While it is sad to see anyone who is a capable role-player leave the guild because of the battle system, it is in place to stop meta-gaming and power-gaming, of which there is quite a bit of on the internet.
I've never needed a system unless I'm playing table-top. As a table-top gamer, I can assure you, the use of stats does not hinder heated role-play, but can add certain elements that might not have been there before.
However, we will of course respect your opinion to not play, and wish you good luck in any future endeavors you may have.
As far as 'how the levels could carry over', unless you follow the battle system, you may never achieve the following things: kidou skills, shikai, or bankai. As this severely limits any Shinigami, you can see why this would negate the point of putting the battle system aside.

If I'm allowed my own two cents in the matter...
I am in a few free-form RP's of my own. Now, I am not going to fathom saying that they are inferior, but they are their own RP. Those are the types that strictly resist god-modding and their like.
However, with the types that use d20 (or whatever dice system), they revel in the hard labour it takes to train, the sheer number of posts and what-not. This shows us how hard it is to be strong, and it makes it feel better when you finally get to that stage. Much more rewarding than doing loose training in free-form and getting rewarded a 'higher position'.
The dice system is mostly in place to account for the annoying god-modders (because it's impossible to god-mod if you have the roll of the dice to depend on) and the luck of the battle. Not everyone fights at their peak all the time. Sometimes they are off, or their reactions are slowed for some reason, or they are hindered by another effect.
If you don't have dice, you can't have the effect work right, because if it was free-form, a character could miraculously break from a kido just like Ichigo...every time. That is neither true to a character or fair.
I find that the dice are dividers between levels, and it shows how little it changes from level to level, but that you have an advantage.
Throw this all into what Dischord-dono said and I think it's pretty much all said.

Please tell me we don't have to write out our Zanpakto's command in japanese. Okay, its name SHOULD be in Japanese or Spanish (depending on whether you're a shinigami or arrancar respectably), but come on! Some of those commands are insane! Shunsui Kyōraku Hana kaze midarete, kashin naki, tenpū midarete, tenma warau Translation: Flowers are disturbed, god of flowers weeps, winds of Heaven are disturbed, demon of Heaven laughs

Ironblade42.
We actually prefer if you use japanese, though it isn't required. Some of us do, some of us don't. For a good english to japanese translation page, try http://www.freedict.com/
As far as the battle system being up, if you're referring to anything but Shinigami, the answer is 'when our Captain isn't so busy'. If you ARE referring to shinigami, PLEASE let me slap you now, just so I can wring your jaw so hard your head whips around to find the Battle System which is, while semi-unfinished, mostly done in regards to shinigami, and the Battle System FAQ.
And if those answers don't suit you.. you just.. yeah.. you need to leave. So badly need to leave.

Not only do I need time but I need to actually re-watch many parts of the series to get some work done, as for vizards and arrancar goes every damn day we see something new about them -.-. So it will be hard to actually make a concrete system at the moment.

And if those answers don't suit you.. you just.. yeah.. you need to leave. So badly need to leave. 1) I already use a translater that's signifigantly better than that one. 2) Unless you're okay with using a one word command (i.e. Howl, Roar, Soar, etc.), there's no translator online that can change whole sentences/phrases into japanese (the programming for that would be near impossible). 3) Yes, I'm refering to the hollows, arrancar, vizards, quinzy, bounts, and every other classification of spiritual being. Being an arrancar is half the reason why I joined this guild. 4) Vizards are actually pretty easy to figure out. They're only shinigami that have hollow abilities. In other words, once you complete the hollow section you apply that information to the vizards. 5) Arrancar are a bit more of a pain in the a**. Because their zanpakto isn't really a zanpakto, it requires more information in order to determine how they work. The hollow part, however, is just as easy as it was for the vizards.
