Sparrow wondered what was wrong with this girl. Sparrow didn't want to give into her especially after the insult she just made. The slytherin was obviously not smart and had no idea what she was talking about. Sparrow said, "That is no way to talk to a fellow classmate." She turned around more showing her prefect badge she happen to be wearing that day. "You continue that behavior and their might be consequences." She whispered the last part before picking up her bags and moving to a different location not wanting to disrupt the class further.

Alex was watching the fight with Sparrow and the Slytherin girl, Alex was deciding on whether or not to intervene but decided that Sparrow could handle it, she was after all a prefect

 Kalle raised an eyebrow as the girl continued to speak, only further insulting everyone around her. 'Thank you Sparrow, but I can control the situation,' she said quietly with a small nod before turning to face the Slytherin once more. 'Any more rude comments from you and points will be taken. Furthermore, I will never teach a student how to kill a creature. If that is all you wish to know, I suggest you seek out knowledge elsewhere.' She turned to the other students once more. 'Sparrow is correct, that is one of the oldest tales of sphinxes in history. Now, before I bore certain students to death I shall begin a game of Riddles. Who shall challenge Tûrwen?' she asked in a raised voice with a sudden brightness in her eye.

Alex wanted to challenge the Sphinx but she was scared to make a fool of herself "professor what happens if we cant answer a riddle?" Alex asked wondering

Sparrow nodded as Professor talked. She just didn't want the Slytherin to think she had won. Sparrow was eager to test her skills in a real situation. She quickly raised her hand and said, "I would like to professor."

Ava smirked. "Professor, with all due respect, Sparrow, if that's her name, seems to have a twitch in her eye. She didn't have to glare at me. Also, I think that we should be taught how to protect ourself incase an animal such as this would attack us. Granted, I know that most animals will not attack you if you do not attack them or threaten them, but some will. But, I do apologize, Sparrow. I will attempt to behave myself if you don't flaunt that badge for petty reasons. Also, I do not appreciate the threat." Ava thought that it was inappropriate for Sparrow to say what she did, and she wanted to make herself heard. What she had said about the animals, though, was true. The Hungarian Horntail attacked her without Ava coming close to the thing. Her hand was burnt, and she lost part of her pinky. That was what caused her dislike of animals. The professor mentioned riddles, and Ava had to say yes to that. "Riddles, huh? I'd love to be tested." If she wasn't in Slytherin for her bloodline and her rich family, she would be in Ravenclaw for her creativity, and her cunning to solve riddles.

Kalle glanced at Alex. 'Well, were we in any other situation and you failed to answer a riddle correctly you would be killed. Of course, I will not allow this to happen under my watch, so I have made a deal with the Sphinx that says she may not harm you.' She then faced Ava. 'I believe this course is called Care of Magical Creatures, not Protection against Magical Creatures. In any case, the only protection you would find would be in the use of spells, which are not what I am here to teach you,' she concluded calmly before turning to Sparrow. 'Why, it would be wonderful if you challenged Tûrwen! To begin, step beside me,' she said, clapping her hands together with excitement that Sparrow was brave enough to be the first.

*Sophia watched with bright eyes. Though, she was curious about one thing...* Professor... What do Sphinxes normally eat when there are no ignorant humans around?
((AH my god... Disneyland was the bomb... The bomb that was so bomby that it exploded.... and then exploded again... I love concert band heart ))

Ava was rather aggrivated with this class. She raised her hand, purposely the hand which was missing half a pinky, and said "Again, professor, with all due respect, I think my point should be at least put into consideration. I, being a person who hates animals due to an incident in my past, of course, do not like the idea of caring for magical creatures. But, I would never harm one, knowing very well that without a wand, I am powerless against one. But, say someone in this class does want to protect themselves against a creature. It would be beneficial to the CARE of the creature if we knew how to protect ourselves properly without injuring the said animal If not, we are more likely to hurt the animal and ourselves in a certain situation." Ava put her hand down, thinking she made her point with the pinky. Her pinky wasn't the greatest thing to look at. The time that it was burnt off was not the greatest day of her life. Rather, it was very brutal. Her experience with dragons was ruined. When she was young, she actually loved animals. Secretely, and a bit unknowingly to herself even, she still loves them. But, she has held in feeling about them due to the incident with the dragon. If she had known how to act around the dragon in the first place, and how to protect herself from the dragon, the dragon would not have flown off and cost the exhibit a ton of money, it also would have saved her finger and never let her horrible experience with dragons create such a viscious memory of them in her mind.
She waited as patiently as she could for the creature to ask a riddle. She did love to test her knowledge.

Kalle turned to Sophia as she spoke; it had been so long since she had said anything. 'A sphinx will eat almost any mammal it can find, though oftentimes sheep are their favourite, and I am not quite sure why,' she said, her voice slowly trailing off as her eyes gleamed with curiosity. She then looked upon Ava with kind eyes, only having to glance at her pinky for a moment to know what had happened. 'I understand what you are saying and why, but I can honestly tell you the only true defense you would have against any magical creature would be the use of your wand,' she said softly before turning back to Sparrow. 'I ask that nobody say an answer out loud while Sparrow is challenging Tûrwen. However, Sparrow, you will have the chance to answer only three riddles before I will allow another student to try,' she said, glancing at Ava. 'After that student's three riddles we will have one more student challenge Tûrwen before we send her on her way. Any questions?'{ Ah, yes, Concert Band is excellent. And I apologize for my tardiness in replying, I was feeling rather patriotic last night and ended up watching the hockey game. }

Fourth year Gryffindor Caiden watched Sparrow step up to the Sphinx and smiled to see how brave she was. He took a seat on the ground in front of her a bit of a ways back so she could easily see him, but so he could also be out of the way of the question asking. The new girl who had started an argument with Sparrow was a bit irritating to him, because, well, Caiden was getting rather defensive around her. But, he had to let her fight her own battles. Sometimes, he wouldn't be there to defend her. But, he wished he would have spoke up. She seemed to have covered it on her own though. She looks so cute with her hair like that... He thought. The pigtails really suited her, and, honestly, it was in style. He smiled at her beauty, and her bravery to step up to the sphinx. "Professor, when the other students who have already asked have their turn, I'd love one as well."
