My day of birth is 25 March, which was once the first day of the New Year celebrations, an entire week of partying that came to a close on 1 April. When the calendar was changed, many nobles would send invitations to New Years, and call those who arrived for the party "April Fools", beginning a long tradition of pranks taking place on 1 April in the years since.

Hope you good people do not mind the trivia, however such idle things amuse me immensely.
