I think that god made the chicken, and then the chicken hatched the egg because if the egg came first, then it would die because a chicken wouldn't be sitting on it keeping it warm.

The egg had to come before the chicken because Chickens ( according to science ) were closly related to the t-rex. So during evolution it evolved to the chicken somehow. But the first chicken like the ones we know had to come from an egg so the egg came first.

marshjazz I wasn't saying that they should change their mind just because it makes sense to me. Nor was I saying that evolution is immediately correct. But the fact of the matter is that they offered up an accurate explaintion. That eventually, in time, science will explain all things. Well, most christians beleive god created science. But if you think about it, there will always be questions. Why does the egg only allow in one specific sperm out of a million other choices? Eggs don't talk or have brains and they're microscopic. It's possible we'll find out, it's possible we won't. We don't know the future, we can't go into the past. Maybe someday, but only a maybe. Now, back to the question-I think chicken. My explanation is god, but of course there's non-christians out there, so I'll say we'll never truly know. We never will. Maybe when we die, maybe not. The future is just a bunch of maybes.

darkestgem13 i agree with FF Moogle if theres no chicken the egg will die then I could reply in turn "without the egg there is no chicken" so... you can look at this from a logical viewpoint, a creationist viewpoint, or a "I dont care so I won't actualy put any thought into my arguments" view point Think for a second. (hint: evolution) organisms evolve. the chicken we know today is not the same as it was millions of years ago. back then, it couldn't even be classified as a chicken. through evolution, that ancestral species developed the traits of a chicken, and at one point, one member of that animal line (not quite yet a chicken, but very similar) laid an egg. This egg held chicken mentioned in the question. Also I would like to point out that this question is completely irrelevant seeing how there is no set of specific dna that defines "chicken" all chickens have varying sets and are evolving to this day. In the future, the chicken will not look like it does now. as there is no definite "chicken" there can be no definite reason to even contemplate this blatantly pointless question.

Charleen93 a circle never ends. mrgreen ( from the harry poter and the deathly hallows) also, that is the answer to phoenix and flame, a completely different question, seeing as the phoenix remains the same throughout eternity. the phoenix may die in the flame but it is in effect the same phoenix that is reborn from it. hence, that argument is completely irrelevant

The Chicken came first if the egg came first then it would not be able to survive. The egg needs a parent which is the chicken.

it is believed that all birds (including chickens) evolved from dinosaurs which were reptiles, and reptiles lay eggs, therefore, the first real chicken like the ones we see today would have come from an egg lain by an extremely bird-like reptile mix. So. The egg must have come first. xp

Ooooooooo I've had this arguement with my sister for years!I was always saying the egg came first (I had the theory of the dinosaurs evolved to chicken..)

technically the egg came first for 2 reasons R1: the fact that the animal the egg belong to is never specified in this question R2: in the evolution of the chicken none of it's predecessors where in fact chickens. starting with the dinosaur (T-rex as often believed (I'll call it dino 1)) laid an egg and the thing that hatched was a slightliy mutated form of dinosaur. eventually after millions of years the far off descendants of dino 1 (very different dinos from the first) hatched something that was different enough to call a bird. then this happened with the bird until one of these birds ( that was almost but not quite totally unlike chicken) hatched a bird that was close enough to call a chicken.
Summation: in short it is a chicken egg because that is what comes out of the egg , Not what laid the egg in the first place.

Did you ever think that chickens are just small trianousars with feathers and a hard mouth? And lost its teeth from a fight or something?
In my opinion the egg came first becouse you eat them frist. For breackfast you eat an egg or two. Then later durring didder you eat the chicken. See? Eggs have allways been first! I have a pet egg. It's name is John.. It's so emo. And its about 2 weeks old. ^^;
