The night past as the two cuddled, talking off and on. The two made the most of the time they had and stayed up late into the night. They sleep in each others arms peacefully.
Morning inevitable came, and Devon awoke just an hour past dawn. He looked at the ceiling and sighed. It was time. He took a moment to steel himself as he sat up. He looked down, loath to leave Lark. She looked so peaceful now. He knew she wouldn't be once he was gone and he hated that. But he wouldn't be too much better. Devon leaned down to kiss her forehead. He shook her arm lightly. "Lark. It's time."

Lark woke up with a heavy heart after the piece she had in his arms the night before to think he would be here tonight like he always was it shattered her. It didn't matter that he would only be gone a short time like he said, without realizing it the bond between them grew and somehow he had become the one thing she could depend on from day to day like her own personal north star. Lark sat up and hugged him tightly the look on her face spoke for her but she didn't say anything because if she did she would either insist that she go to or that he stays. "I love you." she choked out

Devon looked at her. He couldn't bare to leave her. But he would be back. He pulled her close and kissed her long and hard. When he pulled away his face was still only inches from her. "I love you too. I'll still be with you, My Lark. Even when I'm gone. Just think of me. I won't be away longer than I have too. I'll call you as well." He kissed her forehead and rose to leave.

Lark froze in surprise at the kiss instead of begin overwhelmed with happiness like she always were by his kisses her heart broke and she started to cry despite her efforts not to the tears came freely as she watched Devon walk out the door. "Be safe." was all she said before she broke down completely

Devon steeled himself as he walked out, bidding farewell to his parents. He sent comfort to Lark through their bound, but it was all he could do not to break down. He felt as if his heart was with her. The emptiness in his chest wouldn't fill until he saw her again. Now he finally understood how hard it was for those mates in his pack when he separated them. He gathered his pack together and they headed out on their hunt.

Lark took the comfort Devon was giving her but it didn't ease the hurt she was feeling she just curled up and cried her eyes out she stayed up there most of the day listening to the occasional wolf howling in the yard. She guess it was the rest of the pack outside or least half she heard a lot of movement in the house as well she guessed they were setting in to their rooms and such but none really bothered her when they passed her door they took a sniff and she would see their eyes through the crack of the door and they made some sign of respect like a salute or some other recognition they left her alone in her room on her bed curled up as she was looking out the window. She didn't come out not to eat or anything else because she wasn't hungry and she was too scared. The rouges that were lead by Blake knew that Devon was out with his wolves hunting but it didn't matter they hid their selves to well Blake and his rouges wouldn't show themselves until the time was right they had two more days until the full moon and tonight he and his wolves had a bird to catch.

The two days were frustrating. There was no sign of the rogues. Only a few popped up to send them on a chase before disappearing whenever they felt they were close. It seemed the whole thing was a wide goose chase. Then pack was in a fowl mood because of this.
Kaleb hung up the phone. It was 10 pm and Devon had called to update. It wasn't going well. Both felt that there was something more going on. More and more this chase felt like they were being played with. But why. In Kaleb's experience it meant a distraction. But for what. There was enough pack to protect from a few rouges right? So what was the goal? Neither Alpha had a clue. Something that angered them both. Upstairs the phone rang again. Kaleb guessed there was still time to check in on Lark. The girl wasn't doing well. Yet, he had expected as much. Mates didn't usually leave each others side while the bond was so new. They should have stayed together, but it couldn't be helped. Kaleb turned his attention away to let their phone call me somewhat private.

Lark had been getting weaker the for the past few days she hadn't been eating at all only drinking when Sheryl brought her something and her nerves were shot from the wolves in and outside the house only three wolves would venture in, which is Sheryl, Kaleb, and Theresa, to tried to talk some sense in her and bring her food that she never touches but it wasn't just fear that kept her in her room it was her heartache in fact aside from not leaving her room she didn't have the desire to draw or even leave the bed where she slept mostly and missed Devon. Lark was beginning to think that she was insane but couldn't bring herself to do something about it she took great comfort when Devon called hearing his voice helped if only a little bit and for a short time because when he said goodbye and hung up with no news about when he'd come home she just cried and cried until she went to sleep again. The phone was ringing and she eagerly reached over and picked it up seeing Devon's number. "Devon." She said as bright as she could. Outside Blake, Robin and some others were hiding in a perimeter outside the house where the girl's window was and they could hear every word on the phone in couple of hours most of the wolves would be at the meeting place where they would make their final move because once they had that little bird the king loved so much he'd do anything to get her back alive even give up his crown and once he stepped down Robin would deliever a death blow to the girl killing both in once go at some place far away from the meeting place so she couldn't be saved. Once she was about to hang up from her call she was going to be there plaything.

Devon's shoulders relaxed a little at hearing her voice. He could discern the pain behind the cheeriness, but it only matched his own. Both of them pretended this was okay for each other. He sat on the edge of the bed in his hotel room, waiting for her to tell him what had bee going on. The room was a far cry from his place. it made him miss the bedroom where he spent so much time with Lark. "Lark. How are you doing?" he asked. He closed his eyes as he listened to her reply over the phone, imagining her near.

Lark was imaging Devon was with her also while she kept up this game of pretend that she was okay when he knew that all she did was stay in bed and not eat only drink what ever liquid was given to her but mostly water. But it was good to hear his voice on the phone. "I'm fine. Your mom has been telling me the latest gossip which I think some of the guys have taken to chasing squirrels and rabbits in the area there hasn't been a small animal in the area in couple of days oh and the girls seem to like your garden a lot." Lark said with a small laugh but there was no joy in it but she pretended. They both needed to pretend everything was ok because if they didn't they might both break. "Hows the room seen any mice yet?" she joked lamely but as she was talking she didn't see the two figures in her window looking in and trying to open it silently

Devon chuckled half-heartedly. "I'm a wolf, not a cat. What do I care about mice? " he retorted. "I'm glad my garden is getting some attention while I'm gone." He paused and said gently. "Please, Lark. Try not to isolate yourself so much. The other can at least distract you for a time. I miss you, but I want you to try to fine some peace while I'm gone." He rubbed his eyes wearily. "If this keeps up I might scratch this plan an come back to try to form a new one." He looked out the window. All of this made his temper almost impossible to control. It was only with large that he was calm. His anger would get the best of him if he wasn't careful.

Lark had a half a smile on her face at hearing his chuckle oh how her heart ached at hearing that because she missed him so but the sound was most welcome no matter how much more it hurt her. "I can't go down there and you prom...."she didn't get to finish because Blake and Robin came in her window behind her she only managed a scream to call out for him before everything went dark as she was knocked unconscious. Blake let himself be heard on the phone just to rattle the alpha cage and get him upset so he wasn't thinking clear right before he and Robin made their get away he left the King a little message. "If you want to see the little bird again you'll meet us at the circle at exactly midnight and bring the other alphas..better hurry before we break her.." he chuckled into to phone despite the the commotion in the house and on the phone he made his getaway as he, Robin and the others made out into the night leaving many of Devon's wolves wounded and confused. "Robin you know the plan break her mentality and slap her around a little to drive Devon mad and went I give the word Kill her." Blake ordered as the ran into the night

Robin grinned, as she looked down at the unconcious Lark. "Whatever you say." she purred. She couldn't wait to have her fun. This girl would pain tenfold for what she did.
Devon heard the commotion and stood abruptly as if the act would teleport him to her side. He listened to the commotion with growing horror and the message that the man left. For a moment he stood in silence, the rage that rushed through him immobilizing him briefly. He was literally seeing red and he set aside the remains of the now crushed phone. He stormed out the hotel and down the run-down sections they been searching, heading for the woods beyond. It was a moment he stopped and turned to face his pack, only realizing now he had called them. They all stood anxiously, a safe distance away and standing submissively. Devon didn't even bother explaining. He let the memory of what happened rush through there minds. "We are going after him." he growled, his voice so distorted with fury it was just barely human. "We give him what he wants. And we'll KILL THEM ALL."
Calling the Alphas didn't take long. Devon left no room for disobedience. They come willingly or not.

Blake was at the sight all of the rogues which were mostly turned by himself from the killings and slayers that were also turned by him made an impressive size army one that could stand up to the werewolf king and win because they had all their bases cover and while the humans slept tonight the woods would become a river of blood. He had sent Robin of with the girl to begin the processes of crushing this girl that was named after a bird, the girl he tried to kill when she was young but her father interfered, the girl that had killed his second. She and the White Wolf would be the first to fall tonight and The Black wolf would reign supreme . It was One hour until Showtime. Lark woke up in pain and when she looked up she saw Robin. she tried to move but she couldn't she was chained to a rock and Robin looked different. Something was very wrong.

Robin smiled pleasantly as Lark awoke. "Oh good you're awake." she said, as if she was talking about just another business day. "We have things to do. I want you awake for every moment." Robin leaned closed to the girl and grabbed her face with her now clawed fingers. There was nothing gentle about her touch. Just as there was nothing natural about her supernaturally bright eyes. "I don't know what Devon sees in you. But you know, I don't care anymore. I'll see him pay for my humiliation just as you will, stupid girl." She stepped back and started to transform. "Don't worry. This won't be over quickly."
Devon arrive with many behind him, not just the Alphas, but his pack and a few of theirs as well. Still he was unprepared for the numbers h say. So there was that many. Devon turned his cold stare on Blake. He fury hadn't wavered, but settled into a cold and cruel kind of calm. He new exactly what he was going to do. And he was going to watch all these mutts die like the dogs they were. "So. You think you can just invade my home and take what is mine?" he asked calmly. Only his glowing bright eyes should how close he was to snapping. "You think you can challenge me? You won't survive."
