allegory, is a symbolic meaning to an object.

duomo is a cathedral

guild is a group of people who all do the same thing, and get work through the guild, instead of being alot of sperate individuals.

I found out waht some are

retable-a frame of decoration of paintings on the back of an alter (peice?)

valois was a french family who became teh ducks of bunrgundy, which was middle france, belgium and the neverlands... the dukes were into manuscrips and tapestries, and they collected alot of stuff.

gonzaga was also an art collector I think...

treatise is an extensive writing about something.
I'm gonna guess a little more about a confreaternaty that it's probably a part of the relgition... that does such things... :/ (the burrial, singing and tending to the sick).

Duccio Di Bouninsegna
Virgin and Child Enghroned w/ St.s "Maesta" 1308-1311

start to see maneria grecaness surface

siena, that's itally i think

surface of a religous purpose but it also functioned as "art"

landscape is byzantine
formal/semetrical composition
more active then byzantine art

it tells a narrative.
