Weather: Dark rain clouds now cover the sky, hovering over the city and waiting for the perfect moment to let loose the tears welling within their fluffy, dark gray masses. A wind accompanies the clouds as they float across the sky at a sluggish pace, making the temperature drop to a cool 67 degrees. In the words of the weathermen of the local channel on the five o'clock news, "Batten down the hatches, folks! It looks like it'll be a windy night, with rain showing up sometime around six or so, and a 70% chance of a thunderstorm after seven. Gusts up to sixty miles an hour have been reported to the west of us, and are carrying steadily across the waters! Be expecting a drop in temperature, and watch out for sudden gusts and possible flooding! Be sure to stay tuned for the latest weather updates!"
Time: 4:45 in the evening.

Loki stood in the kitchen with her arms around her son. Jarod stood in front of her, leaning into her for comfort, not speaking. Jarod's fall from Plushy's grip hadn't been much of a fall, but because of everything that was going on, he wasn't very careful when trying to stand and and ended up slipping in the water. "I'm sorry I didn't come in here sooner," Loki said. "Come on." She carefully stood and placed the glass on the counter, then took Jarod's hand. "Let's go get you into some dry clothes, alright?" She offered him a smile. "Then we can clean this up before anyone else gets hurt." Jarod nodded and followed his mother's lead. He felt bad about spilling water all over Vanessa's and Rodger's kitchen, but he felt worse about breaking the glass. When he slipped it had finally dropped from his hand and shattered on the ground.
The two walked down the hall and into the bedroom mentioned by Vanessa. Jarod walked into the room first, and they set their backpacks down. He stayed behind to change while Loki went to search for cleaning supplies in the kitchen. Jarod emerged from the room a few minutes later, and quietly made his way towards the kitchen and his mother, unsure of his decision to take on his original features. Loki looked at Jarod - the real Jarod - standing in the kitchen doorway and smiled. "Well hello there, old friend," she joked. "I haven't seen you in a while." After not receiving much of a response she walked over to him, leaned down to his level, and gave him a hug. "I'm sorry Plushy scared you," she began. "I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it." Loki released Jarod and held his hands. "I was talking to him while you were in here with Rodger, and I think Plushy was just really excited to be your friend. I told him about your fire, and he told me about someone who might be able to help you learn more." Jarod looked up at her now. "Maybe he just didn't expect you to be... afraid. I'm sure he's used to the people in this city being used to him. And..." she hesitated. "although I'm not happy that he dropped you, I'm going to forgive him, because I'm sure he didn't mean to drop you, either. He looked like he had something important to do. Even Rodger looked a little bit more serious when he left, don't you think?" Jarod nodded. He thought Rodger had probably looked that way because of the mess in the kitchen, but his mom was... right... about Plushy. It didn't seem to Jarod like the dragon had intentionally hurt him. "Mhmm." "Great." Loki stood up again, but kept her eyes on Jarod. "I think... we just need to get into the swing of things. This place has a rhythm, and we just have to figure it out. Like all those other places we've been. You know?" Jarod brightened up a bit and nodded. "Then we find the notes and play the song." His stomach growled then, and Loki laughed. "Exactly. Why don't you let me finish cleaning up. You see what there is to eat, and then we can make something." "Okay." Jarod went to the refrigerator first. "Mom?" he asked, looking through his options. "Mhmm?" "Maybe now that we found this place... maybe we'll find words here too. Not just notes."

((Yeah, busy seems to be a bit of an understatement. Ha. Sorry for not posting in so freaking long! I should be asleep now, but insomnia is a pain sometimes. By the way, Rikku, I like the uniqueness to the way Noci talks! Not sure if I have said that before, so figured I would throw that in now.))

Rodger returned Noci’s grin as they shook hands. “You’ve stirred things up a bit, here!” he said, both suspicion and approval mingling in his voice. Releasing the seemingly young girl’s hand, he looked to Karinda. “There’s a couple last-minute guests waiting upstairs, so I shouldn’t keep them waiting. I’ll give you the grand tour later, if you want.”
Robert turned and headed back the way he had come, glancing behind him as Karinda followed.
“You’re welcome to come too, Noci,” he stated, his steps pausing a moment before continuing onward.
Rodger led them expertly through the maze of floor-to-ceiling bookcases and to the cluttered backroom, where discarded books and a few waiting to be placed in the library sat in shelves lining the walls. Boxes stacked on the floor made the small space even more cramped, occasionally leaving only thin walkways.
Karinda’s steps faltered a second as Rodger opened a door leading to the staircase leading upward. After Rodger took a few steps, she climbed up behind him, her hand hovering just above the railing.
“So you know, our only real rules here are to respect the books, and don’t disturb the sleeping.” Rodger glanced back at Karinda and Noci, and offered a smile.
“’Tis good to know,” Karinda replied as Saiirin wrapped her silver tail around the girl’s neck, the gentle glow of the dragon’s scales becoming more prominent in the dimly lit stairwell.
“Is Saiirin supposed to be glowing?” Rodger asked, his attention on the door ahead of them as he took the strap holding his key from around his neck.
Saiirin growled, her tail flicking agitatedly before settling back around a grinning Karinda.
I can feel thy smile, the dragon growled to Karinda with a snort.
“Nay,” Karinda answered Rodger as he stopped and placed the key in the door’s keyhole. “During the hours just before dusk, she devoured a glowing mushroom, and thus her scales gained the extra light.”
“I see,” Rodger pushed the door open ((I cannot remember which way I first stated it opened. Correct me if I am wrong)). “Hello, hello!” he called out as he entered, Karinda and Saiirin close behind him.
Catching sight of Loki, he turned toward her and Jarod. “Luckily, it was…” his voice trailed off as he noticed the younger boy who had taken the place of the Jarod he had first seen. “A welcome intruder,” he finished slower, his nose and the corner of his mouth rising in a smile as he continued. “Is this the real Jarod I’m looking at now?”
“‘The real Jarod’?” Karinda questioned, standing aside within the living room, the evening sun filtering in through the large window across from the door, a view of the city visible beyond the clear, now closed glass.
“I’ll let them explain,” Robert said, glancing to Karinda before looking back to Jarod and Loki, awaiting their answer.

Plushy left the meeting to look for kids homework, missing somewhere. Plushy could look around as he did his old bus run, that got moved to olive green street. The sky was getting cloudy some, and plushy worry about the bon fire. Plushy would finish his old bus route before 7:00, but rain would make the bon fire hard to keep going...

((No worries. A roleplay can wait for as long as you need it to, but life doesn't do the same thing. :') Ahaha.))
Loki and Jarod looked up from their positions in the middle of the living room. Jarod had very noticeably cheered up after getting food in his stomach. It had been his suggestion that he and his mother sit in the middle of the living room, where they could watch the door and the window. He was finishing his last mouthful of "self-grilled" sandwich when Rodger opened the door and entered with more guests. "Hello again!" Loki cheerfully replied, standing as she did so, ready to greet anyone new and answer any possible questions about their seating area of choice. She was glad that Rodger had seemed pleasantly surprised by Jarod's change. Jarod swallowed the final mouthful and smiled at Rodger, standing up after his mother. Before he could answer, however, he recognized the girl behind Rodger and was speechless. He nodded, and looked on at her and her dragon in awe. This was the girl he had been impressed by earlier in the day, and that dragon - well, it was much smaller than Plushy, but he had been impressed by it too. Loki also recognized the girl and she chuckled at Jarod's reaction to her. "Yes, that's Jarod as Jarod. I think I should start this introduction." She walked up to the girl with the dragon and offered her right hand. "My name is Loki. I'm a shapeshifter. And this is my son Jarod." Jarod had remained right next to her, and she placed her left hand on his head now. Jarod recalled that he was supposed to explain and turned a light shade of pink. He nodded again, and slowly began. "I looked different this morning, I had brown hair and brown eyes, and I had a different nose, and I was a little taller. But I got rid of it all a little while ago. I can do that because my mom's a shapeshifter." He studied the small dragon on the girl's shoulders. "... this is me without anyone else's face or body." He stopped, remembering that he was hoping for this girl to be a teacher to him. "I'm kind of small, but that's okay, because I don't let it stop me." A bit of his excitement from that morning returned, and he smiled, not realizing that that last bit of information might seem irrelevant to everyone. At this point he was admiring the markings on the side of the girl's face.
