Lin gave him a look, "You know, I trained so much as a kid I never did develop any proper hobbies."
That had always been an issue for her after she began to travel and there were long stretches of time when it was just her and Miyuki (and later Andarien).
"I'm the last person to ask what to do when you're bored. I was never bored until I became an adult and didn't have to learn as much anymore."

Earendil smiled faintly. "Aren't we a pair?" he murmured. "One or the other of us needs to get a hobby that we can do when we're in one place, though admittedly neither of us do particularly well in one place for a long time."
But then again, maybe the key was in Lin's final comment.
"Maybe we should find something here to learn about," he shrugged. "I don't know what, particularly, but I'm sure there must be something."

"Something that would actually take time to learn," Lin replied, "I can sew small clothes but I'm not particular good at it. Back when I made doll clothes, I think that was a friend's suggestion once, but I wasn't really into that."
YanYu, from Gaia, had a ball jointed doll collection, and had convinced Lin it was an excellent hobby to take up, it wasn't a hobby that Lin really enjoyed.
"Then again, I wasn't into a lot of hobby like things I tried," Lin added absently.

Earendil chuckled. "Well, I didn't necessarily mean learning to do something," he amended, "but what about learning about something? Perhaps we could find the country's equivalent of a historian, or someone who was around before the coup and could tell us about what the country was like back then."
Anything to stave off the boredom.

"I could ask," Lin mused.
Though it meant people had to come and visit them, rather than they go visit people. She thought learning a new hobby would be far more practical.
"I don't know if they have anything like a historian," she admitted.
She sort of doubted the General would have kept one.

Earendil nodded, but he was slightly disappointed. "And I can't leave the room to ask anyone," he murmured, glancing back towards the window.
Suddenly the door to the hall opened. Andarien and Miyuki were returning from their jaunt to the conservatory and kitchen.
"We're back," Andarien called to their parents as he entered the room ahead of his sister.
The moment he spoke, Zeus came tearing out of the next room and just about pounced on his master's feet. His fur was crackling with pent up electricity. He was getting cabin fever, and he was eager to get some exercise.

"I guess Zeus wants out again," Miyuki commented.
Though they did only explore and didn't get to do much else other than that. They didn't even get to volunteers for her binding runes.
"Maybe we should see if there's a courtyard or training yard to take the Pokemon out in..."
Though they did just get back.

"Zeus always wants out," Andarien laughed. "Not now, Zeus. Later. You were out earlier, anyways."
Zeus squeaked up at Andarien as if protesting that it hadn't been enough, but at another look from his master, he went back to the other room again.
Earendil chuckled softly. "How was the parade?" he asked the two, since that had been their reason for leaving this time.

"The parade was good, it was a bit too boring to watch all the way through," Miyuki admitted, "And the conservatory was depressing."
Really, the two of them had been more concerned about the conservatory than they were about the parade.

"Oh?" Earendil raised one eyebrow. He was curious to hear about the conservatory. He'd seen part of the parade, and he knew what they meant about it being boring - but the conservatory was something new, and since he couldn't see it himself he wanted to hear about it.
Andarien wrinkled his nose. "It's ... dead. All the plants have been dead since the General took over, I think, so it's nothing but rot. And dust."

"No one has looked after the room, that is for certain," Miyuki added, "Or even been in the room. The curtains were closed, so I also imagine when we opened them it was the first time in a long time."
At least that meant anything in the room hadn't been hurt by the sun, but if that rotting plant matter touched anything that wasn't stone or metal, that thing was also probably partly rotten too.

"So we're going to change the soil in the pots and try growing Pokemon berries in them," Andarien said eagerly. "It'll be a lot of work but at least something will be growing in there, and who knows? Maybe the berries will be good to help people here, too!"
"There's a thought," Earendil mused. He turned to Lin and smiled. "Think I ought to try some?"

Lin chuckled, "Maybe give that suggestion to Kyrie."
She wasn't sure what people did for things that had never been tried on a person before.

"Wherever she is," Earendil grinned. "I'm sure she'll be in to check on me eventually. Or Lancaeriel, if she's not with Cael."
Which, he was certain, she would be.
"It makes me wonder just how much we're going to see of anyone while we're here," he mused. "I mean ... Mari's got a whole country to save, just because she's got the city under her control now doesn't automatically mean the rest of the country will come as easily. And if Cael is going to help her, I'm sure Lancaeriel will go along as well, and I can't see Kyrie not going along to help ..."
That really left Wren here with them, since Earendil couldn't travel. It would be very strange ...

"That's a good question..." Lin murmured thoughtfully, "And I'm not sure how long that would take neither."
She had sort of assumed someone was going to stay behind to help and check up on Earendil.
