"My husband and I."
She crossed her legs, plucking splinters of wood out of her hair, her power still viciously hurling itself at the enchantment binding her to the tavern.

"I see." Kaok looked down at the ground, at a loss for what to say. And though it didn't mean much coming from her, she figured it was something... "Pan help you."

Question glared at Skutz. "What? Do you fear me? Does my very presence make you want to dig into your own face as a means to escape my wrath?" Question thought for a few moments. "I mean... how... are you?" 'Damn, socializing is hard! How does that incompetent fool do this on a daily basis?'

"Pan and I are not on speaking terms..."
Perhaps she should not have said that out loud, she thought, but the words had already left her lips.

"Funny, neither are Pan and I. Though, we're not really on believing-in terms. I just figured it was something people said in these sorts of situations."
Kaok blinked.
"It may sound strange of me to ask... but your husband... he's not a dark-elf is he?"

Skutz wasn't sure of what to make of Question's demeanor, but had the distinct notion that whatever it was, that the person in front of him was not the Dr. that he knew. "Besides witnessing your....weirdness....I'm so-so." Skutz replied, feeding Kayla a cinnastick, which she happily nom'd on. "Srsly gotta find Emma for this guy..."
"Just watch Question, Skutz," Kayla said to me mentally. "Make sure he doesn't hurt himself, I'll find Emma." She hopped down and trotted off to Emma.

"No, not at all. He's one hundred percent human." A sorcerer as well, which had altered his morphic field from that of a normal mortal, but she left that out.
"Pan and I had an...unfavorable encounter. I was saved by a different deity. Athena intervened."

Question closed his eyes. 'Grrr.... You win!' 'Wait... what?' 'You get to use my body for now, but only to fulfill the purpose for what you were made!' Question opened his eyes, and the imposing look was gone (though his eyes remained the same). "Uh... Ever have one of those days where you aren't quite yourself?"

"So it can work then... But this is so much more different..." Kaok trailed off, but didn't seem to want to explain at all.
"Athena? ... We may be speaking of two different pantheons. Human influence gave ours the name he has, as I believe the two share similar forms."

"I believe they do, but pantheons have never been my concern."
Emma did not believe in gods. It would be like believing in the postman. Her main patrons (the Morrigan, Odin and Athena), were all from different pantheons.
"If you do not mind my asking, what do you mean?" She asked, referring to her first comment.

"There have been days," Skutz replied, "I call those days 'Bastion.'" He took a sip of his green tea, and sighed, "fightin' inner daemons?" he directed to Question.
"It seems Emma is not needed from your conversation with Question, Skutz," Kayla noticed, "Still, I want to get acquainted with Emma. Or at least see her...something." She came up to a lady garbed in a black dress and glowing eyes. "Baaa," Kayla said, "Hai. I'm just here to observe."

Kaok stopped fiddling with the doll and put it away in her shirt pocket.
"I don't mind at all. I was just wondering if Inter-Species relationships could... work out."

And you might be?
She turned her attentions back to the Lieutenant, giving her a reassuring smile. "They work just fine. In fact, species has never been a problem for us." She gave a one-shouldered shrug.

Question sighed. 'Go ahead and do it. If things turn out awkward, I can deal with him.' "Okay... so it turns out that the 'inner daemon' is actually the true soul of this body, and that I'm a minor soul created by the true soul because the true soul was made to be an incredibly powerful fighter, thus having no social skills whatsoever. My job is to socialize with others, so that when something requires his attention he'll be able to share his plans without others giving him the same trust as they would a stranger. However, taking into account that I'm an alternate version of the real Dr. Question soul, that makes all of this into a big pile of s**t that doesn't make any sense." Question downed another beer, payed for it, and left without another word.

"In your case, I'm sure it's worked out quite lovely. But what about a human and... say... a Faun?" The Lieutenant knew that Emma could probably figure what she meant, but if anyone else around knew.... "There would be more obstacles."
