The girl sighed and turned to the others who were left to stare blankly at the hole in the wall. The head nurse looked at it too and shook her head. "Careless boy," she mumbled as she sighed and ordered the others to get back to work.
Mao noticed Nathan walking behind him and began to walk faster.

Oh no you bloody don't! Nathan thought, silently sprinting until he could lay a hand onto Mao's shoulder but pausing before he would have touched the other man. "You will listen to me, Mao. You don't have to believe me, but you do have to listen, especially if I'm going to admit you were right about something."
His voice was quiet as he stated these things quite close to Mao's ear, still not touching him.

Mao pulled away from him and continued to walk. He had no intention of hurting Nathan, but he wasn't in the mood to listen.

Nathan growled, then grabbed Mao's arm, yanking him backwards until he had his arms firmly around the other man. He forgot where they were, didn't care so long as he could prevent his boyfriend from leaving. His voice came out somewhere between a hiss and a whisper, for the Demon's ears alone.
"Fine. Don't talk to me. But I admit you were right: I shouldn't hug everyone, since they seem to misinterpret it. But I did not kiss her, and I was trying to get her off of me without hurting her."
Then he released Mao, turning on his heel.

Mao sighed. He couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting the urge to almost kill Nathan on the spot. "I told you clearly, but you didn't listen. I'm not going to bother getting angry and I'll simply stay out of your way from now on. Forgive me for thinking there could actually be something between two people that are complete opposites."

"Well there could be, except that you didn't listen a couple of seconds ago. I did listen, but you also said you don't want me to change completely, that you weren't going to either.
I hug people. It's normal. Why do you think I try to help? It's how I am, and though I may change - hell, I have the urge to say f*** it all and climb into bed right now - I don't think I'll give in so soon.
If you really want to try, then find me. If not, continue being an imbecile who doesn't look twice to assess whatever situation it is."
With that, the Angel started to continue walking, not having faced Mao throughout that speech.

It didn't take too much effort for Mao to catch up and grab his arm. At that point almost everyone that was around put all their attention on the two of them. Mao's grip was tight and firm. He pulled Nathan away into a room where they could talk in private. He closed the door, then turned and pinned Nathan to the wall. " If you're going to argue and yell at me, then at least look me in the eye while you're doing it." He then pressed a kiss to Nathan's lips and refused to let him escape from his grasp.

Nathan made a noise of longing, arms coming up to hold onto Mao just as tightly, words forgotten for the moment: he was determined to show Mao what a real kiss from Nathan was so that he'd never make that mistake again.
His fingers tangled in the Demon's hair, his legs wound as close as they could get to Mao so that he couldn't leave either, wrapping his feet around Mao's to tug him in tighter.
He acted as though he were creating a coccoon around them so neither could escape.

Though Mao couldn't move, he managed to pull away from the kiss. "Someone's getting clingy again," he noted with a smirk.

"Uh-huh. But I had to show you what a real kiss is. One I actually want to be involved in." He winked. "Of course I'll kiss you gently too, but not right now.
We're arguing and I want you too much to be gentle."
He cleared his throat and stared into Mao's eyes. "I can change if you want. I can hug only you, Prue and Claire.
I can act terrified, run off if anyone comes even close to touching me - including the kids here.
I can - to adults only, mind you! - shove away anyone who comes in for any contact with a small scream.
But it won't be me. It would mean changing hugely, and eventually it might not even be an act: I'd be so terrified of someone touching me - or even talking to me - and having you misinterpret it, thus leaving me alone."
Nathan shrugged. "Up to you."

Mao sighed. "I don't want you to change. I already told you that. I just want you to consider what could happen. I'm not even sure if you're good at reading people. Can you tell when someone likes you? They kinda give little hints that you can catch on to. I knew you liked me after we met."

Nathan blinked. "Sometimes, but mostly I just see them as a friend - like that nurse. I'd listen to her when she needed me to, help if I could. That's what I do."
He smiled. "When we met, I didn't care that you didn't like me. You needed someone to make you smile and I wanted it to be me: what's the point of being known for helping people if you can't use it to help people who really need it?
People you know just need a bit of coaxing to come out a little bit...?"

Mao sighed. "My point exactly. You don't seem like you're very cautious and in the eyes of others, you seem like the type of person that's easy to take advantage of. I'm not saying this to be mean or punish you as if you were a child. All I'm saying is that you don't always realize that people take kindness as a weakness."
