She felt the rag get removed and she took great gulps of air, not knowing the next time it would get shoved back in.
Not count the students safe...Desdemona was playing a tricky game...she knew that Lillian cared for the students more than anything...by getting to them, she was ensuring Lillian's silence. She gritted her teeth again as the nails dug into her cheek even deeper, but she did not cry out.
"You leave my students alone, Desdemona. Your battle is with me, not them. I took the job from you, not them."

Desdemona slapped her foe across the face and made a noise of disgust.
"The future of the students of Hogwarts has always been my greatest concern," she growled. "And the way you "educate" them is pitiful. The curriculum is weak and pathetic." She paused. "But I'm not above torturing a few to prove that the world is not so bright and happy a place as you paint it, and you certainly don't seem to be clearing any path for them than that. So what will it be, Lilly, my sweet?"

She let out a tiny squeak like a mouse being caught in a trap when the claw cut her face open. She hung onto every one of Desdemona's words, and her eyes grew wider until her eyelids were gone from view and her mouth was slightly open at the end.
"W-what do you want from me?" She pleaded on her knees, trying to scoot as far away from Desdemona as possible.
She stared into those narrowed eyes for what seemed like ages until she replied again. Then she sighed and said with watery eyes: "Do what you wish with me, if you want me dead out of revenge Desdemona, so be it. But please don't hurt them. You can keep me alive and recieve my signatures for your..." She wanted to say twisted..."laws. Just don't hurt them..." She thought of her daughter...she wouldn't dare let Desdemona lay a hand on Al, and if she even mentioned Al then surely Desdemona would go after her as well. "I don't care what happens to me. I don't have much to live for, and life is not always worth the effort..." Here she thought of her husband..and Callysto "But they have so much to live for...let them be."

Desdemona let out a chuckle. She had weakened the great Lillian van Nikolai. Now what could she possibly get out of her in this state? Desdemona always had a plan, yes, but this situation was far too good to pass up.
Sneering at the fallen woman, Desdemona said coldly, "Well, of course I can't kill you. Not yet at least. I would be found out for sure. No, let's keep it like this for a while." She twirled her wand between her fingers.
"All I need from you...is one simple thing. You must obey me completely. No trying to break the Imperius curse this time. Do this and I will not touch the students." 'Unless they deserve it,' she thought bemusedly to herself.

She kept her eyes down and put her head on her knees. She would agree...but first she wanted to know... "Is this all really just for revenge Desdemona? Can't you let it go that I got a job you wanted?"
She sighed, not really expecting an answer, and paused for a moment before lifting her head. This would be her last moment in sanity for what could possibly be a while. Wouldn't anyone just come in and save her the shame of having to obey someone she loathed?
When no one came for a minute or two, she stared out the window. "Very well. No fighting this time. You have my word." But that doesn't mean I won't fight next time..she thought to herself.

Desdemona scoffed. "Why should I let go of something I wanted with every fiber of my being?"
The woman's eyes filled with hatred and anger of several decade's worth of unshed tears. "Did you ever think it hurt me that everyone always preferred you? That no one wanted ugly, weird Desdemona? And finally, when I had my chance to shine, you took it from me! I refuse to be second to you any longer!"
With that, Desdemona aimed a kick at Lillian and spat on her wounded body. Insult to injury in all sense of the phrase.

Lillian looked up with terror into the woman's face, which was contorted with rage and anger. Desdemona didn't even seem to hear that Lillian agreed, she was in such a rage. Then out of no where a well-placed kick hit her directly in the ribs, and she felt one of them crack. Spit landed on her cheek and she howled from the pain in her ribs, and rubbed the spit off with her blood-stained sleeve. She was now coughing uncontrollablly, and she wanted to be imperiused now, just so the pain would leave her.
"I gave you my word..." She moaned "What more do you want? Just do it already..."

Desdemona dropped into the now vacant chair Lillian had been using just minutes ago, and crossed her legs, smirking. Letting the pain soak into her bones was the perfect punishment for bringing up so many awful memories.
She let the hostage revel in pain for a few moments, then, as the clock chimed 6 in the evening, she lightly gripped her wand, causing the injured headmistress to flinch, expecting more pain.
Jeering, Desdemona crooned, "Scared, are we? That's how it should be! Imperio."

She wasn't scared! But before any defiant words could escape from her mouth, she didn't feel anything anymore..infact, she felt completely clear and wonderful and free...
"Anything you wish master..." She said in a flat voice.

"Good," Desdemona said, gloating. She stalked over the the desk and returned with a piece of parchment. There was crabbed handwriting across the page.
"Here is another announcement for you to make. Once you are finished, you may go to sleep."

"Yes..master" She spluttered. She signed the parchment and hobbled to the window and sent it off. Then she lay down on the floor at her masters feet, and slept.

Desdemona smirked at the success of the day's events and settled into the headmistress's throne after detaching herself from the mass of bruises and blood that was Lillian.

Desdemona was roused by the stinging rays of the sunrise penatrating the office windows. Rubbing her bloodshot eyes, she realized she must have dozed off in the headmistress's chair. She stood, and gazed across the room, past the shattered glass and ripped parchment to the slumbering heap on the cold, stone floor.
Snickering, Desdemona made her way to the beaten woman, and aimed a needless kick to her ribs. "Stay asleep until I come back," she whispered. Turning, she unlocked the great mahogany doors with her wand, exited, and deadbolted them once again.
It was time to inspect her kingdom.

Lillian coughed and blood splattered the floor as Desdemona kicked her already beaten body.
"Yes..master." She choked.
Her eyes were rolling around in her head, she could barely see out of blurry eyes. She was alone at last...escape may even be possible..."NO." One side of her yelled..."Listen to master..." it hissed. But she felt awake, alive. Perhaps this was her only chance.

Master wasn't in the office anymore. She had to escape..she had to..Lillian thought, her mind racing and her head glancing in all directions of the room. She knew the school was slowly falling out of her grasp, she could almost remember herself signing the papers, her signature sloppy and shaky. She couldn't remember what they said, when she signed them, but understood that if she didn't warn someone- anyone- the school would fall victim to Desdemona. She was hot in her long gown robes ans she used all of her effort to try and sit. Her leg had kind of shifted when she tried, and then, with forceful energy, she yanked off her long robe, so she was sitting there in a light, short-sleeved, silky and tattered gown. She placed her hands on the top of her desk and pulled herself up to stand. As soon as she moved her leg, she fell on the side of her head. She thought she may be bleeding as that side suddenly felt warm and soft, but she pushed onward, crawling. When she at last reached the door, she yanked on the handle, but she knew it was locked. Master had taken no chances. She had Lillian's wand as well, but when she was in the room, she sometimes kept it out just to taunt Lillian, forcing her away whenever Lillian got too close. Lillian tried everything she could, trying to twist her long nails in the lock, even biting it, gnawing at the lock that kept her from Hogwarts, desperate for any chance of leaving this place. She shoved every single object that would fit into the door, but it wouldn't yield. Once she thought she heard a crack, but it was her frail bones, the knuckles cracking every time she walked. She was trying to force the door open now, using all of her energy and power, digging her nails into the surface, but it would not yield.
"PLEASE!" She screeched at the door infront of her. "I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" She pounded her firsts on the door, screaming and shrieking.
