Serethiel Maerukai Kay first of all, it's a paintover.. which is basically just a quick sketch over an existing piece to lay out lighting and composition; etc.
The hair is SUPPOSED to be static. Vierdah's lived underwater in a cave for hundreds of years eating drow. I don't really think she cares much about the frizzies.
Lockwood has been in the business for upwards of forty years now-- and his chief medium is oil paint. I think it's only natural that style would carry over to digital work. I will try to improve upon his example to the best of my ability, though. As I said, just a personal opinion. And just a question, did you perhaps base this character off of that one dragon lady in beowulf? for some reason she reminds me of her even though I know the two look next to nothing alike.

No, Vierdah's been a character of mine long before that movie came out. And she's a mermaid type thing... not really anything like Jolie's character...
