The question, although he should have expected it, took him something by suprise, and his lips twitched in both laughter and slight annoyance.
He finally gave in and put down his chopsticks, feeling he had eaten enough anyway, though he wasnt sure it wasnt eniterly to do with the sudden ball knotting in his stomach as Seti eyed him judgingly.

He allowed the laughter to escape, hoping they would not find it rude. He lifted a palm in apology. "forgive me" he asked, his English lilt more noticable in these polite teachings than ever.
"That is, No."
"I have no lover"

It was a strange way to answer, but then he wasnt sure of anything himself. He had had many female compainions in his youth, but he was older now and found thier girlish charms rather annoying.

Again, a question he had hardly concidered himself until now, partly it hit him full in the chest, partly it made him laugh a little, a derisive snort.
Comfort?
He wondered what exactly the other man was reffering to. Phsyicality, mentality, closeness, passion, companionship, love? He'd never encountered the last one, was damned sure he didnt believe in it- just fairy story termanology.

"sometimes"

it was an honest enough answer, to whatever Seti was asking "but then, I'm used to travelling alone" he went on, smoothing his now dry hair back into place, thinking it was probably impolite to loose it from its tail at the table, and in a strangers house. After all, he had no idea what the customs of these people were. Didnt really care to learn.

Kirus looked out into the bleak grey of the forign country, sighing as he did so, once again scraping back errant hairs, a habit of his. "Im sorry to inconvinience you both" he began "If I had known it was going to rain, I would have stayed on the boat till it passed" it was a lie of course, he hated sea travel, and even at port in a storm was hated.
"are there any inns close by that I could stay at...they dont neccicarily have to speak English, Im very greatful you both do, perhaps you could just point me in the direction..."
He was beginning to feel like he was intruding, the silence of both his companions was a little unnerving.

Kirus was quite taken aback by the quiet generosity of Seti. A man who was obviously suspicious of him and his business was willing to give up his own bed to him. Perhaps the customs here were indeed of a better sort of nature than Kirus would have thought of giving them credit for.

"I thank-you kindly Sir, I do" he nodded, standing in that moment "but really I wouldnt take a bed from a stranger"

It was a blatent lie of course, he would do so, and had done before now, but usually by force. That made things seem safer somehow.

Kirus' eyes fell shut, and he brought his hands to pinch at his brow, before smiling in Seti's direction. It was probably pretty obvious he didnt like being corrected, or made to look the fool.
"again I thank you kindly, but really I could impose" he said, in measured tones, and then after a moment, and licking his lips "this is my first trip to your country friend" He allowed himself to make eye contact with Seti, steelyness hidden in green pretense warmth. There was something increadibly hateable in that look, it said yes, I am from the greatest empire in the world, yes I'm better than you are, and no, I have no desire to stay in anything that isnt a good English four-poster.

Kirus own smile was stretched like tape across his features, almost to breaking point, and his tone was that he might put on for some beautiful maiden's father or mother. Once upon a time.

"you are too kind"

he spoke softly into a silence that seemed almost deadly. He had no real desire to venture back out into that rain, but then, he thought it was was probably just as much of a risk to him staying here.

"really, I hope you we will meet again soon, I could use your services in translation"

he drawled thinnly, knowing he really did need the boy or his mother.

He turned to Byoux and bowed his head, his hand on his breast, "thank you my dear, for the lovely meal and pleasureable company"

before reaching for his coat.

Kirus finished pulling on his coat, the material still damp through, he rasied his hands to pull out the tail of his hair from its grasp, before buttoning the front and walking to the door, he stepped sideways past Seti, who was holding open the door for him to pass. There was somthing very metaphorical about that threshhold he was sure, east holding it open reluctantly for the west.

He pulled his gloves from his poket, but turned back to Seti, extending a hand in his direction whilst it was ungloved. It was a generous gesture for the man, not that they'd know that. In that moment, he felt he owed them something before setting out into the raging storm. He was going to need all the help he could get whilst here. He was a good negotiater, yes, a smooth talker, yes, but none of that was helpful if he couldnt speak the language.
