He chuckled lightly, “I think you have. When Vale took a tumble down that mountainside when he was little I thought that you were going to have a heart attack.” Shrugging lightly, “You have a way with children. If you weren’t brigade you would probably be doing something that involves them.”

“No, nothing to do with us. And whatever it all really is that we’re not allowed to have a part in it. Be that because my mother needs the greater part of attention or whatever my father was thinking, I don’t know.” Shaking his head to that but otherwise letting her try to soothe him as she felt she could. “No we don’t. I don’t know whether to make the best of this or just sit here waiting for something.”

Her face paled at the thought of that particular incident. "I think I did have a heart attack. I thought for sure he was dead..." Shaking her head as she started to shiver in response. His other statement drew her attention and she nodded. "Might have even had one of my own. I mean besides Vale although I consider him my own."

"I don't think he wants you involved anymore than you have to be. And he definitely doesn't want your mother involved so he sent you here to keep an eye on you." Her fingers slid down around his hips and under his tunic, brushing against his bare skin gently. "You're welcome to sit here as long as you like. My fingers are restless so they're just going to climb all over your body as long as you do."

"He surprised you when he popped right back up like it was nothing. I think he surprised all of us. But considering where he came from, I'm sure that fall was nothing for him." Chuckling lightly at the memory, it had indeed been a tense moment with Vale so little and undernourished still. "Nothing says you can't still have one of your own." Shrugging lightly her reached over and laced an arm around her shoulders, knowing that she didn't appreciate the memory at all.

"Something like that I'm sure. I just hope that it all works out." This was one of those situations he was sure that Zykariel would be cheering him on to take advantage of. But he just didn't feel the drive despite the opportunity. "If that's going to make you happy, oh restless one. I on the other hand am drained beyond all belief." Though his brain had a good explanation for that one; all the blood he'd been losing.

"He surprised me a lot in the early days. Knew more than I ever thought he possibly could considering how he'd been raised." Shaking her head and turning into his embrace. He was telling her what he thought she wanted to hear and she appreciated it but she knew it wasn't possible. "Except my age and fertility. By the time I get anywhere close to getting pregnant, I'll be too old to go chasing after the bundle of joy. And it's not fair to bring a child into the world if I'm not intending on being an involved parent." Besides, she'd never even tried to have a child because she wasn't True Bonded to any elf.

"You've had a busy couple of days, Khai. I had plenty of rest back at Twilight but you had hardly any between being concerned about me and dealing with other things. So you need to just lay down and I'll stay with you while you reverie. Then maybe later we can go for a walk or something. I've missed it here."

"Oh please, I'm two times older than you and I'm not counted out of the gene pool yet. You don't give yourself enough credit in all areas of life." Giving her a smirk, "Well then I suppose I'll just have to keep settling you with the little recruits that need a tad bit of mothering still to get them through the hard days."

"No, I can't reverie. There's no point to it right now and if something happens I need to be fully aware of it all so I can handle it." Because for whatever reason, the responsibility was all his now in his head. "A short walk won't hurt if you want to go around the gardens."

She poked him in the tummy and snorted. "You also don't have to carry the child for a year, bear it, and then hear it call you Mommy for the rest of it's life. You'd get to be Daddy which means you'd be the protector and teacher, not the nurturer." Tilting her head and then studying him. "Did you want children of your own, Ty?"

"Malikhai..." Kaelin suddenly thought better of lecturing him and simply shook her head. He wasn't in charge here and nothing was going to happen but he was on pins and needles and nothing she had to say was going to change that. That was pretty clear to her right now. "And we can visit the butterflies." Pausing a moment and rubbing his back, over his tunic this time. "Are you sure you're going to be okay?"

"Oh yes, useless me because all I can do is teach and protect, I don't suffer anything. The thought that the whole of Cafellen society is based on." Giving her a smirk once more that he was playing with her and she knew better at the same time. A thoughtful look came over his features at her question. "I perhaps thought about it a few times, but I had other people to take care of, no time for children." Of course that answer meant deeper than he was saying, and she probably knew it too.

"I'll be fine. If I can take a beating like I did in tournament, a little exhaustion and blood loss isn't going to do me in." Besides, if butterflies were involved, they'd probably run into his brother who was in need of some soothing as well. Dhairiss just liked to be quiet when he was upset and away from everyone. "Come along then, while there's still light."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2009 9:55 pm

"I didn't say that either. You get the stress of watching your wif-" cutting off for a moment. "Well, watching her stress out and go through the pain. And if you're bonded to her...it's even worse so really the Cafellians have nothing to go on." She grew a bit pensive over his answer, recognizing the same longing she had. Yes, he had wanted a child but hadn't had anyway of getting one. She suspected he was a lot like her in that she didn't want to have a child just to have one, but wanted to be bonded to a partner who would be there for her and the baby. Plus, there were probably many women who would bear his child simply because of the ability to exploit his position and the advantages that child would receive. "Maybe someday..." Patting his hand with a sympathetic smile.

She wanted to argue but thought better of it and simply followed him down to the gardens where the butterflies were as plentiful as any other time and Dhairiss was nowhere to be seen. At least not in her current vicinity. Kaelin giggled as a butterfly landed on her shoulder and then another on the top of her head. "I wish we had these down in the Underdark. I guess they need the light to live?"

"All the time in the world. Things tend to happen in a certain order, whether we are aware of them happening in that way or not. That's the beauty of it all I suppose. Otherwise the structure I breed for myself would get to me and I'd go crazy or be a dictating jackass."

"Yeah, they need flowers and flowers need light so in turn they need light. Butterflies are delicate things to be honest." Poking at one that was near him, not really wanting it to land on him. He had crushed a butterfly once and Dhairiss had not taken it well.

"We have them back home. Mom has them in her atrium." Adding his two cents from where he was sitting behind a row of flowery bushes, letting butterflies find him interesting. Took his mind off of things. "I'm sure she wouldn't mind you going in there every now and then."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:51 pm

"Who says you're not?" Giving him a smirk since they both knew that he wasn't and she was just teasing him. He had his moments where he could be less than kind but they were always warranted and almost never over the top. "I will say this, if I could pick anyone to be the father of my baby, it would be you, Ty."

Kaelin's ears twitched at the younger elf's voice and she pushed through the bushes and flowers and such until she found Dhairiss. Kneeling down beside him, she watched the majority of the butterflies on her transfer to him. "Probably not. Your mom is pretty good about that sort of thing. Are you okay, Dhairiss?"

"I never said I wasn't at some point." Chuckling as well to her poking as they both knew exactly how he could be. Sometimes he was indeed harsh but those time were often warranted. "While you're not the first woman to say that to me, you would be one that I wouldn't roll my eyes at and tell you run along now like a good girl."

That boy was some strange butterfly magnet. It was odd but Khai took the time to stand back, deciding not to crowd the two of them and risk butterfly upset.

He indeed was quiet unlike usual and was merely letting the butterflies play on him, offering up fingertips every now and again for them to land on. "Yeah she's easy going. Long as nothing gets messed up in there." A little shrug from him. " 'Spose I am...considering everything."

Hey look, we found a wormhole...and ended up ten years later!

Time Jump

"Yes to this one. No to those three, and tell Arrowheart that I want a different green for the solar. I thought the ivy would work with the current furniture but it's not quite what I imagined. It turns a rather disgusting color right when the sun shines through the windows." Lark glanced through the rest of the correspondence on the small writing desk she'd taken over and waved off her assistant's questions. "Then tell her to meet me here tomorrow afternoon and we'll discuss it. I entertain too much to have an ugly room. Is that all? Good."

She was tired, far more tired than normal and finally dismissed everyone and stood at the window, gazing out over the land that she now ruled beside her husband. Yes, she now had the title of Queen and the tattoo on her cheek to prove it. And she had cried all night in Nyc's arms after it had been put there, too. He'd taken care of a lot of those little hurts that had shown up over the last couple of years since they'd gotten married. She found herself wishing he'd pop up right now but that was impossible since he was attending a council meeting without her. She'd chosen to stay home since she'd been feeling rather tired lately and he'd only gone along with it because she'd insisted and she knew she had looked pretty bad two days ago. She just needed a break...and right now the sun was working wonders to provide it.

Lhia, on the other hand, was feeling like she'd just been thrown onto the sun and then allowed to float gently back down to the plane. She and Ty's relationship had blossomed over the last ten years in ways even she hadn't quite been able to predict. Brigade had reacted pretty well to it all and Lhia no longer heard 'Master's whore' echoing through the hallways. The first time Syrinne had said it, she'd cried. Then she realized it was jealousy and enjoyed her relationship with Ty even more. He'd opened her up, allowed her to feel comfortable in her own skin and even the way she reacted to him and felt about him. Stirring from the in-between place she'd gone, she snuggled deeper in his arms, tilted her head back and smiled at him. "I love you, Ty." First time in a long time that she'd ever uttered the words. But it felt right and was right.

Another ten years had passed and Galesen was feeling as good as he always had been. His jobs on Andal were still heading strong and he had his house fixed after his little problem he had years ago, the only thing that reminded him of it all was the scar on his chest. But at least he wasn't wearing the gauntlets, the energy he received had been taken in and now he was use to it, his body wasn't cold and he didn't worry about any magic flares. At the moment though he was busy cooking himself a little bit of breakfast as he stood in nothing but pants. "I'm guessing you want blueberries with your waffles, eh blueberry queen?" He was of course teasing Isle who sat at the table, but he was mostly focusing on the waffles he was making, didn't want to burn them and such.

But aside from making some good homemade waffles Galesen was trying to think of what he wanted to do today, aside from his little surfboard business he had a lot of free time when he wanted it. He had been thinking of trying to write some musical pieces but he kept quiet about that for the moment, aside from that he was thinking of going fishing, maybe even taking a trip down to Selkor.

Are stumbled into the room as she almost slammed into the girl that was leaving. Still had very bad timing. A shake of her head as she had righted herself and she came over to stand next to a partially zoned out Lharika. "I was surprised that you weren't going to council. Nyc said you hadn't been feeling so well." Pulling a letter out of the scarf around her neck, she seemed to hide all her things in there, and held it out. "From your parents, nothing important, just idle checking." Rocking on her heels lightly and looking out the window. "You should open it. The window I mean. There's a nice breeze today."

They were taking some personal time together, because he was Brigade Master and he said so. Well, he'd like to say that but in reality he was recovering from an incident that involved a young recruid, a staff, and his head. He was missing the council today, but Lhia had insisted that he take a day to himself and relax and had already sent Vale to sit in his place and take notes.

Which wasn't such a bad idea on her part as it meant they could just be lazy together today and enjoy each other. Which he was making the most of, despite cranial injury. He was fine anyway. He had to admit though, he was surprised to hear those words come out of her mouth that made his ears twitch as if to listen closer. However he just grinned at her in teasing fashion, "I thought we didn't use words?"

"You would be guessing correctly." Indeed she was sitting lazy like at the table with her arms crossed on it and resting her head on her arms. It wasn't uncommon for her to spend the night at Gale's place, especially since Nillrik didn't demand her complete attention anymore. "You have fresh ones right? I don't want ones that have been sitting in your pantry or on ice for days on end."

"He's worried about me. I really am fine though, just tired." She blinked as her assistant paused in the doorway and gave her a coy smile but simply shrugged it off. Taking the letter, she dropped it on her desk to read later and then grinned. "I was thinking the same thing. I was going to go sit in the garden but last time I dropped into reverie out there on a chaise and no one knew where I was. Nyc was about to send a search party into Carris when they finally found me." Lark smiled at her dearest friend and walked over, pulling her into a hug. "I'm really glad you're here. My staff has been driving me crazy all day."

Two spots of color filled her cheeks and she ducked her head for a moment then nuzzled him. "We don't normally, but it feels right today and I've wanted to say it for a long time. I guess I just can't keep it inside any longer." Silence reigned for a moment and then she frowned. "Does that bother you?" As well as she knew him...sometimes she just couldn't tell how he was feeling about things. And she knew he'd worry if he wasn't ready to say it back just yet. He'd be afraid he'd upset her or hurt her feelings. "It's okay if you don't want to use them though."
