:3 Depending on what you're applying for, you can use words from postings. For instance, if you're looking to be an admin assistant, you can use stuff like "team player but will excel at independent work" (see last bullet on link), and so forth. Just plug in what you're after at a big job board like Monster and get a gist of the buzz/popular words used and drop them into your cover letter (or even resume).
That's true. But I'm applying for a teaching position...anywhere. I just completed my degree so I'd love to have a job in the field, but we'll see. I agree, though. It's beneficial if you're able to put key phrases in, but I have to analyze the community the school is in and then write about that as well...while keeping it under ten sentences, haha. I'll get it eventually.

As for today, I'm continuing the process and clearing the balcony so I can eventually have a garden space while taking measurements for a tiered planter. I also ordered some tomato seeds from WinterSown so hopefully I'll get those soon. AND, I've begun my collecting of 5gal buckets. I've got one! Huzzah!

I slept for about 5 hours after getting home from work this morning, then i cooked some scrambled egg's with a hamburger and some whole wheat toast for lunch, and i've just been watching prepper video's on youtube for a while now and doing some light reading.
Thinking about picking up the book "One second after" because it sounds like a good read. I need to take the blade off of the mower and sharpen it tomorrow so i can mow the lawn this weekend.

Oh and i found out that the 5 gallon buckets at home depot are "food safe" so the flour and sugar and rice i've got stored in buckets is all safe. I may have convinced my mother to allow me to build some rabbit hutches in the garage so i can raise an alternative source of meat. But i'd have to insulate the garage and get some stuff moved out of there...or build a shed to keep all the chemicals and oil and gas in. I would also lose my knife making shop space.

MOAR WEEDING!
PostPosted: Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:45 am

Are there any food processing plants near you guys who are collecting buckets? My husband is always bringing home buckets! If you were closer, I would share. They receive pickle slices, etc., in 5-gallon buckets, and pickled jalapenos in 55-gallon plastic drums. It might be worth your time to see what is manufactured where you are.

One of my neighbors came home from the hospital last night!!! I haven't had the chance to sit and visit with her yet, the yard was full of family, but we will visit when she's ready. It was good just to see her! and to see lights on at her house!

Planted some flowers last night, going to try to get some more planted this afternoon and evening. It's hot. Looks like we're going from mud to dust again this year. I haven't even refilled the hummingbird feeders yet----but the mulberry trees are loaded with fruit, so they'll be fine until I get there.

Has everyone stayed safe in this weather? With so much going on here, I haven't had time to check on you all. I hope everyone is doing well.

Planted corn, squash, sunflowers, herbs and other stuff.
It isn't helping as much as I had hoped- I'm feeling really down and I should get back out in the sun.

I collected: barberry, columbine, baby pine, lupin, baby irises and fern "weeds" today. I have a whole whack of freebie "weed" plants from my job out on the porch. Getting soil tomorrow and reorganizing. Freebie strawberries are flowering, calendula and humming bird mix has sprouted (though I fear that I planted them too late), my crispy car fire plants are doing very well.

I also went to the hospital to - lol - get a sliver removed from the inside crease of my thumb. I've been digging at it for days (usually with my grubby fingers) and it was starting to hurt and swell. Have the weekend off for it to heal so thought it best to get it out professionally. They froze it and operated on my thumb. Nurse was telling me that he once pulled an inch long sliver that was in a guy for three years. eek

Also got a tetanus shot while there too.

I'm really happy about my freebie plants though. LOVE the barberry. So beautiful. And the tiny wee wittle coniferous trees. Pictures to come.

Its been beautiful perfect planting and weeding weather the last few days, but I haven't been able to enjoy them since I got a 'full time job' at my uncle's new sushi bistro has a hostess. :I its a demanding job, personality wise, I'm not a very social butterfly not to mention clothing. I don't have that many formal clothing.

I transplanting some tomato plants and soaked some peas in hopes of putting them in some old plastic pots I found in my yard, so at least some food is growing. Its like a strange tick, I need something yummy growing in the yard otherwise I'm completely off! rofl

Found a small sunflower seedling sprouting in my yard from last year's flower, biggrin I'll probably transplanting it somewhere nice and sunny.

Today I am going to take up some sod so I have more garden space- not much, just a boarder so I can plant more Sun Flowers!

I think I will also end up fixing my sewing machine and doing some beading.

OK- the boarder idea isn't turning out so hot. I have some stuff- but I ended up just planting a holly hawk because taking the sod up was unbearable.

I planted more beets, and I did some more weeding. I'm so tired of weeding! gonk

I also transplanted our tomatoes, woodruf, motherwort, valerane and peppers.

Well, so far I've cleaned a little bit of the house, gone to a baby shower, and wanted to kill my dogs... XD
Later, I'll probably sit on the computer some more, clean a bit of my room, and then fall asleep.
What an eventful day!

How are you trying to take up your sod? just going at it with a shovel or do you have the right tools?

I found its pretty easy if you take a sharp bladed flat wide shovel or even a machete and cut a line say 8 feet long then a foot or two away cut another line parallel to the first then at 2 foot increments go ahead and cut again perpendicular like your making a bunch of squares then take a flat bladed shovel that has a very sharp blade (just hit it with a good single cut mill file to sharpen it) it should slice through roots and such much easier then you'll be able to lift out your squares one at a time and stack them up. (i realize after thinking back at doing this that my description makes it sound far less labor intensive than it is...its still hard compared to using a machine but far easier than having dull or improper tools)

Had a boring day at work, came home to work on my truck but things came up and now i'm working on it tomorrow. Working on fixing the rototiller right now because its not running properly, already replaced the air filter, the fuel filter, the spark plug, and now i need to adjust the timing and put some new oil into it.
How is it that i've kept a cheapo broken tiller running every spring and fall for the last 12-13 years (got it when i was like 10 or 11 and i've been fixing it all this time) that's probably got more working hours on it than my truck has miles on it but i can't fix my truck lol.

That's the end of my day's rant because i'm done cooling off and ready to venture back outside to the wonderful world of 100 degree's in the garage.

I've had to close at work the past three nights, then worked this morning. Bit of a drag, but it's money so I can't complain. BUT in much brighter news: we use 5gal buckets at work. I now have four! Pretty excited about that. And we should be building the planter(s) tomorrow before I head into work. so perhaps I'll have a miniature garden update soon!

That's a great idea- I just don't have the equipment. sweatdrop

I'm getting the measurements for the belt for my sewing machine.
I did some weeding and we're installing the window boxes today, planting the rest of the sunflower seeds and refinishing the mailbox.
