I managed to work up a theory that seems/can be abit accurate thanks to kuro and her setting up of that thread I can be more organized XD I m just missing a few minor things

Or something was previously stolen (before the murders) and "somebody else had known" about the theft...and that's why the murders started. Maybe Fortune knew something was stolen and that's also why she knew that the murderer was coming for her.
The "somebody else had known" might also refer to Epic...maybe he knew who/what killed Fortune, so they killed him off.
