"I remember," Jordan said, his mouth pulling down unhappily. "I have all those memories. All the things we did here together. But I woke up. We're dreaming. You're caught here, your real memories, locked in something like a gate." He let himself lean into Harrison's touch, just for a moment.
"I need you to come home," he said, and caught Harrison's gaze. "Please. Trust me."
He didn't let Melvin's words distract him. Just a fragment, he reminded himself painfully.

Rep's definition of what was going on was different, slightly out of step with Jordan. Even if it didn't help, he still spoke up, furious at the way Jordan let this Harrison touch him. It was easy to judge from where he was.
"He's not our Harrison." he snapped - saying Harrison's real name was always odd for him, somehow out of place when it wasn't direct. "He belongs to those other ******** guys. The slutty p***k and the b*****d. Not us. His guys are somewhere else now. Maybe behind that gate. Everything's all ******** up and in the wrong place and this place is falling apart."
He punched the floor addressing Harrison now over Jordan. "We either need to ******** tear this world down to wake you up the hard way, or you take us to that ******** gate."
Even in the midst of the argument, the steadily rising fury and indignance, there remained the issue of Melvin, who was trapped.
While Harrison was otherwise caught up with Jordan, Rep darted around him and once again, went for the blonde man. One less person, one less obstacle in freeing Harrison from this nightmare.

"I was going to tell you," Harrison let his hand drop, "about the gate. I had that meeting, like I told you," Harrison turned away, side-eyeing Melvin, but he didn't have it in him to flinch. Not when it came to Jordan and Rep.
"And the Voice let us ask a question. I asked what was in it for them, and they said, you know, the same s**t, they're after the True King...but the Black King, you know that guy, he waited. There were these thrones we each had. s**t- it sounds like a dream even when I say it. And they turned into gates. And when we looked in, it was like...it was like our destiny or whatever. And I was dead, and the whole Kingdom had been wrecked..."
Harrison trailed at the end of the story.
"I was gonna ask. If we had a chance, even, if I should...go into battle. If it would be better, together-"
He's not our Harrison.
Harrison looked up sharply. The words sent chills through him as Rep (whose Rep?) ripped back into Melvin. He felt paralyzed by the words.

The gate. Harrison had seen the gate. Jordan kept his reaction under control, but they were close now, so close. He just had to talk the fragment into showing them where.
The shocked look on Harrison's face at Rep's words told Jordan that his careful maneuvering had just been smashed. s**t. Rep, why did you - No. No time. "We need to wake him up," he said sharply. "Like us, so he's not just remembering this world any more. We have to get to the gate."
He looked back to Harrison and prayed to a God he no longer believed in. Please. Let him go with this, just long enough.

Melvin was speachless as he watched their King actually entertaining them. Part of him wanted to believe he was being calm to keep Jordan and Rep for hurting anyone, but when Rep came and attacked him, sending him falling back and hitting the wall, he saw his King do nothing.
They didn't care if he lived or died.
"All my enemies." He said, eyes wide in shock and betrayal, looking at Rep. "It's like...just like what you said."
He had to save himself. He had to do just as he was instructed.
He had to Run.
A hard lump in his throat choked him, but even still he had to get out. Doing what little he could, he curled his hands over his bleeding body and tried to push through them all to the door that Harrison had opened.

He reeled back from Melvin to look wide eyed to Harrison.
Desperation, waiting by that hospital bed he'd given up hope of having an enemy to fight, being able to do anything to help Harrison, and now he had it he was lost. There was almost nothing he could do, too weak to fight him it was like his mother all over again, all he could do was fail and watch him waste away when they did.
Tears surfaced he couldn't help, his voice a broken rasp as he snarled.
"I promised him. I promised him when he was in trouble I'd never leave him. There was this ******** door back then and we were in the haunted house and it was... I said no ******** matter what. And right now he's somewhere behind that ******** door. Alone."
Memories interlocked and he knew there'd been an echo of that promise somewhere, his false self had made it once upon a time. "And your Rep. The other ******** me. He wouldn't do this to you. But he's like you, he's not real, he was never real, same with the other Jordan. Wherever they are, you should be too."
He looked down at his claws, as if talking to himself, ignoring the way his breathing came only in staggered sobs. "And that means breaking that mirror. Going through the door that the illusion didn't want us to."
And then Melvin ran, the reaction was mostly instinct, like a prey animal fleeing from a hunting dog. He leapt and all the miasma he was carrying, crackling blue along razor talons earthed itself in the other man. Melvin had done nothing but trust in them all, and now this was it.
Even as he realised what he'd done, closing his eyes against the tears of twisted and knotted emotion he hissed. "I'msorry."

There was a commotion that had Candace and Atropos running to the back, where apparently Rep, Jordan and Harrison were...and Melvin. They arrived just as Rep struck the man with sharp glowing talons, stopping in the doorway and just staring. Well...guess the jig was up. She frowned, looking first to Jordan.
"How much does he know now..?" She paused when Rep's apology reached her ears, rubbing the back of her neck and resisting the urge to hug him in comfort. "You had no choice, Rep.."
She looked to Harrison now, watching for his reaction to well...anything. "Harrison..?"

He ran, away from all of the heads of the Kingdom that swore Protection as it's motto, but he didn't go far. The claws sank into him like the caws of a tiger, and he felt himself crumble down to all fours. There was no escape now, and he gasped as he felt the warmth spill across his body.
"Not so..." He breathed, looking up at his king as he moved for that last plea, despite it all, to be saved.
He moved, slowly across the floor, before he fell to his stomach and reached out, barely missing by a few inches to touch Harrison's polished shoes. The tattoo of a blue eye and a rabbit flashed on his hand.
"....lucky."
His blue eyes paled, and the hand that reached out dropped as he exhaled, dead at the King who swore to protect him.

Jerry and Roar were close on Candace's heels, Jerry's face still pale but wrought with resolve. "I... I could set some traps," Jerry hissed, but it would be dangerous- he'd need to avoid hitting the woken if they all wanted to continue forward... better to keep his attacks controlled and-
He winced at the sight of Melvin suddenly sliced down, his stomach churning. Just an illusion, yes.... but he was sorry all the same. Eyes on the mission.

He watched as Melvin died painfully at his feet, curling into the air before disappearing completely. Jordan was a good liar. Rep never had been. There went the production line.
Half the City blown up, all his Officers doing a heel-turn, and the promise that if he endured, he'd get his heart's desire...
The problem with that ******** promise is he had everything already, before. Money, power, love...and the only thing missing from that was Freedom. No matter what he did, what he built, it wasn't from his hard work. It was all because the Voice had done him a favor. And now it sat at the top like the King Almighty himself, dictating that he kill his crew, send the ones he valued most to their deaths, and when he'd asked for what-
To find the True King.
He didn't know if he was the True King. He didn't want to reign over the Earth and heavens above, he just wanted his own piece of it, with the people he cared for taken care of.
When it came down to it, who the hell cared what the Voice wanted.
"I don't know what to think. If you guys got duped, or if-"
Harrison looked at B0nez, who shrugged.
"There's a lot that doesn't add up," Harrison said impatiently. He also gave Jerry and Candace an irritated glare. "I told you two to get to the battlefield," he grumbled, before striding towards them towards the doorway, through Melvin's remains.
"But as far as I can figure, there are two possibilities, right? Follow me."

Candace didn't budge from her spot. "Be angry all you want, I'm not going anywhere. I came here to get my best friend back, not to fight for a kingdom that doesn't even exist in reality." She was not going to the battlefield. She was staying.
She exchanged a look with Atropos as Harrison came toward them, turning on her heel when he said to follow him. Was he taking them to the gate? Oh, she hoped it was this easy.

Jordan breathed a sigh of relief, all the air whooshing out of his lungs at once. This Harrison might or might not believe them, but he seemed to be willing to listen. He fell into step behind Harrison and remembered to breathe.
Ferros moved aside silently to clear the way out of the room.

Rep tried to get his emotions under control, dismissing the claws, hands still shaking, eyeing where Melvin had been. He wasn't okay, he really really wasn't. He'd been at his wits end before they came here and it was all slipping through his fingers.
He looked from Harrison to B0nez, wringing his hands until the blood faded from them too the way Nuks had. And then he followed, because that was all there was he could do.

B0nez tagged along too, trotting at Rep's side and watching him back unabashedly, like he was a particularly interesting code.
"Pssst," he hissed, "so if like, Hughsey's knocked out in some hospital somewhere, what about me? Do you know what the Voice is? Is that like...Death. PS I think we can totally beat it I've been looking at its specs and it has to be doling out major energy to run this s**t and like, it's probably pretty distracted... plus it has to be somewhere...the Silver King was looking for it."
B0nez cleared his throat.
"...He blew up the main Warehouse," B0nez tagged on dismally.
Harrison pressed the button to the elevator.
"Option A, you guys have gotten taken for a ride, in which case we're all pretty ********. But that's the case, I mean, if it was magic or compunction or whatever, if it is you in there-" the sentence hung, heavy, "I don't know. Maybe you'll be able to get through it. Maybe it's a part of all the damn testing."

Jerry glanced to Candace, his expression shaking. It was show time. "He's not going to understand. We can explain all we want but he won't." He hissed. His hands felt the crowbar Roar pushed into them. He could feel the weight of the gun in it's holster at his chest.
It wasn't Harrison, no matter how much it sounded and acted and looked. They had been through so many illusions, how was this any different? Hell, their training, before even being initiated as hunters involved... things like this.
Granted they had been faceless and anonymous but... same principal. Do what it takes. No one would be hurt in the end.
Physically.
He followed wordlessly.
