Rachael grinned. "Just keep an eye out for Sasha, I won't see very well and I'd rather not run into her...." She said and waited impatiently for them all to begin.

"Atta boy..." She said patting his shoulder. "You and I are going to have loads of fun...." she said with a bright smile an arm still draped over his shoulder. Morgan probably was contenplating homicide but that didn't stop Cathy from having fun.

User Imageai appreciated the fact that this girl called Sonya had invited her to a carnival, but... To be honest, she wished she could have changed clothes slightly before she came. She'd managed to grab a loose shirt to throw over the body-suit, but her feminine attributes were still a bit too emphasized for her liking. That, and she was getting looks from various guys who passed by. Usually she enjoyed the feeling of being admired, but somehow this just felt perverted.

Nonetheless, she did her best to enjoy the carnival. She rode on the Tilt-o-Whirl until she felt queasy and needed to sit down for a while. She had bought a corndog and was nibbling it slowly, licking the ketchup from dripping around the sides of it with much concentration. Should a single drop land on her fingers, they'd be sticky and gross for the rest of the day.

Her final task at the Carnival was to win a prize. After all, no carnival experience was complete without going home with a stuffed toy of some description. Walking around, she saw an excellent stuffed tiger hanging from the prize wall of a sideshow. One of the old, cliche strength tests. Her eyes lit up like sparlking jewels, and she threw down a dollar bill and picked up the heavy mallet.

This wasn't a task for girls like herself, but that tiger was so adorable, she had to have it. Bringing the mallet behind her in tense wind-up, she brought it crashing down onto the target with all her might. The gauge hardly seemed enthusiastic about it's trip to the top, and it stopped at 5 out of the possible 10. "Wimp."

Sighing depressingly, she looked around for one of the males from the institute. Surely one of them would have super strength, or super mallet-smashing ability to help her acquire that tiger...

"No problem! My eyes are on the lookout!" Raze replied, grinning. He was going to enjoy this as much as anyone else, if not more. Maybe later he'd try his luck at one of the games, even though he knew that they were probably rigged.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh, sure. Loads of fun," Morgan said sarcastically, echoing Cathy. Fun was something the Morgan rarely had anymore. Between his own training, helping Emma, and sleeping, he had almost no time to himself. The most "fun" he had was when he aced a particularly nasty training sim. He was itching to get this over with, so Cathy would stop trying to bug him. Of course, there was still that little part of him that was enjoying the attention.

Man, you don't know how to have fun anymore, do you? You're at a carnival, next to a pretty girl who has her arm over your shoulder, and you're sitting in a bumper car! When you were me, you'd be having the time of your life. Or I would. Man, I hate being your conscience sometimes. Remembering which noun to use is a pain in the a**.

Rachael grinned and wished that they'd just hurry up and fill the other cars so she could run into people. "Alright! We're invincible!"

"Aaaaaaawwwww....." She said leaning against him. "You're so cute when you're being sarcastic." She said grinning at him. She was having a great time now. "If you're a good boy, I'll buy you some cotton candy...."

"I haven't been a "good boy" for nearly a year. I'm not about to start now," Morgan replied, waiting for the rest of the people to get in their cars so that the reckless driving could begin.
And for the first time in a good while, Morgan was genuinely starting to enjoy himself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yes!! Invincible! So, when do we start, anyways?" Raze said, looking around for any sign that the smashing had begun.

She smiled at him and laughed. "Thats ok, I'm a bad girl at heart anyways." Still smiling she glared at the empty cars. "Patience is wearing thin...the cotton candy is calling out to me....." She mumbled.

"As soon as the cars are filled...." She said leaning back in the seat with a sigh listening to the music.

Pietro kept a steady eye on the bumper cars... and slowly became aware of their mechanisms. Specifically, the parts he could instantaneously rip away in the event anyone was foolish enough to get near his wife and daughter.

...

Did I just think "wife"?

He shrugged, figuring that would come eventually... he zipped away for an instant and returned with another mountain of cotton candy.

Jamie watched the bumper cars for a minute, before he decided to go check out the rest of the carnival. He saw a girl standing in front of a strenght test looking slightly dejected, and he decided to stop over and check it out.

"Hey." Jamie said with a smile. "You havin' fun with this?" He said, looking over the strength test. Hell, why not? I bet I could do this. Jamie said, giving the man money, and grabbing the hammer. He felt slightly rediculous, standing in the middle of a carnival, holding a hammer and wearing a wife beater, but he shook off the feeling, and brought the hammer around his shoulder. With a swift downward stroke, like he was chopping wood, Jamie slammed the hammer into the button.

There was a ding! as the strength level hit ten, and Jamie smiled slightly. He knew the game was probably fake, but he was beginning to realize that with his training to be an X-man, and his basketball training, he was actually getting fit.

The man handed Jamie the tiger, and he handed it to the girl next to him. "So, I think I saw you earlier. Are you at the institute now?" Jamie said, with a cheerful grin on his face. "Oh, and I'm Jamie." He said, extending his hand for a shake.

Standing next to the speed demon, she watched him from the corner of her eye. Most of her attention was on the bumber cars...until he returned with the cotton candy. This occured at such a moment, that TC was thoroughly startled, and she jolted, falling sideways, and losing one of her gloves under the ride. From her place on the cold earth, she just looked up at Pietro with rather surprised eyes. Some of the make-shift, neon headbands tilted to the right side of her head.

User Imageuite enthusiastically, Kai gleefully took the tiger and squeezed it against her with a big, toothy grin. She squeaked "Thank you!" and leapt upon Jamie with a hug around his neck. Then she withdrew and looked a little sheepish.

"Oops, not supposed to hug people I don't know that well." she said, reprimanding herself in front of him. Looking at him pleasantly and smiling, she introduced herself.

"I'm Kai, you can just call me Kai... uh... I'm mean, I'm Kai Tawhiri, you can just call me Kai!" she corrected herself, immediately giggling nervously in front of him, wringing the tiger a little, hoping she didn't just make a complete a** of herself. He looked quite cute, and it had been a little while since she'd run into a nice guy like him.

"I'm not at the Institute... yet. I don't really know." she confessed, swaying gently in a nervous little movement. "I just went there a few hours ago when Mr Logan called me over. We beat up some robots and then Sonya invited us all to this carnival. I'm still a little clueless as to why I'm here in the first place, really."

An akward moment passed before she decided what to say next. "So... You have someone you're hanging out with?" She looked hopefully at him, biting her bottom lip. "See, I want to ride the Ferris Wheel, but I'm not so good with heights. I need some morale support from a guy who's great enough to win me tigers."

Okay, that did not worked as planned... Not that it was a good plan. She had hoped that the second lashing to the injury would slow Jacen down. The first injury had been an accident. It wasn't out of mal intent that she cause the second whipping of pain. It was out of her own deep seeded fear. She had faced rough opponents before but it was different now that it was Jacen. The rage he put into his last lashings was something she had only seen once before. That scared her. This was not supposed to be like that.

When Jacen moved into the scaffolding, she had to take time to regroup herself. At this point, she wanted to end it before something serious got broken... themselves. She knew they weren't going to hold back in this fight, but she never imagined it would come to this amount of emotion and drama. Of course, it was she and Jacen. There was never anything without drama and emotion.

Assessing the situation, she knew he was aiming to contain her somehow... possibly putting her down for the count. The safest way for her to get to him would be to get him out of that situation so she didn't have to jump in. Unfortunately she had no other weapons on her to lure him out.... or did she. Penance grabbed her side in a show of fake pain and dropped to her knees. Would he bite? Or would she have to go in? She knew there was something fundamentally wrong about playing on Jacen's emotions. But all's fair in love and war, right? She coudln't play his game.

The thing that made her realize she needed to win this was something that went back a long time. She realized why she retained her scar. She realized what she had been holding onto. Today, eventhough it was Jacen and not Rage, she was going to finish this. She held on because for the first time in years she was afraid of losing something. The girl who claimed to had no fears had one and she held onto it for two years. Today she was going to show him that he no longer had power over her, over them. He was gone, a figment of the past. And she would win today.

Come on, bite.

Jonothan was happy that at least Regina had agreed to go along. He looked at the both, "Well, how about we get changed. I don't know about you, but I smell rank as hell after the Danger Room session and really don't want to go out in public like that."

"I will meet you both in the garage in a half hour. Then we can join everybody else."

*half hour later*

Kade and Regina were both waiting for Porter. He had gotten caught into some work business as usual on his way. Scott gave him a heads up on a new secretary which was an interesting thing to have. Finally, somebody to keep track of his own paper work.

"Since we don't have Ms Sonya to take us, we'll go the old fashioned way," He popped the locks on his SUV. The carnival wasn't that far away from them. It was luckily on the Institute's side of Bayville. It made it a quick drive through the fall setting.

Regina took the front seat next to Porter, content to just watch the scenery. Fall was her favorite season; the color changes, the cooler temperature, everything aobut it made her feel at ease. The carnival was looming on the horizon, all it's bright lights and sounds drifting on the cool breeze.

"Hm... I should think about the Thanksgiving feast as soon as we get back. I know I'm going to be cooking... Wonder who's doing the turkey." she commented, idly thinking aloud.

Jamie looked at Kai, surprised first by the fact that she had hugged him, and doubly so at her comment. "See, I want to ride the Ferris Wheel, but I'm not so good with heights. I need some morale support from a guy who's great enough to win me tigers." Jamie thought it over for a minute. "A guy who's great enough to win me tigers. . ."

"Hell, I'm not doing anything else right now, and I've never been on a Ferris Wheel." He said with a smile. Why not? "So where are you from?"

Teagan raised a brow as Rachel pointed to Jamie, contemplating whether or not to drag him with her and join in the merriment of the bumper cars. She turned to look over at him, frowning a bit as she watched him walk off. She shrugged, looking down at her feet, muttering to herself about really needing to act quicker.

She sighed, looking back up at everyone in the bumper cars. She laughed a bit, leaning against the railing as she watched them.
