Alto Sax, this'll be my tenth year of playing now. Wow, how the time flies. I started and continue on Alto Sax, though I'm a fan of Tenor and Soprano. I've played a little bit of Clarinet and Flute, along with drum set. Working on piano, as all good musicians do. razz

I've been playing the flute for a little over four years now and on Monday I got the strongest urge to play the saxophone. So now I'm learning to play alto sax. When I get good enough I'll take on the soprano!

Ash Rail rachellemybelle dude... I didn't think it was a question... BARRITONE SAXOMOPHONE all the way, low Eb between the legs... I mean... YA!!! You know the legendary "Brown Noise" frequency is a really low and flat Eb? That might not be a good idea then... ^ ^ But that's concert pitch. Anyway, my friend tells me he can feel a rumble if he plays a low C on his alto down there. The Brown Noise...that makes me giggle.

Inucoli hey so i have a question for you guys. i've been teaching my mom how to play alto sax. so far i've taught her a 1 octave C scale starting on middle C and going up. for some reason she can't get the D to speak and i can't figure out why! it's not a commonly messed up note or anything, or at least i've never heard of people having problems. her embouchure looks fine. in fact it looks better than mine and i've been playing for 5 years ^__^* any of you guys have an idea? First off, I'd suggest starting with a G scale instead of C just because it's so common and the range might be slightly easier and not as high.
And about the D, I have no clue because I'm an idiot when it comes to the mechanics of my baby, but make sure it isn't the instrument too.

I can't wait for school to start - I'm going into my final year of high school pep band! Looking forward to rawkin' my sexy tenor. XD Not sure if I'm gonna play tenor for concert season or if I'm gonna go over to flute for that yet - I'll decide on that when the time comes, I suppose. It really depends on what we play.
