Kasiya awaited nervously in a lobby of sorts, finding herself surrounded by other people who all seemed to hold some level of anxiety within them. Glancing down at her feet, Kasiya saw elegant lace-up sandals, the laces of which ran up her calves on either side. For some reason she thought her legs seemed more slender than she recalled and more feminine somehow. Her hair was longer now too, and pulled back in a loose yet elegant bun, allowing wisps of her golden blonde hair to frame her features. She adjusted her skirt a little, finding it to be a fiery shade of orange and somehow reminded her of those orange lilies that often bloomed in early spring, and the ruffles and folds of which seemingly danced like fire with each of her movements. Her matching top criss-crossed her back and looped around her neck, coming down just enough to leave a hint of her stomach showing if she moved just right. She remembered choosing this outfit specifically because from afar it made her look as though she were wearing live flames, and it suited her theme quite nicely. Her hand grasped the familiar lightning-shaped silver pendant she wore around her neck as she heard her name being called, and she took a deep breath and stepped through the curtain-shrouded door in front of her.

She now stood in a stadium she knew she didn't recognize, yet as the cheers of the crowd - no the audience - flooded her ears, her unease melted away and she grinned broadly and waved. Nearby she could see all her friends seated in the stands, each cheering and waving at her excitedly. Kasiya acknowledged them with another wave before taking her spot. As the cheers died down and silence settled in, she held a single Pokeball in her hands. It was different than any other Pokeball she'd ever seen, almost as though it were in some sort of capsule itself, and the clear outer-layer was decorated with images of wispy flames. It was time. "Let's give them a show!" she called, twirling once on her feet and launching the sphere into the air. It burst open in a cascade of glittering, holographic flames, and a Pokemon she knew had a name, yet at the same time couldn't recall, came shooting out of its confinement like a comet, did a neat flip in the air and came to rest on all fours. Her bushy main and tail were shiny and well groomed, as well as the rest of her lovely orange fur. The Flareon let out a sharp bark and stamped a foot, causing the crowd to cheer again.

Kasiya closed her eyes. They'd worked so hard on this routine and now it was crunch time. Raising an arm in the air, she tried to keep her voice steady as she gave her first command. Planting her four feet firmly, the Flareon opened her mouth as a steady stream of flames billowed forth, curving and twisting until they formed a cylindrical tower, two feet in diameter and fifteen feet high. Once the Fire Spin had been completed, Kasiya gave her next order, knowing that time was of the essence, and the Flareon was quick to respond, releasing a mid-powered Shadow Ball at tower. The orb was shredded and torn asunder as it struck the flames, dark rifts now melding with the flames and causing the cylinder to look as though burning with a dark fire. Finally, she lowered her arm in a quick slashing motion, and the Flareon darted forward, leaping into a Quick Attack to give her a burst of speed as her tail began to shine with a steely, silver hue. Using her newfound speed the Flareon then jumped high into the air, curling her body carefully as she hurtled towards the dark, fiery tower. At the last possible moment she uncoiled, bringing her Iron Tail down on the top of the fire tower, causing it to split down the middle as though hit by a woodsman's ax. The Flareon landed safely on all fours, striking a lovely pose as dark wisps of flame rained down around her, shimmering into her body as her Flash Fire ability rendered any possible damage harmless. The crowd was silent for a moment before the cheers became deafening.

Kasiya opened her eyes slowly, finding herself to be a little disoriented at first. Everything around her felt so silent and loud at the same time, and as she sat up, she remembered where she was. The dream was fresh in her mind as she could not for the life of her get the image of the beautiful Flareon out of her mind. The only other person she knew who owned one was Kilik, but his was male. The one she'd seen in her dream was definitely female. Her thoughts were then interrupted by the tantalizing smell of food, and when she listened closely she could hear someone bustling around in the kitchen downstairs. She stood up and stretched, noting that Keegan had been up and gone already and Helios was still sound asleep on the bed. She gathered her things and went to the bathroom to clean up and get dressed, not wanting to be late for breakfast and leave a bad impression on Keegan's parents. Her new outfit was different than the one she wore yesterday, yet still seemed to be quite in Kasiya's style. Some of her hair had been pulled into a small ponytail at the left side of her head, and action she'd done on a whim while brushing it out only moments ago. Feeling ready to face the day, breakfast included, she then headed downstairs, wondering who was up and about already.

Both Robin and the other trainer eyed each other for a moment. Pulling out her pokedex Robin scanned Staryu reading it for a moment and scanning the moves it knew before groaning slightly. This battle would be long and difficult simply because the Staryu could heal all the damage that Raz could deal. Clicking her pokedex shut she gave a determined look across the make due arena. "All right Raz lets start with a Sonic Boom and don't let up!" She ordered pointing dramatically again. Giving a sharp cry the dragonfly pokemon did a little flip in the air before blasting forward.

"Hit him with your Water Gun Staryu!" The other trainer ordered trying his best to ignore Robin's over dramatics. The Staryu twisted somewhat and before a stream of water came out and blasted Raz right in the face. The small Yanma was not deterred though and he pushed through to blast the Staryu as well.

Turning around Raz appeared back in his normal spot his body glowing as his speed went up and a few drops of water still fell from his shell and wings. "Come on Raz lets go again! Sonic Boom!" Giving a small cheer the determined bug zipped forward once again.

Since the Water Gun hadn't stopped the Dragonfly maybe Rapid Spin would? "Come on Staryu lets try your Rapid Spin!" Maybe the high spin of the attack would help repel some of the damage of the attack.

While a good theory it didn't seem to be the case, Sonic Boom did the same amount of damage no matter the circumstances if it hit. The Rapid Spin did do something else it manged to nick Razputin's wing causing the Yanma to give a startled cry and spin off to the side. It was a good thing that the attack had already been made so the determined little Yanma didn't have to keep pushing himself. Instead the dragonfly managed to fly back to Robin before landing on the ground his wing hurting and messing with his flying.

"Oh Raz! Are you ok?" Robin had never thought that something like that would happen to her pokemon. She gazed worriedly at her damaged pokemon. On her shoulder Luffy gazed down a determined look on his face as he studied his comrade. Looking up from his place on the ground Raz tried not to wince at the pain coming from his damaged wing. Seeing the worried gaze of his new trainer and the confident eyes of his fellow nakama he felt a bit of courage grow in him. Sure he was in pain but it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. His team members were counting on him to help them win this battle and thats what he was going to do!

Mike awoke unceremoniously in the Lavaridge Gym, flinging his arms out and letting out a somewhat intentionally loud yawn as he stretched. It wasn't the greatest sleep of his life, but whatever. He flicked his hand open and gasped: something was missing. The flowers! In a mild panic he shot up and spun around, looking to see if he had dropped them or even worse, sat on them. Seconds later, and much to his relief, Mike saw the very flowers he bought on the table beside the chair he slept in. Oddly enough, they were in a vase, prepared with water and everything. "That's funny." Mike said to himself, scratching his chin at what lay before him. He glanced down at Nitro, who was still fast asleep, and shook his head dismissively. "Nah." It's not that his Charizard was numb to the human emotion of kindness, he was just a real heavy sleeper and Mike doubted that he would take the time to rummage through his trainer's girlfriend's things to preserve some flowers. Flannery must have come in late to check on the Gym. Impulsively, Mike lifted his hand and touched his left cheek. After a second or two there it was, the ever so faint disturbance of a kiss planted many hours ago. He smiled at the thought of him getting a ninja kiss in the middle of the night; it was exciting!

Mike recalled Nitro, figuring he would let him sleep some more and made his way out of the Gym. The sun had already risen, but barely poked out from the commanding Mt. Chimney. By the distance up the volcano it was he'd say it was about nine o' clock or so. The clean Lavaridge air on his face only served called to attention the level of dirt and dust littering the boy's skin. The contrast was sickening. With an audible 'yuck' Mike departed for his house. "Time for a shower."

Thankfully his hometown wasn't the largest in Hoenn (it was in fact, easily one of the smallest), so cross town travels took at the most a half an hour to forty five minutes. The distance home from the Gym was much less though, ten minutes tops. As Mike arrived at his fairly quaint home, something caught his eye: a note taped to the door. Mike squinted as he read it, his tired eyes still not adjusted to the bright morning light after just waking up. Welcome home sweetie! it said simply, his inner monologue reading the note aloud in his mother's quick and somewhat nasally voice. "How did she know I was home?" Mike said to himself. He'd only been home for eight hours tops, and it was almost midnight when he came home. Then again, his mother had eyes all over the town, he wouldn't be surprised if she went so far as to install hidden cameras all around so she could monitor her son at all times. She was a bit...protective. "At least I know where I get it from." He sighed. As he reached for the handle, Mike noticed something else mounted to the door. A full bottle of kerosene was crudely duct taped below the eye hole. With an uenthused grumble he took it. Sadly enough, posting a bottle of highly flammable chemicals on the front door with nothing but a casual application of duct tape wasn't the most wacky thing she had done.

As was proven when Mike actually opened the door. No sooner did he look up than he was greeted by a blindingly shiny object being thrown at him at an incredible speed. "MaAaAaAaAaAGNE!"

"Jesus Christ!" shouted the boy as he dove out of the way, the 'projectile' barely missing him. After a loud crash, Mike looked behind him to see Proton stuck in a tree, all three of its emotionless eyes turning to face their trainer. The Magneton wiggled its magnets back and forth, something Mike could only assume was a greeting of sorts, like a wave.

"Ah good," a quick and somewhat nasally voice rang out. "You dodged it." Out from the door frame walked Mike's mother Karen, her white lab coat and comically large glasses shimmering in the morning sun. In her hand she held an utterly gigantic gun like contraption, the front looking like a giant disc shooter. "Welcome home sweetie!" the woman called out, lifting her glasses to take a clearer look at her son. "I just wanted to test your reflexes," she shook the machine in her hand for reference. "You always gotta be on your toes out there. It's a dangerous world after all." She smiled innocently, clicking a large blue button on the shooting device and pointing it at the stuck Magneton. After a moment, Proton was ripped from the tree and sucked into the large contraption, fitting perfectly into the circular slot. Karen fumbled back a step at the impact, but held her invention up high with utmost pride shining on her face. "Success!" She cried out. "My Proton Launcher 2.0 works!"

Mike could only close his eyes and bring an open palm to his face.

"Hi mom." Mike said with a strained smile. "I'm happy to be back, but I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't use Proton, or any of my Pokemon for that matter, as improvised ammunition." He glanced back at the now destroyed tree and shook his head. The boy could only laugh at the very idea of a Magneton cannon, but in the back of his mind he agreed that the concept was kinda cool; in a utterly psychotic sort of way.

"But Proton loves helping me with my inventions!" Karen replied, unhooking the Magneton from the device. "He's such a darling." The woman smiled as the now free Magnet Pokemon floated upward and began circling around its trainer, buzzing happily at the sight of him.

"You're insane" Mike bluntly replied.

Karen said nothing, but let out a series of short cackles, obviously playing along. "Runs in the family!" She turned on her heel and ran inside, a giant smile on her face.

"Whatever." He felt a grin of his own creep up on him, and in seconds was fighting off a big silly smile. Sure his mom was a total basket case, but he loved her all the same. Not to mention, her words had a bit of truth to them. Most who viewed Mike's actions would undoubtedly classify him as a nut-job too. He heard the shower turn on upstairs, she must have started it for him. Mike quickly disrobed, ran up the stairs and hopped in, happy to wash the previous day's grime and troubles from his body.

Helios looked up as Kasiya came out of the bathroom, and sensing now was a good time to crawl out of bed, the Vulpix hopped down and scampered across the floor before hopping up onto the girl's shoulder as she headed downstairs. His six tails twitched excitedly in anticipation of the day's events.

Keegan looked over his shoulder when he heard the sound of someone coming down the stairs, and he grinned up at Kasiya as he quickly scrambled the last batch of eggs in the pan. He had to do a double-take though when he saw Helios perched up on her shoulder, and it wasn't until he heard the telltale sizzle of the eggs starting to burn a bit that he turned away and continued cooking. "Good morning, sunshine!" he called. "You're just in time for breakfast," he added, turning of the stove and removing the frying pan from the element. The table was already set for breakfast and he placed it on a pot holder. He went over towards the back door and slipped on his sandals. "You can let your Pokemon out in the yard; my parents have set food out for them too," he told her before stepping outside to retrieve his parents. During this time he let out his own Pokemon, and they happily found their way to unoccupied bowls of food and dug in. He caught sight of his parents tending Pokemon near the large stable and waved to catch their attention. "Oi, breakfast!" he called once they'd seen him, and they waved back to indicate they would be on their way. He nodded at them and made a move to go back, stopping to watch his Pokemon for a moment before going inside.

Crenu couldn't wait to test out hit new pokemon's abilities, but he needed to get to his next destination first. Ky was probably already on his way to the beach and M.A. had left long before they did so she might even be there as well. But what interested Crenu the most were the countless other trainers there, and that would be the perfect place to try out his new Hitmonlee. For now it was simply time to do basic training, and so Crenu whistled loudly with his fingers to signal the start of the exercise. The other pokemon were to small for this sort of thing, but Hitmonlee was big and strong enough to train this way. Crenu had tied one end of a rope to his bike and the other end to Hitmonlee. At the whistle Hitmonlee started to run along the path back to Ecruteek with Crenu peddling behind. Hitmonlee's legs were known for their power and a fighting pokemon would have to have real endurance if it were going to be of any use to Crenu. This training was perfect to make even travel a work out, but Owen was right. Hitmonlee was still a tad weak, Crenu was able to travel faster then he was now at full peddle. But Hitmonlee just needed to get warmed up, get the blood flowing through his legs again to help him recover. Because Crneu trusted Owen to do a good job of healing the damage, all that was still hurting was his pride. Crenu could see it every time he looked into Hotmonlee's eyes, he was angry. The same anger Crenu felt after being defeated by the rocket grunt, and even mroe so after Whitney's victory over him. He knew what Hitmonlee felt, and they would return to take care of his business in the cave after they trained some more. But for now Crenu peddled hard to keep up as Hitmonlee ran with all his might.

The shower water was piping hot, just how he liked it. He could almost feel the bathroom wallpaper peel off as the steam billowed out from above the curtain. While the rhythmic water beat down on him, Mike enjoyed the first moment of peace and quiet he'd had in weeks. He closed his eyes, resting his wet head against the shower wall in silence, smiling at the eager water drops racing down to the drain. The minutes drifted away as Mike stood there, motionless as the scalding water purged the troubles away.

Nearly a half an hour later, a towel wearing Mike strolled down the stairs and made his way to the kitchen table. There, sitting contently on the table were Mike's clothes. Upon closer inspection no, they weren't. Well, they were, but they were different. Mike's old trademark flame shirt was replaced by a long sleeve jacket. Thankfully, the flame design was still there, and his mom had decided to update his outfit with badass fire adorned collar. "Well damn." Mike said, impressed at his mother's tailoring skills. He shuffled through the rest of his clothes, somewhat disappointed that the jacket was the only new item. As he dressed, he noticed his mom had refueled his gloves. "Thanks." He said to no one in particular.

"You're welcome." Karen said, walking past Mike with a huge amount of assorted parts in her arms. Powalski followed behind, carrying a rather large one. It looked like a motor of sorts.

"Hey Powalski! How are you?" he said with a smile, kneeling down to pat the lizard on the head. The Kecleon cocked his head from side to side as was his usual jittery self, eying his trainer up and down. Mike let out a happy hum, logging another mental note. He needed to start training him soon. His crazy way of battling really messed Nitro up, and that's no easy task. "Are all my other Pokemon doing good mom?" He picked his head up, raising his eyebrows in intrigue.

"Titanium is a kitten as always," replied the inventor with a grin. "He really is a sweetheart. Powalski as you can see is fine. Camerae is enjoying the pool, but I think he misses Shiver." Her eyes wandered around, looking for something, or someone in particular. "That Duskull you got from your friend Dante drifts in and out every once and a while. Thank goodness you don't have to feed ghosts." The two shared a laugh. "However, Xanthos is a bit more complicated."

"Yeah, he's a handful." Mike let out a deep breath through closed teeth. "I hope he hasn't been too bad."

"Oh no, I love him!" You could have knocked Mike over with a feather.

"What?!"

"It's such a thrill!" Karen nearly shouted. "I have to nearly wrestle him every morning when I give him his daily vitamins. He's got some real fight in him!" Her eyes flared up as she clenched her fists. "But yeah, I can tell he's a real pain in the a**!" That last sentence was said with more pride than expected, and Mike was still in near shock from the whole subject. "Makes me feel like I'm your age again." the woman added with one last sharp exhale.

"Well that's...good." Mike could only imagine his scrawny mother running up to a surprised Xanthos and tackling him, vitamin in hand, ready for war. All amusing images aside, he was relieved that his Pokemon were doing good. Part of him hated that you couldn't keep more than six at a time, he missed them every time he sent one home. "But hey, I gotta jet mum. I got a date with Flannery I think. Well, I don't but I do. " He spoken in such a circle he confused himself. "You know how it is with me."

Karen nodded silently, pointing to a breakfast wrap steaming on the end of the kitchen counter beside the door. "Just make sure to visit me before the party tomorrow."

"How did yo-" Oh forget it, she knew everything. For all he knew she was a telepath. His mind flashed over to Nina. He hadn't seen her since that incident with Maodre. I wonder how she's doing. Mike got up, gave his mom a kiss and walked out the door, leaning back in to grab the wrap he forgot.

The boy strolled towards the Gym, eying Keegan's house as he stuffed the breakfast wrap in his mouth. It was delicious.

"Good morning," Kasiya replied, looking around at the spread Keegan had set up. "Wow, did you do this all yourself?" she asked, but more to herself than anyone else. She didn't see Keegan's parents around and she wondered where they'd gone, but as Keegan headed outside she understood, imagining that running a facility like this took a lot of work and dedication. She nodded to Helios, a little amazed the fox had chosen to climb up on her shoulder. Having the Vulpix up there did make her realize just how much she missed Shocker, and her heart ached to see both her and Ariel again. Deciding to forgo shoes, she stepped outside behind Keegan, her eyes opening wide in amazement at the wide variety of Pokemon around her. She saw Keegan's parents off in the distance, feeling a little envious that Keegan had grown up surrounded by so many Pokemon. But then again, she could hardly complain, having seen her own father's Raichu way back before he'd evolved.

She took Helios from her shoulder and placed him on the ground before reaching to her belt and one by one releasing all of her Pokemon. They all looked up at her in confusion but she gestured for them to go find some food. Flash and Seto were first to go off and find a bowl, followed closely by Levi, who chose to take her bowl over to wherever Moeder happened to be. After a moment or two of hesitation both Digger and Casimir went off too, and Kasiya wasn't surprised at all to see that Ada had simply wandered over to the largest bowl she could possibly carry and waddled back over to Kasiya, looking up at her trainer and waiting to go back inside. Kasiya sighed and indicated for the Larvitar to follow her, somehow not surprised that Adamantine wanted to stay by her side. The two went back inside, and Kasiya sat down at the table, looking a little unsure of herself. She didn't want to seem disrespectful or anything like that, so she waited for everyone else to be seated before starting her breakfast.

=-=-=-=-=

By the time Flannery had returned to the gym the next morning, Mike and Nitro were long gone. She sighed and looked around, hands on her hips. Thankfully, battling with Keegan yesterday had left the gym in relatively good condition, as only minor repairs had been needed. She found herself feeling a little nervous about battling with Kasiya, but she didn't know why. The younger girl was no pushover, that's for sure. She sighed, nodding a bit before she released her Pokemon from their Pokeballs to run around and stretch their legs and whatnot before the day's training began. There were the three Pokemon she'd battled with yesterday: Megu, her Slugma; Camerupt; Torkoal, and then there was also her older, more experienced Torkoal as well as Magu, her beloved Magcargo. Last but not least was her Houndoom from last night, who stood proudly by her right side, glad to help oversee the rest of the Pokemon, that is, until Flannery gave him a disapproving glare and he quickly moved to join the others. One by one other trainers soon began to file in, and they too went about their morning routines, preparing for any challenges that may come their way today.

Seeing her pokemon's determination Robin couldn't help be inspired by her pokemon. Grinning she pumped her fist up into the air and cheared him on. "Keep it up Raz! I know you can do it! Lets go for a Tackle attack now!" Giving a little chirp before scuddling forward and ramming his body into the gem in the center of the Staryu causing it to stagger back somewhat. The jewel in the center blinked a few times before fading away as it passed out onto the ground. Letting out a cheer Robin dashed forward and swooped Razputin into a hug and twirled around. "Great job Raz!" She danced around slightly before turning to her opponent and smiling at him. "Thank you very much for the battle. Once again congradulations on your evolution."

The boy just grinned at her for a moment before recalling his Staryu. "Well it was a good battle and we do need to do a bit more training. I hope you have good luck on your journey."

Her grin not fading Robin reached out and gave the other trainer a hug before going back to her travel companion. "Did you see that Ampersand? I won!"

Giving her a small smile Ampersand adjusted the hat on his head for a second before standing up. " You did great little missy. Now lets get going, we don't have all day. Plus we should head to the pokemon center so that you can get your pokemon healed."

Remembering that Razputin needed healing a serious look appeared on Robin's face as she nodded. Holding the clear wing pokemon closer Robin motioned for Luffy to go over to Ampersand. The Aipom scampered over to Ampersand and settled down on his shoulder. Like all the Routes around here this one was short and to the point. It didn't take them very long to reach Saffron.

Hitmonlee's long legs pounded the earth below as he ran picking up speed with Crenu peddling only to keep the bike from pummeling his legs. Holding on tightly he reached for his belt and released Larvitar from his poleball. He materialized on the handlebars and weighed down the bike considerable. Hitmonlee felt the sudden weight like an anchor as he was pulled back and fell. Crenu clutched the breaks and came to a screeching hault. "What's the matter Lee, you can't handle the weight? Backing down from the challenge? I've peddled this bike with this little guy before, you telling me your can't even top me? Get up and pull Hitmonlee, you'll never beat that other pokemon unless you fight through the pain." It seemed a little to cruel, even by Crenu's methods. But He knew Hitmonlee could take it, he knew that he wanted it. He expected no less from himself, and so Hitmonlee would work hard. Hitmonlee punched the ground and stood up, he started pulling the bike again and was jogging again in no time. He would not be broken to easily, this new guy was exactly what he had hoped for. No sugar treatment, cold and hard training was all he wanted right now. Sweat started to pour down Hitmonlee as he pounded onward, as he picked up speed his strides lengthened. His legs started stretching, getting longer with each step, each stride grew larger and they went faster than before. Crenu was caught by surprise, this was a characteristic that he had not known about. It appeared as though Hitmonlee had rubbery limbs that could stretch and contract at will, each long stride was accompanied by a spring like kick that carried them smoothly along the ground. Crenu could hardly peddle fast enough to keep up with the bikes tires and could feel his legs getting numb. Ecruteek had been in the distance, but soon it grew and grew and Crenu whistled loudly again. Hitmonlee started to slow down, gradually his legs shrunk as did his strides untill they came to a stop just inside the town. Crenu climbed off of his bike, only to fall. Larvitar caught him and struggled to set him down gently, Crenu's legs were like linguine after the peddling that hitmonlee forced out of him. Hitmonlee to appeared warn, but the pokemon sat down on his own and started to rub down his legs, loosening up his muscles. Crenu laughed and did the same thing, he started to grin. "This guy...trying to keep your legs good for more training huh? You never stop working, I like that." He was perfect, Everything Crenu wanted in a pokemon. Unquestioned loyalty from Larvitar and unyielding effort from Hitmonlee. Plenty or promise from Poliwag and an Ariados who always did her best to prove herself to and impress him. "Perfect." Crenu lay back to rest his legs, he didn't have the endurance of a fighting pokemon, his body did not recover as fast as his spirit wanted it to. Hitmonlee on the other hand got up and balanced himself on one leg with the other held high over his head. He appeared to be meditating, training him mind while his body recovered.

The sun was now high in the sky, shining bright and proving its place as the main ingredient for another humid Lavaridge day. Mike strolled on the path heading to the Gym peacefully, nearly closing his eyes in tranquility. Few places in Hoenn matched the majesty of Lavaridge's rustic aesthetic. The relativly undisturbed and natural landscape, the friendly people, and the guardian-like Mt. Chimney that loomed above them like an earthy protector; they had it all. "Nothing beats home." Mike said to himself as he continued his walk, taking in a deep breath of fresh air.

The Gym rose up on the horizon. Mike assumed that it would be full when he walked in, seeing as Flannery was always there 9:30 sharp, and her trainers were pretty good at being on time. It was a shame, he was hoping to spend some time alone with her before she started her duties. Guess they'd have to wait. As he approached the door, his thoughts drifted to the night before, to the kiss she had given him while he slept. Mike wondered if she was wearing her usual clothes at the time, or if she was already in pajamas. He smiled at the image of tall, slender Flannery in a short cotton pajama top and pants, descending down like a scarlet angel to grant her love to him. The mental image caused a separate vision: two small Mike's pitching a tent in the deep recesses of his mind. The combination of the mental image and an all too familiar sensation caused the boy to impulsively (and very stupidly) punch himself in the crotch. Mike let out a loud grunt of pain as he buckled over. "Urrgh, the price of being a gentleman!" The pain shot up his spine like a cold chill on steroids but no way was he walking in the Gym all rared up like that. Besides, it sure as hell woke him up. Regaining his composure and letting his lower region heal for just a moment, Mike entered the Gym. He waved as the half dozen or so trainers turned to face him. "Hey guys." They all looked relieved to see it was him, as they were in the middle of their morning routines. It would have been a pain to drop all that for a challenger.

"So, where is the lovely vixen whom I seek?" Mike asked rhetorically, pretending not to see the very noticeable red headed Gym Leader standing tall as she began her morning exercises.

Keegan waited by the door for Kasiya to come back in, shaking his head and chuckling at the sight of Adamantine toting along her food. The Larvitar had simply adored Kasiya right from the day she'd hatched, and the redhead took this opportunity to go back outside, nearly running headlong into his parents in the process. "Aren't you going to have breakfast?" Maggie inquired, looking a little alarmed as Keegan threw a nervous glance over his shoulder to make sure Kasiya wasn't near the door.

"Yes, of course," he said quickly, dreading what he was about to ask. "My friend, she, well, she really wants to raise a Charmander, you see, and I was-"

"You want to give her one of my Charizard's eggs, don't you?" his father responded quickly, folding his arms over his chest. "Didn't we already tell you that you wouldn't be handing out eggs to all your friends like they were nothing?" he asked, his voice loud and intimidating.

Keegan sighed and shook his head, trying not to get frustrated. "No, it's not like that," he said, at first about to say that he didn't have that many friends to begin with, but quickly changed his mind. "She's... this... it's different," he said finally, looking back through the kitchen window at the girl. Any arguments he initially had seemed to leak out of his ears and his shoulders slumped. "I just want to make her happy," he said finally.

Since his back was to his parents, he didn't see Maggie look imploringly at his father, and the two exchange silent words. "Fine, we'll just have to see how worthy she is of one of our prized eggs," Todd said sharply, nearly causing Keegan to jump. "You want to give this girl an egg because you like her, we get that," he said grumpily, although Keegan could detect a hint of mirth in his father's voice. "But we don't just give 'em to anyone."

"Then come with us to the gym," he said quickly. "Kasiya is going to battle with Flannery after breakfast. Then you can see for yourself just how great she is," he finished, finding the words spilling out faster than he intended.

Todd said nothing, simply glanced at his wife then nodded. "Let's get to our breakfast before it gets cold," he said gruffly, pushing past his only son and into the house. Keegan only sighed with relief, looking at his mother as she placed a hand on his shoulder, and then the two went back inside as well.

Kasiya looked nervously towards the kitchen door, wondering when everyone else would join her. In truth she was practically starving, as the prospect of gym battles almost always worked her up and gave her quite an appetite. She watched Ada crunch noisily on her food as usual, almost thinking of what Pokemon food must taste like. Ada, on the other hand, saw Kasiya looking hungrily towards her bowl of food and let out a low growl, giving her a very clear "touch my food and I'll bite you" look.

Kasiya laughed a bit sheepishly, but looked up gratefully as Keegan and his family came back into the kitchen and sat down. She hoped no one could hear her stomach rumbling as breakfast was served, and she smiled at Keegan as she happily piled scrambled eggs and bacon onto her plate. "Thank you so much for breakfast, Keegan," she sad. "I had no idea you could cook." It was difficult not to stuff her face since she was so hungry, but she had the odd feeling that Keegan's parents, particularly his father, were judging her, and she didn't want to give them the wrong impression.

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Flannery smirked and turned on a heel to look at its owner. "Sup, homeboy," she called over to Mike playfully, signaling for all the trainers and Pokemon to continue their warm-up exercises. "Someone came in late last night," she said as she made her way over to him. "Half an hour after I'd left the gym I find you and Nitro living it up like you own the place." It was apparent by her expression that she wasn't angry or annoyed, but actually rather amused. "Thank you for the flowers, by the way," she added, looking over her shoulder at them. "How very thoughtful of you." She wrapped both arms around him and pulled him close to her in order to enjoy a warm, morning kiss.
