"Then again, we passed by many places on the way here," Earendil chuckled. "Your home is like a town. Even more so than the ranch at Haven. Shops, businesses, an economy ..."
He was very impressed, he had to admit.

Lin chuckled at that, "So I have been told. It's hard to believe at one point it was all of us living in an old inn. It sounds so crowded now after being here for so long."
Even though the inn had been her home for most of her life before the grounds, but now she just couldn't imagine.

Earendil looked around thoughtfully, then shook his head.
"No, I agree," he murmured. "I was going to say it depends on the inn, since some of them can be pretty big ... but no inn would ever be able to hold this many people, not if they've all got their own businesses here like this."
He smiled. "I suppose if they did all still live in an inn, they would have to have their shops in town instead of on the grounds."

"Yea, and that would have made things more difficult," Lin murmured with a nod.
She could see Triton's place up ahead, it was one of the larger singular buildings, unlike Helen and Trisha's place where technically it was two places joined together. It also stood out in its simple design, so it was easy to spot.
Well that, and she could see Iris in her rainbow hair glory sitting in a mini bridge overlooking a koi pond. It looked like she was trying to pet the fish (or catch them, Lin wasn't sure).

Andarien spotted the rainbow-haired neko almost right away. How could he not? Despite her lack of a glow, her hair was hard to miss.
"Nana, who is that?" he asked, tugging on Lin's hand to get her attention and pointing at Iris.

"That would be your cousin Iris, she is Triton's daughter," Lin murmured.
As she said this, Iris plunged her hand into the cold water and waved her arm around. Her eyes lit up, apparently whatever reaction she got out of the fish made her happy.
"Iris!" a voice called, "Stop tormenting the koi!"
The sound of a screen door opening could be heard as Triton poked his head out and sighed.
"Mew!" Iris replied back as she pulled her arm out and ran over to her father, not caring that she got everything else wet.
"What am I going to do with you?" the older neko smiled but sighed all the same.

Andarien's eyes widened in alarm. "What is she doing to the koi?" he asked anxiously, looking at his uncle. "Is she hurting them?"
Earendil chuckled, but he waved at Triton. "Good afternoon," he called out. "Do you have time for us to visit?"

"Of course," Triton replied with a smile before looking to Andarien.
He chuckled a bit, he didn't mean anything bad by it, but it was clear Andarien took things in the worse way.
"No, koi are very shy fish so they swim away whenever there is movement, so her waving her arm around in the water is just scaring them. She likes to watch them though..." Triton put an arm around Iris as she hugged his legs.
All the while ignoring the fact she was getting his pants wet.
"Come on in," he motioned.
It turned out that particular screen door led to his kitchen.

As they headed inside, Andarien sniffed at the air. "Hmm ... it smells good in here," he murmured, his mouth watering a little bit.
They had been offered refreshments in most places they'd visited that day, but not at Helen's place, and they had been there the longest, so Andarien's stomach wasn't as full as it had been earlier.

Triton chuckled at that as he motioned for them to sit. Unlike other homes, he had a low table and cushions on which to sit on. He didn't just do this because of the style of his home, but rather it was easier to deal with Iris when she wasn't trying to fall off her chair.
In general not having as much furniture made it easier to catch her.
"I'm making curry for dinner, it can be cooked in a slow cooker so I don't have to watch the stove all the time," Triton explained, "Would you all like to stay for dinner? I'm not sure what your visit plans are...."
He always tended to make too much of it, and ended up freezing batches.

Andarien and Earendil were taken by surprise by how low the table was, but Andarien was pleased as punch.
"I don't think we have other plans," Earendil said, looking to Lin for confirmation. He eyed the table. "I'm ... not sure I'd fit at your table, though ..."
Even kneeling, for him it would be like eating off the floor. He was simply too tall for it to be practical.

Triton turned for a moment and realized he hadn't taken into account elven height when he ordered his furniture. Of course, the tallest member of his family was only a bit over six feet.
"Hmm....." Triton hummed a bit, "Maybe I can find something...."
Lin had nodded at this idea, but she understood the problem, "Well, you'll be serving it with rice in rice bowls right? Just set it up on the counter where we can serve ourselves and we'll eat out of the bowls on the patio."
Rice bowls could be held in one hand and the spoon or chopsticks in the other. Of course Lin had snuck enough rice bowls out of the kitchen to know how useful they were as carrying containers.

"It will be like traveling again!" Andarien beamed, pleased with the idea of eating outside. "I like eating outside. And it's really nice out, not too hot or anything!"
Earendil chuckled. That was indeed Andarien. Between the weather and food, all he needed otherwise was something mechanical to think about to make him happy as a lark.

"Then I'll get the rice ready, and then we can talk a bit before dinner," Triton offered.
"Actually... about that...." Lin spoke up, "Earendil and I were hoping you could help us with something..."
This caused Triton to pause in mid motion and turned to his sister. It peaked his curiousity because there wasn't much he could help them with and surely his sister couldn't be asking for a spar or lessons.
"Both Miyuki and Andarien have been learning the martial arts from us, but both of them are having trouble. Miyuki at least we know can use a staff, and so far bladed weapons really have not been going so well for her and Andarien we haven't found a style that works for him," Lin admitted, "We're hoping since you have a wide range of styles and weapons if you would maybe run through them with the children and see which we should be focusing on?"
Instead of it simply not working and all of them being frustrated.
"Just the weaponry or hand to hand styles as well?"

Andarien blinked and frowned. "Nana!" he protested. "You said we were going to visit, not have lessons!"
Truth be told, most other types of lessons he wouldn't have minded, but he hated fighting lessons! He was so horrible at them!
"It's not lessons, it's testing out different types of fighting to see if there is anything that you might have any skill with," Earendil explained.
Andarien's frown deepened. "Do I have to?"
