Hey Maya, I was wondering of a new kind of subforum for the Guild.
It would be something reserved to the bests in a language (I think French, German, Spanish & English would be the most used, as few of us speak some other languages enough ><).
It is something very hard which I am positive would help us get a sort of strong bilinguism, but it might takes time to redact.
In France at school, we do that in French. The principle is quite easy, but I am sure this might be of much use if you express yourself in a foreign language.
This sort of essay is asked in History, French (litterature), Social Sciences, Biology ...
A problem is posed, with sometimes a citation from someone famous. Let's pretend the problem is "Can we allow any sensitive behaviour, like cannibalism among regarded cultures, pretexting this is a cultural problem & that it has been done for years ?".
The writter has to understand the problem, conceive it in his mind & put himself on a side, either for the problem or against.
The whole thing starts by an introduction, when you reformulate the problem put in the subject, then you start your developpement.
Then follow 2 main parts : either Against but ... or For but ... .
The hardness of the whole thing is not to get rid of the arguments of the first part.
Then you conclude with a conclusion (^^) and ask another question which could lead to another dissertation. For this case the question could be "Is there a superior culture which could impose itselfs contempting the others".
