"Well, if you take their pelt you own them. That's not exactly 'skinning', though I hear the process starts about the same," Dari replied with a shrug. "Oh, Lori can ell you all about anything. It's his job."

"Oh, that's...nice." Cody made a face. The thought of owning anyone was terrible. "Really? He's the fairy-alien expert?" He shook his head. "Do you want to walk around the park?"

"He's the everything expert. He's the head of the research department." Ah, it felt so wonderful to just be able to talk about his life freely now. Cody was now a part of a very select group of people.
"Sure. Let's walk back to where we met?"

"Oh," Cody said, and smiled. "I'll have to talk to him, then." He parked the car and climbed out of it. He opened the door for Dari. "Do you remember exactly where it was?" He asked. "I was too busy staring at the angel in front of me."

Dari smiled and shook his head. Angel.
"Of course I do. Come on." He took Cody's hand and only let him close the car door before leading him into the park.

Cody followed cheerfully. "I was distracted," he said. "You were the most beautiful person I'd ever seen. Then, when I got to know you, I saw you were just as beautiful inside." He swayed their hands.

Dari shook his head.
"You're a flatterer," he said, "but I love it. You're the most special man I've known." And he knew quite a few.

"Its not flattery if it's the truth," Cody protested. Once they reached the spot, which Cody was surprised he recognised, he stopped and dug into his pockets. He seemed to be fumbling for something. He looked around. People weren't watching. Good.
He bent down on one knee in front of Dari, taking his hand. "Dari, love. We've known each other such a short time, but I've spent my life looking for you. When we looked at those old pictures, it felt like you were missing from them. I love you, Dari. I want us to make new memories, and spend my life with you. Marry me?"

Dari had known it was coming, but that didn't take away from the emotional impact of it all. It seemed so strange to be engaged so shortly after coming out as an alien, but this was Cody. This was love. He laughed as his eyes welled and he nodded.
"Of course I will. I already love you like you're mine forever." Like his progenitors had loved one another; what he had always hoped to find.

Cody stood and wrapped his arms around Dari. "I am yours forever," he promised. He smiled and kissed him. "I wanted to do this where we met." This place had brought them together, after all.

Dari grinned and bent down, scooping Cody up and twirling him in a circle before stealing yet another kiss. Then he laughed up at him and set him down, throwing his arms around him. He kissed his neck.
Imagine, he had just shattered this man's view of reality and he had still come back with this.

Cody laughed as he was spun; this really was the best feeling ever. He hugged Dari back tightly when he was set back down. "I love you, darling," he said, stroking Dari's cheek with his thumb.

For a moment Dari just stood there, holding Cody at the waist and peering into his green eyes.His mind did not wonder over the meaning of 'forever,' simply regaling in the notion of a marriage.
"I love you too," he said finally, and only then looked to the ring. He realized he hadn't even really seen what had been offered him as he'd been more intent on the words being spoken.

Cody smiled. He couldn't remember ever being this happy, but that tended to be how life with Dari went. Days with him were the happiest he'd ever experinced. "I got us a matching set, see?" He pointed to the second ring in the box.
