"I guess my life moves fast. I was married at twelve." It wasn't a fact that she shared with much people, but he was much older than he looked, so he might understand.

Some liquor caught in Charles's throat, but quickly settled and went down. "At twelve? I guess life did move fast for you! But hey, congrats! He's one lucky guy. So you married into leadership?"
The Chauffeur stopped and thought about it for a moment. "No, wait, you would have had to be a descendant of someone in charge, and so you married to have more little descendants. Am I hitting somewhere in the ballpark here?"

"Not even vaguely. In my first clan I was an orphan, and I married at what was considered the normal age to gain even some status. Many years later I came here and fell in love with the leader." she stared down at the bottole of her mug "but we never married."

Charles set down his empty beer bottle, giving it a little spin. "Am... I hitting a nerve here? We can change the subject."

"A bundle of them, the size of a football field," she smiled slightly, and drained the rest of the beer "It's ok, I think I'm going to go and check up on the others, if you don't mind." She gave him a little wave and went out the front door.

A mental and physical slap to the forehead later, Charles discarded his empty beer bottles, standing up as if he had been drinking water this whole time. "A little more tact, Charlie boy," he said to the empty room, "a little more tact."
The Chauffeur started for the door, stopped, and groaned aloud. "I forgot to ask her where the Men's dorms were. Dammit..."
"Well, it's not like I have any luggage anyway; may as well go check out that tournament Pale mentioned. I'm sure a stadium shouldn't be too hard to find."

Cloud wandered into the tavern and sat down heavily on a stool. She looked at the bartender with swollen eyes.
"The biggest glass of the hardest thing you've got."
She rested her head on her folded arms which were lying comfortably on the bar. She waited for her drink and sipped it slowly, letting her mind wander like she always did.

Pale came back to the bar, her hair in a mess and her face red and flustered. She had come to quickly grab a few drinks, but she saw Cloud there. It had been ages since she'd seen here! The other stuff could wait "Hey there."

Cloud took a booth and ordered herself as many rounds as possible. Her eyes grew heavy the longer she sat there, and she let them slide down, letting herself drift into a drunken sleep on the booth table.

Cloud looked around groggily.
"What's the point of waking up?" She looked deep into Pale's eyes and finished off the glass that had been waiting patiently in front of her tired head.

Cloud patted the table across from her to invite Pale to sit down.
"In all honesty, I have no reason to be awake." Cloud ordered herself another drink and settled down.

Cloud finished off her drink and gave a weak smile to Pale.

She grabbed her jacket and walked away.
