ZOMG! A PIKA BERRY! 8DDD Responding to Prompt 2
Roise paused at a walkway while a man pushing an ice cream cart lumbered by. The sweet smell made her pause and she reflected that so far, the ice cream cart was the most exciting thing she’d seen all day. And getting up before dawn had made this a very long day.
"Come along, Plum," she said to the Drifblim hovering beside her. Plum had a weakness for sweets and looked ready to follow the man with the cart. "Maybe later," she said to try and brighten Plum’s mood. Plum, too, seemed affected by the slow and boring morning they had shared. And it looked to be a slow and boring afternoon as well.
The pair took a turn down a lesser traveled street which Roise usually liked for its quiet, but today it just served as a reminder at how boring the last few days had been. But then Roise paused. "You hear that, Plum?" She thought she could barely hear what might be a pokémon battle. "Let’s go!" It’s wasn’t illegal to battle in the streets, so an officer wasn’t needed. It just seemed like something exciting to liven up her day. And maybe she could interest the winner in a second battle.
By the time she got there, the battle was over. It looked to have been some sort of small-time gang dispute. The typical north-side-verses-south-side high school dispute. One little punk with hair died so red it was nearly blinding was walking out toward the looser in the center, a very beat up looking Stunky.
"You worthless little stink pot!" he shouted, aiming a fierce kick at the downed pokémon. The Stunky had enough energy to roll away a bit. "Stunk!" The kick connected, but not hard enough to satisfy the punk.
"Plum, get 'im out of there," Roise ordered as she sprinted toward the punk. Plum floated as quickly as she could and then wrapped her low-hanging streamers around the Stunky and lifted him from the ground and began going higher and higher. The punk quickly turned. "Theif! She’s ta-" then Roise was on him. She landed hard on top of him, knocking the wind from him as she pinned him down on the street. She only needed one hand to hold him down and with the other pulled out her badge. "Katarina Police Force, I want this street cleared! Now!" She shouted. None of the high school kids made a fuss about it and began running, some with pokémon following loyally behind.
"Blim blim blim…" Roise could hear Plum high up in the air trying to calm the frazzled Stunky. It didn’t like being so far off the ground, and for whatever reason was also distressed to see his trainer knocked flat.
"You’d better have a good excuse, punk," Roise growled at the kid. When he opened his mouth she slapped him. "There IS no excuse for physically assaulting a pokémon. Especially your own!" She got off him and pulled him to his feet. He’d started crying after being slapped and Roise knew it had probably been a bad idea.
"H-he’s not m-mine… He’s m-my moms…" He said between choked sobs. "Sh-she left Stench to look out f-for me… but he’s too weak!" She could tell he was struggling between anger and grief and worried what answer she might receive to her question. "And where’s your mother?"
"Dead!" He cried harder and up above the Stunky cooed softly, wanting very badly to comfort his trainer. Roise looked up at Plum and signaled her to come down and release the Stunky. Stunky ran over to the boy who leaned down to pick him up. He cried and the Stunky nuzzled him. While the boy was still too emotionally fragile to fight about it, Roise began lecturing him.
"You’re starting your poor Stunky on too hard of opponents. The arenas might not be the 'cool places' but they’ll help you train your Stunky to take on bigger and badder foes. Who knows, maybe you can give those other punks a taste of their own medicine." She bent to her knees so she could look the kid in the eye. His angst was slowly rising to the surface again and she knew she didn’t have a lot of time left to drive her point home, so she went for the gut. "Your mother wouldn’t be happy if you beat up your protector. How will he ever do his job then? Don’t you think she’ll be sad about that?"
He sniffed and rubbed away some of his tears, full scowl returning. "What do you know!" he shouted before turning and running away. Roise knew it must be hard on him to have lost his mother, it had to have been recent with the way he cried about it and still considered the pokémon hers. She only hoped when he was calmer that he’d remember some of what she said.

ZOMG! A PIKA BERRY! 8DDD Responding to Prompt 1
"Not again!" Cab jumped off the nice, sunny rock she’d been sitting on and, camera in hand, dived into the bush after the elusive Glameow. She’d tried the nice way for days now! Little treats, fun toys, everything! But the Glameow always knew exactly when Cab began to focus her camera and would dash away within the instant. Cab had even been able to watch the Glameow for a full half hour one day, but the moment she went for her camera… Every single picture she snapped of this Glameow turned out blurred and out of focus. It was like the pokémon was allergic to shutter-clicks!
She spat out leaves as she crawled through the bushes, the ground seemed to be sloping down a bit but that just made it easier to go as quickly as possible. She began to hear gurgling water over the sound of her quarry and paused a moment. She listened for a while, was she still behind the Glameow? She’d never catch up if she didn’t try. Cab renewed her efforts through the bramble. The sound of water grew closer.
"What is that?" Cab didn’t have the best sense of direction and had no clue how close she was to a small creak set low between cliffs about three feet high. She crawled some more and could tell from the light between the leaves that she was nearing the end of this thick collection of bushes. She went forward with her hands, and when they found nothing beneath them, she lost her balance forward and splashed into water about a foot and a half deep.
She was shook up a bit and shifted into a sitting position with her hands on her head. "Ouch…" Her camera, hanging from one wrist, bumped her in the chin a few times before it stopped swaying, then she opened her eyes in a panic. "Oh nonono!" She took the camera in both hands and checked it over thoroughly. It had gotten scuffed on the rocks which stuck up out of the shallow creek and was wet in a few places. She dried it on her shirt, which was only slightly dryer than the camera, and then tried to turn it on.
She gave a huge sigh of relief when her camera chimed its little start up tune and looked through the view finder. There! Up above her, on the opposite cliff, the Glameow was calmly cleaning itself. She could see a few claw marks on the turf to show the Glameow had also come this way and then climb up. "Got'cha," Cab whispered as she snapped the shot. The camera was digital, so no shutter click was required, but it made the noise anyway as part of its programming. The Glameow’s fur stood on end, it hissed at Cab, and ran off into the bushes. But Cab wasn’t upset this time. This time she succeeded! Now to just get back home and explain this whole mess to Roise.
