Miyuki paused, thinking better of it. She hadn't played a game of cards in a very long time, and in fact tended to stay away from any games that involved any slight of chance. That weird incident from her childhood still haunted her, and she never gotten up the will to tell anyone of her suspicions.
"Nah, I think I'll work on something," Miyuki replied.
Though she wasn't quite sure what she should work on. Maybe preservation runes for traveling with perishable food? Didn't she once think that would be grand when she was a child? Yes, now that Miyuki recalled it, she did think that so she would work on that instead.

"We'll join you," Shiro spoke up as he and Kaito moved to sit on the floor next to the two women.
"I'll pass," Earendil muttered, closing his eyes and leaning his head against the wall. He still wasn't feeling well at all, and he had a feeling that trying to get his eyes to focus on something would only make it worse, not better.
The four began their game, and time passed slowly. After about ten minutes, Kyrie returned to the waiting room, alone but with a tall glass of liquid in her hands.
"Earendil," she said to get his attention. When he looked at her, she held out the glass. "Here. For your stomach."
Earendil didn't bother asking what it was, he simply reached for it and drank it down.
"Thanks," he murmured, handing the empty glass back to her.

Lin waited for a few moments, studying Earendil since it did probably take a moment or two for it to work.
"How are you feeling?" she asked after a bit.

Earendil opened his eyes and looked at Lin and smiled softly.
"A bit better," he murmured. "I think that in a few minutes, I might actually feel normal again. At least I don't feel like I'm going to fall over anymore."
His stomach was settling and his dizziness was going away. He wondered what the drink was. It didn't taste like the malek of the Sky Elves, but it seemed to have the same sort of effect.

Miyuki had heard Kyrie come in, and watched in interest as her father drank it. It didn't have a strong smell, but what little she could smell of it, she figured it wasn't the same stuff the Sky Elves used.
"What was that?" Miyuki asked Kyrie.

Kyrie's eyes flickered briefly to Miyuki before she looked back at Earendil again to make sure he was in fact getting better.
"It's a drink we usually give to pregnant women with severe morning sickness," she replied, "or to those suffering from food poisoning or something similar. I've also given it to humans who have been ill, though that's not really a concern with elves. It was my brother who discovered the formula, and he calls it kashnà in the Dark Elven tongue ... in Common Tongue we might call it simply an anti-nausea drink."
She blinked slowly. "It should take its full effect in only a few more minutes, Earendil," she told him, "and if at that point you still don't feel well, let me know and I can get you something a bit stronger."
Earendil nodded. "Thank you, but it's already working very well," he assured her with a slight smile.

"And how is the child?" Lin asked now that Earendil was feeling better.
Not that Kyrie had been in there for too long, so it was probably too soon to tell.

At that question, Kyrie's brow furrowed ever so slightly.
"His pulse is slow, his breathing shallow," she replied softly, "and he's still extremely dehydrated, despite how much water Iorlas tried to get in him over the past two days. Here we have the supplies to prepare something that will help him more, but it's a question of did we find him in time."
She glanced over her shoulder. "I should go see if he needs anything," she murmured. "I'll be back with more news when I can."
And she slipped back into the other room, out of their sight.
Earendil looked anxiously at Lin. "Think he'll be all right?" he asked.

"I honestly don't know," Lin admitted.
She didn't know much about medicine, and at this point it could go either way. Two to three days out in the elements was very harsh on someone so young.

They waited, and waited, and waited some more, and then at last the five who had been in the back room - Iorlas, Daeron, Kyrie, Ahkshi, and the child - emerged. Iorlas was still carrying the child, looking very pale and worried, and Ahkshi was the one who addressed the group.
"I-Iorlas and D-D-Daeron and the ch-child will be s-staying here w-w-with me tonight," he told them solemnly, speaking in the Common Tongue. "If-f-f he is going to s-s-survive, we n-need to watch him c-c-carefully at all times."
Kyrie put one hand gently on her husband's arm before looking at the others.
"I will take you to the inn so that you can get a room," she told them softly. "Once you have a room, feel free to explore the city. I have only two recommendations for you ... first, that if you're going to leave the inn, you should always have someone with you who can speak the language ... and secondly, that you be inside by nightfall. We are no longer in Caras Galadhon, and outsiders are not trusted. I know you are all good people, but the general populace will not trust you, especially at night."

"Fair enough," Lin murmured.
They really couldn't expect anything less, at least they weren't going to be greeted with hostility, no one could really complain. Though she realized it meant that most of them could only travel in groups of two (or three if Kyrie was with them), or stay at the inn. There weren't many who knew the language of this land.
Miyuki, began to put away the materials she was using, since they were going to go.

Andarien also began to pack his things together. He had made quite a bit of progress on a new design that he'd thought of, and while he was eager to finish it, he knew this was not the time or the place for that.
"Maybe while we're here, we could teach Shiro and Kaito the language," he suggested as he picked up his chest again. "I think Iorlas and I are probably the only ones who know it right now, right?"
Lancaeriel nodded as she helped Wren to pick up the cards they'd been using. "I would also like to learn, if I might," she murmured. "It sounds similar to another tongue I know."
Shiro and Kaito of course would be quick studies, with their minds.

"That sounds like a good idea," Lin was glad Andarien suggested it, but just in case she asked the twins, "Is that alright with the two of you?"
Just because the two had the kind of minds to absorb information like a sponge didn't mean that they shouldn't be asked first. Though she also suspected the two would have an easier time of it after hanging around Lore who studied languages.

Shiro chuckled softly. "I'm surprised you feel the need to ask, Lin," he grinned at her, his red eyes gleaming. "You know I'd never turn down the opportunity to learn something new!"
Kaito didn't say anything for the moment, at least, not until Shiro elbowed him for a response.
"Let me get a good night's sleep first," the pale neko growled. "Ask me again in the morning."
He had not fared well with the game of cards, and after two days (and nights) of flying, which meant a difficult time sleeping, he was flat out grumpy.
Kyrie smiled in amusement. "Sounds like we need to get you that room right away," she murmured. She turned to her husband and kissed him warmly. "See you at home," she told him; and then she motioned for the others to follow her out of the clinic.

"And maybe some food," MIyuki added.
While they did eat on the Dragon, what they could eat was limited, and it was hard to eat while flying. So it wasn't like they ate a lot, more liked snacked if they were feeling brave in trying to grab something from their packs while in the air.
