Kimiko felt like someone was watching her. Pertending to look at the book, she raised her eyes to the top of the next page, sinking further into her chair, bringing the book higher. This gave her the perfect ability to glance stealthily at her... reading companion. She smiled inwardly when she saw that he was blushing. It's so cute when they blush, she thought, then continued reading the page.

The longer he sat with the strange girl, the more anxious he felt. Finally, Cass, surprisingly calmly and gracefully, given his anxiety, stood and bowed, deeply, elegantly. He murmured softly, his long silver hair finally hiding his blush,
"My apologies, Miss, if my presence bothers you, I can move to another part of the building ..."

Kimiko looked up shocked. "Why... whatever do you mean?" She tipped her head, now curious. He bowed! When was the last time someone ever bowed to me? I can't remember! Then let out an inner happy squeal that she hoped didn't escape for real. Setting her book down, she rose, and making sure her dress was in order, and not showing off too much of her legs, and then looking him in the eyes, she curtsied while saying "It has been long since I've had the pleasure of someones company. Please forgive me of my... behavior. It wasn't in my intentions to make you uncomfortable." Then she bowed her head, turned picked up the book, and seemed about to leave for another alcove of chairs.

"Oh, please!" he exclaimed, softly, "Please, don't let me keep you from a comfortable place, Miss. I'd rather leave then let you be unsettled over my account."
He smiled in a shy, awkward way again, bowing his head gently.
"Please, except my deepest apologies for the misunderstanding."

She stopped, and half turned to face him. "Then... you don't mind if we sit and read? We could be reading... companions," she asked, with a mildly hopeful look on her face.

He blushed again, but otherwise didn't seem fazed, save a soft, warm smile.

Kimiko let something escape, that normally never sees the light of day. She smiled. Kimiko walked to stand in front of him, and extened her hand in the olden way, and introduced herself. "My name is Kimiko. I'm a fan of Poe, and entertaining science fiction. It's a pleasure to meet a fellow book lover." She beamed.

"Miss Kimiko," he said, bowing deeply again, then standing straight and, to his own continued blush, kissed her knuckles, "My name is Cassidy James, but you may call me Cass. I am a fan ... of everything, really. I have never met a book that disagreed with me."

Kimikos' smile widened, and a light blush crept across her cheeks as she felt his kiss brush her hand. She clasped his hand and said, "Sir Cass, it's a pleasure, and an honour to meet someone who lives within the past and present. It has been simply ages since someone has been so polite and kind to me! How I have missed such courtesies." She squeezed his hand before releasing it, and motioned to two seats close together, in the sunlight. "Shall we continue to read together?"

He laughed, sheepishly, standing straight and rubbing the back of his head lightly.
"The past and present ... ? Hardly. I just read too much, I suppose."
He smiled again, shyly, and nodded.
"I would like that, Miss Kimiko."

She tipped her head, and nodded, then moved to one of the chairs. She settled in carefully, folding her legs under herself, and smoothed her skirt. She looked down at her book, and suddenly lost intrest in it, wanting to know more about her new friend. She thought a moment thinking of a good line, then said, "So tell me your story," and smiled.

He'd gone back to reading, and looked up, blinking curiously.
"My story?" he mused, tilting his head, "I really don't have a story. I suppose that's why I read so much."

"No story?" She blinked in surprise. "But, everyone has a story. Where you came from, where you've been. Mine is so long I could fill up a book as big as a dictionary." She giggled.

He smiled shyly and shook his head lightly.
"Not really. I don't remember much of anything form when I was little. I lived in an orphanage. Then when I got old enough and had to leave, I just kind of wandedred around. I don't go out much, really. I just stay at the library whenever I can."
'Literally,' he thought sheepishly.

She nodded slowly. "Well, the condenced version of my life is...." She paused, gathering her thoughts, then continued to speak "I grew up in the olden age, before cars were invented. We rode in buggies pulled by horses. I don't know why I aged so slowly, or remained young so long... but I'm still alive. I miss the old days... my parents died off, and I had a sister at one point in time, but she went to another place. I wonder if she is ok... maybe I'll find her one of these days. I hope so." She had a far off look in her eyes, then slowly shook her head to clear her thoughts. "But that was a long time ago." She looked up at Cass, smiling a little.
