Samuel liked switching things up now and again. He could have easily walked back to the kitchen and grabbed them a roll of Bounty and placed it between them. But he thought that since they were eating in a different location, why not make the napkins different as well. As they dug into their meals, he too was relieved that the omelet had come out alright. While he had trusted Micha with the cooking, neither of them could have guaranteed the outcome. Samuel finished eating his first bite before turning his gaze across the table.

Inquiring about Micha's own food, he watched him nod as he swallowed as well, and offered him a bite. Smiling, Samuel reached across the table to take the fork. Indeed, it wasn't often they shared. Not for a lack of trying, merely a difference in taste. Although Samuel was not the biggest sweetest fan, he had to admit the cakes did look quite good. Bringing the fork to his mouth, he was greeted to the taste of warm maple syrup and rich buttermilk. He definitely could not eat this nearly as much as Micha, but he liked it very much. Smiling as he chewed, he handed back the fork. "Mm, okay, that is pretty good." he admitted. Cutting off another part of his omelet, he soon swallowed, and scooped up the piece. "Would you like to try a piece of this?" he asked.

It didn't didn't bother him however. Micha held his fork out to Samuel as he soon took out. He watched as Samuel bit off the pancake from his fork. Micha waited as Samuel chewed the piece and seemed to enjoy it. He smiled as Samuel spoke, soon handing him back his fork. Micha reached out, taking his fork back. He moved to resume eating as Samuel soon spoke, questioning him on his meal. Micha nodded, ”Sure.” He responded figuring if they were sharing why not try Samuel's too.

If there was one thing Micha would never have to worry about, it would be Samuel eating all of his sweets. He had never been much for sweets, even as a child. He only indulged on the rarest occasions. Taking what was offered to him, Samuel had to admit that the pancake was good. It had a good texture and an even better flavor to go with it. Passing back the fork, he started to turn his attention back to his own plate. Before digging in, he paused to see if Micha might like to taste his as well. Samuel smiled as the male nodded and accepted his offer. Cutting into the omelet, he decided to give Micha a generously sized piece that had a little bit of everything. Raising his fork, he carefully stretched his arm across the table. "Here, see what you think of this." he said.

He wasn't opposed to tasting Samuel's omelet. Micha watched as Samuel moved to cut a piece of his omelet. He smiled as Samuel extended his fork out to him from across the table. Micha reached as he took the fork from Samuel. He slipped the piece into his mouth. Micha chewed it as he tasted the flavors. It was savory, not overly cooked though still missing something. He finished as he swallowed, handing Samuel back his fork. ”Mm, good though needs more.“ Micha teased as he moved to continue on with his pancakes. He reached out grabbing his coffee cup and took a sip from it.

Samuel was curious how the food might taste if it were made by Micha. While he had tasted his food before, he couldn't recall him ever making him an omelet. As he offered him a piece, Samuel was generous with his offering and stretched his arm across the table. He watched as Micha stretched out as well, soon taking the utensil from his hand, and brought it to his own mouth. Samuel wasn't expecting any big reactions as it likely wouldn't be to his taste. He simply wanted to know his thoughts. After taking a minute to chew and swallow, his fork was handed back to him. Samuel listened as the male teased him. Smiling, he turned his gaze back to his own plate. "Oh yeah?" he asked, intrigued. "And how might you improve upon it?" Cutting off another piece, Samuel took a bit, tasting it again for himself. As far as he could tell, it was fine. The savory bits were savory, there was also some salt in there as well as pepper and maybe some herbs. But he wasn't really sure how the flavor could be improved upon. Glancing again towards Micha, he waited for his insight.

He watched as Samuel smiled as he soon questioned him back. Micha smirked as he continued to eat his pancakes. He thought of the answer as an omelet was open to various options. ”Mm, depends on how you want it and what you want in it…Peppers, onions, mushroom, spinach, cheese; the list goes on.” Micha responded as he teased Samuel. He had an endless amount of ingredients to use if he so chose.

Taking back his fork Samuel heard the male speak, and was intrigued by his words. They both knew what a lousy cook Samuel was, so he didn’t really know how to make a dish taste good. Most of what he cooked, so long as it wasn’t burnt he would call it a success. With Micha being the better of the two, he questioned him. Across the table the man smirked as he took another bite, and chewed his food thoughtfully. As he waited for his answer, Samuel cut into his omelette to take another bite. About a minute passed and he glanced up from his plate as the man spoke. What he said made sense and it made him even more curious to try one of Micha’s omelets. ”Remind me to stock up on fresh ingredients the next time you decide to come over for breakfast.” He teased back.

Micha could easily just not eat, it was that simple. He had lost weight in the last year. Micha had allowed himself to go days without eating as he wandered the city of his past. Returning back to New York however, he allowed himself to follow back into his routine. He didn't want Samuel to see such a side of him.

Responding to Samuel, he continued to eat. Micha listened as Samuel soon commented as he teased him back. He nodded at his words as he thought of something more on his mind. ”Besides a simple omelet, is there anything else you'd like cooked for you in the future?” Micha asked curiously, wondering since they were on the topic of food, if Samuel would like another meal cooked for him.

Knowing the males' destructive tendencies, he was glad that he was unaware of some of the habits he'd picked up in their time apart. The drinking and self-isolation were worrying enough. Samuel wasn't sure he was prepared to know that Micha had starved himself as well. Though he couldn't say he was completely oblivious to the fact. When Micha first showed up in his office he noticed how much thinner he was in comparison to the year prior. Samuel had never said anything about it, not wanting to seem as though he were shaming Micha, but he was glad that he kept to a healthier routine.

As they continued to eat, Samuel lightly teased the male about stocking up. He watched as Micha nodded in agreement before retreating back to his thoughts a moment. Patient as ever, Samuel continued to eat his omelet. He was about halfway through the dish and enjoying every morsel. After swallowing another bite, he reached for his mug to sip at his coffee. Across the table, Micha soon spoke again. It was a fair question, and one he did not mind answering. Thinking over his favorite dishes, a few sprung to mind of what he might like to try. "Maybe when it gets a little colder something hearty like a beef stew or Shepard's pie." he suggested. Samuel was mindful to keep his answers simpler. While a few other dishes had come to mind, he didn't want to be too greedy and name something that might be above his skillset.

He had spoken of the semi good but didn't want to explain himself. Depression had hit hard on him, while he knew he wasn't alone in the aspect. Micha hardly thought Samuel would be so destructive as himself. Even in his own anger as they were together previously, he'd hurt himself. He didn't like to show such a side to Samuel as he thought he'd understand. It was easier to control pain than release the anger.

Watching Samuel as he ate, he continued to pick at his own food. Micha wasn't exactly as fast to eat as Samuel seemed to be. He was enjoying his time with Samuel, a simple breakfast and conversation. Micha couldn't help but question Samuel about other meals he'd like to have cooked for him. He waited as Samuel seemed to think about it. Micha picked up his cup as he took a sip.

It wasn't long before Samuel soon responded. The requests were simple, nothing overly complicated. Micha found it amusing though he guessed Samuel didn't want to expect too much of him.”Simple enough then.” He responded as he smiled at Samuel, soon finishing off the last few bites of his breakfast.

It was hard to say if he would ever be ready to know the true horrors of Micha's life in their time apart. At best he was prepared to accept that things had not been well. After all, Micha had made it known as such when he corrected him in his bedroom the other day. That alone had been a hard to hear, but it needed to be said. As much as he would like to, he couldn't pretend that they had both been living their best lives, and everything was sunshine and kittens. That just wasn't true. In their time apart, Samuel may not have been nearly as destructive, but he was no picnic to be around either. He had allowed his emotions to simply sit and fester instead of taking the time to feel them when he was between projects. He had been pretty honest about his workload with Micha, and the events taking place at the club showed as much. However, he wasn't sure the male would want to know about the nights he went without sleep or the damage he'd done to his lungs by smocking too much. All for the sake of not wanting to think or feel. One day he would probably tell him, but for now he didn't want to needlessly worry him.

Samuel couldn't help eating a bit too fast. With so much activity lately, he found himself practically starving. He tried not to eat too quickly as he noticed the male poking at his own pancakes. He assumed it was likely because he was starting to get full or being distracted by the conversation. Either way, he wouldn't call attention to it. As they continued to talk, Samuel thought about the things he might want to have cooked for him. He decided it best to keep the dishes simple as Micha had never really told him how good of a cook he was. He didn't want to overwhelm him with something absurdly advanced or that might take hours to prep. For something like that, they could simply eat out or hire a personal chef. Samuel smiled as the male commented on his response. "Should I have picked something harder, then? Like some homemade risotto or a filet mignon?" he teased. Taking another sip, he then set his mug aside to continue eating."On the assumption I ever get good at cooking, is there anything you would want me to make you?"

The idea of knowing about Samuel's own pain would cause him discomfort but it was needed. If they couldn't talk about such a dark side to their nature then was it all lies. As much as he wanted to protect himself, he couldn't continue to hide himself from Samuel. The thought scared him though, he didn't want judgment or pity from Samuel.

Micha could understand Samuel's hunger though his own wasn't as strong. He had been sated from their previous game outside. Micha couldn't help having been excited by it. He was distracted by conversation among other things. Micha didn't mind simple foods though they did require preparation. He listened as Samuel soon teased him about something more extravagant. Micha shook his head as he smiled at Samuel. ”I'll cook you whatever you want.” He teased, not at all oblivious on how to read a recipe.

Pushing his plate aside with a few bites still left on it, he picked up his coffee to finish it off. Micha wasn't surprised as Samuel questioned him. He wasn't too sure what he wanted. Micha though couldn't help but come up with an impossible item. ”Pirozhki.” He teased as he thought of the first thing to pop in his head. Pirozhki were a Russian pastry; either filled with meat, herbs and cheese though sometimes sweet with fruit and jams.

Hard conversations needed to be had. If there was any take away from their last relationship, that was it. No more skirting around the uncomfortable topics or shutting out one another when things got too hard. Samuel understood that telling Micha about these pains would likely hurt him, and vice versa. But if it meant that the next time they ran into a problem, he didn't need to worry about Micha drowning himself in alcohol or, something worse like slitting his wrists, then it was worth the bit of worth the talk. They didn't need to let it all out at once, unless that was something Micha wanted to do. If not, they could have multiple conversations, take it slow as they had been doing with other topics and questions. Samuel wouldn't promise to withhold all of his judgment or pity, after all they both knew he didn't have the best poker face at times. But he would try to understand and comfort him when needed.

So long as the male was content and full, Samuel wouldn't say anything about his picking. He was enjoying their morning too much to want to go and spoil it with something so miniscule. Samuel continued to tease the male in-between bites, soon thinking up more difficult meals that he wouldn't mind Micha try to make for him. His smile grew as the male shook his head and teased him once more. "I'll hold you to that promise." he replied. Not at all doubting he could follow any given recipe. All he needed was for Samuel to find him one and show it to him.

With that said, Samuel turned the conversation back towards Micha. It would be some time before he could make anything good, let alone edible. All the same, he was curious to know when that time came what Micha would want him to make. When the male spoke a moment later, he nearly choked on his food as he started to laugh. When he finished swallowing, he helped it down with a bit of coffee. "Really?" he said, once he could speak. "So not only do I have to learn to cook, I have to learn to bake as well. Tell me you just don't like the kitchen." Samuel was well familiar with the dish. It was something his grandmother used to make them for him and his brothers when they would stay over. It had been years since he last had one. Though he was sure with just a few taps on his phone, he could find a nice Russian bakery that sold them.

Micha wasn't used to recipes though he wasn't opposed to using them. He, like all partners, wanted to make their lovers happy. Micha teased Samuel as he listened as he spoke. He smiled at his words, ”No doubt.” Micha responded, teasing knowing Samuel always did coin in on his bargains.

Speaking the first thing that came to mind, he wasn't surprised as Samuel laughed at him. Micha couldn't help the thought. It was something he'd long forgotten about and his mind had automatically picked it out of all the random foods he'd ever had. His mother used to make them though they were rare. Micha waited as Samuel seemed to find it amusing.

He hadn't meant that Samuel needed to learn both. Micha hardly cared what Samuel made him. He could make him a sandwich for all he was concerned about. Micha listened as Samuel spoke, questioning him. He smiled at his words. ”Make me whatever you want within reason, I don't care.” Micha commented as he finished off his coffee.

Whatever Micha decided to make him he would happily eat it, recipe or not. He already knew that it would be delicious no matter the dish. Teasing him again, Samuel watched him smile and he was then teased back. He nodded and smiled in return, already knowing that Micha would keep his word. While Samuel continued to finish off the last few bites of his meal, Micha soon named a meal in return that he wanted him to make.

Of all the things that he could have chosen, Pirozhki was the last one he expected to pick. Samuel couldn’t help finding the request funny as it was very much out of his current skill range. Samuel lightly teased him for it, meaning nothing bad by it. He soon finished off his own food and pushed aside his plate. Across the table, Micha shook his head and assured him otherwise that anything was fine. In response, Samuel shook his own head. ”I’ll make it.” He promised. ”You’ll just have to be patient. It’s probably going to take me a few months or even longer to get it right.”
