I agree. 3nodding I wouldn't mind learning more about it, and maybe getting some sewing pointers from my great aunt. Plus, it would be pretty nice to give some of my older rock tees new life in this way. heart

I'd go to when they give movie/music awards and when the celeb starts giving a speech, yell, " SHUT UP AND GET SOME DAMNED TALENT! "

I have to agree. It seems to me that the 80s were pretty much the heyday of rock. Of course, that probably applies to most music acts in general these days.

The 80s is when rock was rock and when they still had to have talent. Nowadays they can fake it all. All they have to do is look good.
That's also the flaw.
Boybands, for example, you have to be like 14-24, and after that you're too old, not to mention you gotta look " cute " the whole time, even you're trying to be the " bad boy " one.
Rock bands, however, you can look like Hell and still be awesome, because if for no other reason, the whole band can be trying to be freaky-looking, but you still sound great and both kids and adults of all ages can get into the heavy stuff.
Just imagine though, some 90-year-old grandma... " Well now, Sonny, back in my day they have any o' them whispersnappers like ya see nowadays. Here, I'll put on some of my kinda music back from 70 years ago... " * starts playing Hammerfall *

I would pay money to see a 90 year old jamming some Hammerfall! surprised
And, I don't really get the appeal of the whole "boy band" thing. Sure, the teeny bopper little girls are all about how cute the boys are and all. BUt for me, where is the substance?
And, in some instances, I hear they don't even have to write their own stuff! O_o They just have some older guy - or girl - write the lyrics, and have the "after" results of an acne cream commercial sing it.

At least Hansen plays their own instruments.
When all you do is sing in a group, that's not a band. That's a choir. If you want to hear a choir, go to the church. For 1, it's real people who actually enjoy doing it, and 2, there's more of them, meaning you get more range in harmonics, so overall they sound better.

Choirs are neat. I rather like it when some bands bring in choirs, or opera singing folks.

I'm not a big fan of classical music, except the DoomsDay style ones. ( The kinda stuff they'd play in the final epic showdown in a big action/fantasy movie, etc. )
However, when you got 50+ instruments playing, you get quite the sound.

That's pretty groovy. I also rather like some waltzes and polkas from way back when.
