Username: Sigil Warden
Character Name: Aetyra Irsidal
Age: Immortal
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 170 lbs
Race: Night Elf (Undead)
Night elves are naturally tall in stature, graceful, and athletically muscular. The process of becoming a undead death knight has left those characteristics intact, while augmenting Aetyra's strength and endurance to far beyond that of any living counterpart, allowing her to lift and carry up to 300 lbs with ease, and similar feats of physical prowess.
Build: Athletic (Strength and Endurance magically enhanced) (see Undead Resilience for further details)
Special Abilities:
Runic Mastery: The foundation of a death knight's power. Aetyra has access to a total of six runes, inscribed onto her runeaxes. 2 Unholy, 2 Frost, and 2 Blood. Her strikes use the power of these runes, detailed in the description of each ability. A rune, once activated, cannot be activated again for 2 posts, after which it recharges and is available for another use. Activating runes also grants her a reserve of energy, called Runic Power, which is used for other select abilities, as detailed below.
Runic Power: A reserve of energy used for certain non-strike magical abilities. It maxes out at 50, but starts at 0 and is filled by activating runic abilities.
Diseases: The following diseases are supernatural in nature, and may only be inflicted by specific strikes that confer them as a status effect. Diseases have two stages: Base, and Advanced. The Base disease is the form it takes when first inflicted upon a target. A disease progresses to Advanced form if another unique disease is subsequently inflicted. A disease that is subsequently inflicted upon a diseased target is still bestowed in its base form, just as if it had hit an undiseased target. Another unique disease must be inflicted for it to progress to the Advanced state. All diseases have a very short incubation period, this being the post during which it is contracted. It then lasts 2 full turns (2 opponent posts, 2 self posts) before expiring.
Frost Fever:
Base: The target is affected by unnatural chills and is cold to the touch. This effect does not respond to heat of any kind.
Advanced: The target is seized by uncontrollable shaking, and begins to rapidly lose body heat. This effect does not respond to heat of any kind.
Blood Plague:
Base: The target is affected by an intense itching on their palms, the soles of their feet, and inside their nose, ears, and eyes that, while ignorable with concentrated effort of will, is tremendously distracting and not satisfied by scratching them.
Advanced: The target begins to bleed substantially from their ears, nose, and eyes, all the while continuing to be affected by persistent itching in those areas.
Scarlet Fever:
Base: The target is affected by persistent, acute pain in their muscles and joints that does not respond to painkillers, natural or magical.
Advanced: The target is gripped by agonizing cramps and searing pain in all of their joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles, that do not respond to painkillers and are amplified by vigorous movement.
Strikes:
Icy Touch: Aetyra infuses a runeaxe or her hand with the icy power of Death. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, or a successful touch attack to the opponent's exposed flesh, also inflicts frostbite-like damage at the site of contact. The victim also contracts Frost Fever. Icy Touch's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 5 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Frost Rune
Plague Strike: Aetyra infuses a runeaxe with a sickening plague. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, causes a bleeding wound that refuses to close. A successful Plague Strike also infects the victim with Blood Plague. Plague Strike's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 5 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Unholy Rune.
Scourge Strike: Aetyra infuses a runeaxe with void shadow. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, causes the target to be gradually enveloped in a clinging envelope of magical darkness that follows and shrouds them during their next turn, before gradually dissipating during Aetyra's next turn. It is impossible to see in or out of this darkness, but it otherwise inflicts no other harm. Scourge Strike's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 5 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Unholy Rune.
Blood Strike: Aetyra infuses a runeaxe with the raw physical power of blood. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, is amplified to a more grievous level, inflicting damage as if it had been struck by someone 1.5 times her strength. A successful Blood Strike also infects the victim with Scarlet Fever. Blood Strike's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 5 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Blood Rune.
Festering Strike: Aetyra infuses a runeaxe with putrid decay. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, causes a festering, decaying wound that eats away at flesh and bone in the immediate area, weakening them. It also prolongs the effects of any active diseases the victim is afflicted with, causing them to last an additional turn beyond their normal duration. Festering Strike's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 10 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Blood Rune, 1 Frost Rune.
Death Strike: Aetyra turns a runeaxe into a siphon for life-force. A solid strike that bites into the flesh, made by her axe, draws upon the life-force of the target, numbing that area of their body and rendering it functionally useless for a turn. The absorbed energy is converted into Runic Power, restoring 5 points of Runic Power. Death Strike's power lasts only during the turn which it is cast. Generates 10 Runic Power. Cost: 1 Unholy Rune, 1 Frost Rune.
Death Coil: Summons a shadowy bolt of void energy about the size of a volleyball that is fired at the enemy. Upon contact it instantly necrotizes the flesh and causes immense pain. A successful hit also confers the effects of Blood Plague upon the victim. It tracks the enemy slightly but is incapable of sharp turns. The energy projectile flies at a speed of 30 mph, and has a range of 60 feet. Death Coil has a cooldown of 2 turns, after which it may be cast again. Cost: 10 Runic Power.
Chains of Ice: Bitterly cold chains of spectral force tear forth from the ground in a five foot radius at a point Aetyra designates within fifteen feet of her. These chains try to wrap themselves around any opponent or object that passes within ten feet of them, slowing and constricting them, and freezing their flesh. The chains last 2 turns, not including the turn during which they are summoned. They may be sundered by attacking them directly, though this is similar to trying to break metal chains. An opponent that spends at least one post in contact with them contracts Frost Fever. Cost: 25 Runic Power.
General Skills:
Runeweapon Mastery: Aetyra is proficient with her runeaxes and enchanted armor, and all aspects of their use.
Undead Resilience: Aetyra is immune to mundane disease and highly resistant to poison. She does not age, nor does she need sustenance (though she may partake of it if desired). Though capable of feeling pain and suffering physical wounds, her body continues to function even after the muscles and organs controlling it are damaged, as the magic that animates her is seated in her skeleton itself. This also makes her resistant to general fatigue, tiring her at half the rate of an average human fighter.
Undead Weakness: Holy magic is anathema to a death knight. Any such abilities are twice as effective against her.
Equipment:
Sanctified Armor of the Scourgelord: Aetyra's armor is forged from saronite, a tremendously dense metal that is said to be the crystallized tears of the Old God, Yogg-Saron. Though dense, the metal in its natural state is a soft metal, similar to copper in nature, and thus a seemingly poor choice for armor. However, its mysterious origin lends it an increased capacity for magical enhancement of all kinds, as well as a tendency to mute the effect of blunt force against it. For this tournament, Aetyra has removed much of the bulk of the armor, both to free up her movement as well as to comply with the restrictions on coverage (and show off her body!). A close-fitted chestplate only covers her bust, leaving her abdomen and cleavage exposed. Spiked pauldrons protect her shoulders, and lower arm bracers cover her forearms. A padded armored thong serves more to reveal than protect, with accompanying hip plates suspended from its straps. Forward-facing plates shield her thighs and shins, secured by leather straps. Solid armored boots finish off the ensemble. In this way, though she bears armor on most of her body, much of it remains exposed, including the abdomen, neck, inner arms, back of the legs, and the lower back. The true power of the armor is only revealed when Aetyra has amassed a degree of Runic Power. She may expend 10 Runic Power at any time to suffuse her armor with magical force, that extends the protection of the armor into an invisible forcefield that covers the areas her physical armor does not. This protection lasts until broken with a solid blow or for 2 turns. Activating this power of her armor again before the previous duration has expired does nothing, and wastes the Runic Power. The armor in total weighs about eleven pounds.
Troggbane, Axe of the Frostbourne King: This axe once belonged to Muradin Bronzebeard, before he was left for dead by Arthas Menethil (The Lich King). Aetyra has claimed it from the now-defeated Lich King and, reforged, wields it to devastating effect. A bearded, one-handed battleaxe, it is forged from the highest quality arcanite and steel. It is about 3 feet in length, has a blade of about 1 foot, and weighs about 5 pounds. It is inscribed with three runes, one Frost, one Unholy, one Blood.
Havoc's Call, Blade of Lordaeron Kings: This axe was the royal weapon of the kings of Lordaeron. After the kingdom fell into ruin following the undead plague, it was taken by the Lich King. At his defeat, Aetyra reforged it and took it as a second weapon, letting the great weapon live up to its namesake once more. A bearded, one-handed battleaxe, it is forged from the highest quality arcanite and steel. It is about 3 feet in length, has a blade of about 1 foot, and weighs about 5 pounds. It is inscribed with three runes, one Frost, one Unholy, one Blood.
