Alex your good at programing right?
Because my boyfriend is in a computer programing class and needs some help.
He does not have a gaia account though so I was wondering if he could contact you via aim?
If so I would need your aim screen name since I keep forgeting to ask you for it.
Or I could pm you his aim screen name?
To say I'm good at programming would be to say we're all good at languages. That is, because we speak English, we should be able to speak French, German, Russian, et cetera fluently, which we know is not the case.
With programming, I mostly deal with web programming. I can do XHTML, XML, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, et cetera.
If he's in a computer programming class, he's more than likely dealing with one of the following: C, C++, Java, Python, Haskell, or Scheme. Those aren't web programming languages, so I don't really know them. Also remember that each language within web programming are different from each other, just as each software language is different from each other.
It gets really detailed and meticulous when you break things down like that. Programming encompasses all of these different languages, and each of these languages is run on a specific platform using specific tools, and has their own specific dialects and specific rules to form specific applications for specific purposes.
See where I'm going?
xd What I'm saying is, all though I'm generally known in our Meri+Kimi clique as the programmer, it's impossible for me to be proficient in all things programming ever.
While I'd be happy to give a few pointers if he were doing some sort of web programming that I also know, it's very unlikely that he is, and so I probably would be useless to him.
The best way to learn a programming language and get better at it is to research research research. I personally like to learn a language by buying two or so books on it, reading them through, building things as I go along, and discussing any problems or concerns I have on a decently-active programming forum dedicated to that language that I find through Google.
HTH.
