Ecthelion didn't seem to care, for he just squealed and pounced on Lin, tackling her just below the knees.

And he wasn't alone.

Aras was right behind him, and Kanis and Ruque only a few paces behind her. "Get her! Get her!" they all laughed, all four of them climbing all over Lin and tickling her everywhere they could reach - ribs, underarms, behind her knees, her neck ...

Timaeus just grinned at Lin, quite obviously amused by the spectacle. "Oh, I think they're doing all right on their own," he replied with a chuckle. "They don't need my help."

Besides, his instincts were honed to hurt, maim and kill - he couldn't risk hurting these children.

Still the children continued to tickler her as well as they could - until Aras happened to look up.

"Get out of the way!" she yelped, scrambling away from the pile. "Quick! Run!"

It seemed they had finally attracted Ruran's attention, for the boy was charging towards them all - and while at first glance it appeared as though he was going to join them, there was a mischievous if not malevolent glint in his eye that was actually somewhat frightening.

Even Ecthelion recognized the danger, and he pushed Kanis and Ruque out of the way and then tugged on Lin to try to get her out of the other boy's path. "Watch out!" he cried. "He's gonna hurt you!"

As the other children scrambled out of the way, Ruran grinned wickedly and kept running towards Lin. He was silent as he ran, and he was fast - very fast. Surprisingly fast for someone his size and age.

"Rah!" he roared as he tackled Lin around the knees with every ounce of strength he possessed, ramming his shoulders into her to knock her down.

Ruran rolled as they landed and came up on his feet right away. There was still that look in his eye, the look that said that he was looking for a proper fight, and not just to play.

"Ruran, no!" Aras yelled at him, running at him and grabbing his shirt. "Stop it!"

Ruran pushed her away. "Get off me!" he growled at her. "It's bad enough two humans here, but three is ridiculous!"

Ruran was about to push Aras again when he froze, his eyes narrowed angrily, and as Aras eeped and shrank away, he turned very very slowly to face Lin once again.

"What did you call me?" he breathed quietly, furiously, his face red with anger.

"She didn't mean it!" Ruque squeaked, jumping between them. "Ruran, stop this!"

Ruran stared up at Lin, not paying any attention to the difference in their heights (even though it was a small difference anyways), and with each passing second, his expression grew more angry.

Ruran ignored Ruque, pushing past him and standing directly up at Lin, his hands clenching threateningly as he glared up at her.

"Who says you deserve any respect?" he spat. "You're nothing but a stupid, conniving, weak, female human!"

Timaeus had had about enough of this boy and his attitude. He didn't know who he was or why he was there, but already he had a strong dislike for the boy. But when he started insulting Lin in such a manner, enough was enough. He stepped forward and grabbed Ruran by the front of his shirt, lifting him off the ground to eye level and putting his face close to his.

"If I were you," he said quietly, though he was also angry now, "I would stop talking before I had an accident."
