Knowing our wonderful President, chances are he's probably trying to propose some new 'radical' system to implement 'change'... which ultimately is peeving more people off than supporting. Like teaching something practical in kindergarden, like how to forge steel or farm..

Why not? You would have gotten your wish. Mandatory military service for I think, 4 years? Including education in such service.

Well I'm A) proudly American and B) focused on the Marine Corps.
I guess I should have clarified to something like West Point.

Sorry... not too fond of the current crop of officers in our military. All the great ones have left or moved on to other things... Schwartzkov, Powell. The top brass we have now seems rather... poor.
Don't get me started on the Marines either. If you're bright and want to serve your country in the most effective capacity...
You join the Air Force and try and become a member of the Air Force Special Forces. There's nothing like carrying a rifle and telling fighter jocks where to drop those bombs. If that doesn't work you could always try and become a mechanic (we're currently experiencing a significant shortage of maintainers in that branch).
You join the marines and you're an assault infantrymen... But at least the marine corps is smart enough not to issue a uniform that's supposed to work in every environment on the planet (That would be the army ACP BDU, the marines were smart enough to ask for a woodland and a desert version).

From what I hear, I'm not too fond of them either :/
I am bright, and I do want to serve. However, I'm way too interested in the Marine Corps. I'd like to serve for a -long- time, and I'd really like to apply for Drill Instructing. (I need to talk to my recruiter about it)
My cousin is in the air force. The other is in PT for boot camp, USMC. I'll be the second, and my second oldest cousin will be the third.
Yes sir, infantry. I'm pretty scared of dying, no doubt. Regardless of whatever anyone tells me, my future is the Marine Corps. I go on and on about how much I love the Corps, what it means to be in it, etc. Teachers love it.
