((WHEEE. POSTSSSS!!!! Then I go to work... oooh yeeeah, man.))
Lok titled his head a little at her response and then sneered into the distance. "That seems to be on everyone's mind these days." He growled, eyes flashing at her sad smile. "Everyone wants out, eh?" He had no snide remark to spare, no cruel or harsh remark. Somehow, they were both the same. He gave her a gruff smile that was more a grimance than anyting; an expression of bitter understanding.
At the offering of water the wolf took the water skin into his hands. He gave a shrug of thanks and gulped greedily, only pausing when she asked him a question. He tugged the water skin from his mouth panting in the heat. His golden eyes were fixed on her face.
"Same as you." He replied, handing back over her supply of water and wiping at his chapped mouth. "I'm getting out." He glanced back over his shoulder. "I had been with others... but wolves don't keep good company." He finished lowly. "They want to change things... what could a wolf change?" He snorted and shook his head.
"What's it matter? I don't care where I'm heading." His snarl was back, his eyes hard and angry. "I am what I am, right? You are what you are. That's it, right? We don't deserve happy endings."
((hahahah, he's so sad... WHEEE! *runs around to get ready for work*))

((sorry about not posting last night, I was out shopping then I ended up spending most of the night teaching someone how to roller blade properly sweatdrop ))
Ryuu's sad smile disappeared, replaced with a look of stone meant to hide deeper feelings. "I'd rather try and fail than sit around accepting everything that is done to me. Plus, we already changed something, we left," she answered flatly. Now having her water-skin back, she tucked it away under her cloak.
"You should go back to them you know. Though you don't keep very good company, having none at all is going to start to wear on you. Even in your story you had companions, whether they had been on your side or not. Plus, you're going to need their help if you believe so strongly that you can change nothing, maybe they can for you," she didn't think it was a very good... Pep talk per say, but it was all she had.
She herself didn't have much hope to change anything, that didn't mean she was going to give up, no. But, it was hard to convince someone else with strong words when she felt that way as well. After a moment, she stood, shaking the sand out of her cloak that had managed to weasel its way inside.
"So where are you heading now?" she questioned.

((GAHH. I had half a post done up, but had to leave, and then my dad logged me off and I lost it! D: Blarg. Raina, don't feel bad about going one night without posting, I should have posted like three days ago or summat.))
Amleth squirmed in place as the other two absorbed his criticism, and, unbelievably, accepted it. He nearly wanted to choke as they took in his words and returned them with kindness. It was almost eerie, how kind these people were. He'd never quite experienced anything like it. He gave a loud snuffle through a full nose of snot.
He bit his lip as Sally offered the idea of trying to like himself instead of his putting-himself-down method. "I dunno, I'm not very... When I try to, it just doesn't..." He scuffed a foot on the ground. "It's hard." He'd only ever found evidence proving that he was a useless, unworthy person. It was awfully hard to ignore all that, after a lifetime of being sure it was true. Honestly, it seemed strange that these two weren't aware of it yet; maybe they simply hadn't seen enough of him to treat him properly. They'd probably come around soon.
Amleth was broken out of this line of thought as the Wolf burst into a rant of his own, mostly directed towards Sally, and her apparent friendship with the Pigman. The fat man only managed to gawk as Lok snarled at them and forcefully stomped off. By the time Amleth realized the Wolf was actually gone, he was fairly distant on the dunes, and the Pigman managed a wavery smile. Everything about that creature had set Amleth on edge--after all, they'd had a lousy history of interactions in the past--and something inside him was set at ease to see Lok go.
He turned to Sally, still grinning a bit, before he saw the sadness etched in her own face. His smile dropped. She had liked the Wolf? He'd sort of seen some sort of strange camaraderie between the two, but it mostly seemed to be composed of teasing or being mean to one another. Amleth honestly couldn't understand why she wanted to be near a Wolf, but... that was probably just him being selfish. Further proof that he was a terrible person.
Amleth looked out over the dunes where Lok had vanished, then back to Sally, then over the desert again. He didn't like the Wolf, but he did like Sally, so he had to do something...
"Um," he mumbled, "It's weird how, y'know, wolves are really pack animals, yaknow, and um, um, it's always strange that, uh, whenever you meet a wolf, they're always, uh, the type that likes to hang out by themselves, um, but most wolves aren't that way, really, uh. A-and, uh, maybe all these 'Lone Wolf' t-types are just f-faking, 'cause the stories g-go that way, but they really, um, their instincts, uh, actually want them to stay in a group, s-so, uh..." He gulped. "Maybehe'llcomebackbecausehewantsto." Oh, how deeply Amleth did not want that to be true... but if it made Sally feel better, it might be worth it.
The others climbed up of the horse. The Pigman squirmed. The crown of his head was just about level with the creature's back. "Er," he managed, and tried to squirm on top. "Uh. I'll, uh. I can walk." He sniffled again. "L-let's go."
((WOO CRAP.))

Sally watched Amleth curiously. He was trying to make her feel a bit better. She liked this man a lot. Even when he didn't appreciate himself, he still managed to want to help others. She smiled sadly at him and nodded, chuckling at his mention of wolves being pack animals.
"I could be the Alpha Male...though I'm not a male." She said jokingly, hiding the pain that clutched her gut. She had left the woods because Lok had come...didn't he realize that? Even more that got her was that he said he didn't like her or even wanted her around and yet when she said Amleth was her best friend he appeared jealous. She furrowed her brows in confusion. Men were so confusing...especially grumpy ones. More importantly she was confused on why his leaving hurt her so much and why she felt so...alone without him there to snap at her and call her names. Why did she want him to attempt to hurt her? Why did she put up with him when he couldn't even handle a bit of yelling himself? It made her angry. He was so selfish! Even so...
"I hope you're right buddy." She said softly and nodded. "Maybe...maybe he actually cares about me enough to come back. But what if he really meant what he said? I don't know...what I'd do..." she muttered the last part before grinning broadly at the worried man and leaned over, holding out her hands for him.
"Here I'll help you. You can sit between me and Dash! I don't want you to have the butt." She nodded urgently. "If you really don't want to...I'll walk with you! We can walk together so you don't have to be alone. Being alone sucks badly."

((Haha I was waitin' on Teufel... And theeeen, I'm here now. And she had posted, woo woooooo))
Dash frowned. He'd hoped to keep the Wolf there... But the small, dark dot against the sandy dunes proved he'd been wrong. Lok was leaving, and he wasn't sure if they'd see each other again... And amid the conversation between Sally and Amleth... He found he too was a bit saddened by Lok's leaving.
After all, they couldn't make their story if the cast was incomplete.
Sighing, he tugged at the reigns in his hands, and jumped when Red hopped onto Desdamona just behind him. The horse wickered and shifted slightly, giving a bit of a snort. "She doesn't like other riders..." He trailed off, paling a bit at the mention of Amleth riding too. Not that his steed couldn't carry the weight, but... the weight... He was a bit pudgy after all.
"Um, how about we all walk for a while?" Dash said quickly, sliding from his saddle, groaning inwardly. He hated walking. Buuuuut, to save his horse three riders, he opted for it. Desdamona looked quite happy about it at least.
"At least someone's happy..."
"Yeah, I think he'll come back..." Dash said lightly, leading the way toward the town of which he'd spoken. "If nothing else, he's in countless stories... We SHOULD run into him sooner or later, right?" It was a wonder they all missed him... After all, all they did was fight... Or try to eat each other...
And so they trekked through most of the day, stopping only to sip water from the various waterskins Dash was carrying, or to wait out a potential sandstorm.
Hours later, just at sunset, Dash spotted the town they'd been traveling to. It was a small little place, full of weary looking villagers, and an unusually large beanstalk growing out of the back garden of one on the other edge of the town. A thick layer of clouds covered the area, only adding to the dreary mood.
"Well, we're here. There's an inn just a ways inside... And we can start out again tomorrow..." He frowned. He wasn't sure which story they'd just entered... But some of the villagers seemed a bit... twitchy.

Sally watched Dash curiously, was he sad the wolf was gone too? She knew Amleth wasn't and she understood. She knew she should feel the way he did, happy and relieved they wouldn't stand a chance of being his dinner. She shrugged it off and then jumped off the horse as Dash did.
"Fine with me. It'll be nice, all of us best buds walking together! Too bad it isn't a nice lake or something. Or sunset." She muttered and then followed him when he began their trek towards where he knew the town was.
As they walked she'd often check to make sure Amleth wasn't dead. He did have shorter legs then the both of them...and was more heavy set. She knew he would be more prone to heat stroke or exhaustion then his two comrades.
When they finally arrived to the town she made an upset face at the gloomy emotions that were prowling around their group and even the town. It seemed to make their lack of a certain someone ever more obvious. As they moved towards the inn her stomach growled loudly and she groaned with it to the two men with her.
"Guyyyyssss before we sleep and all...I REALLY NEED TO EAT!" She raised her hands in exaggeration and dropped her jaw, tongue sticking out like a hungry dog. "I mean I haven't eaten since this morning! I'm STARVING!" Before the group could protest she looked around to see a quaint little restaurant and made for it. "I can smell all the juicy chicken and pork. I'm dieing for some meat...the only kind I've had all my life was duck and deer...and hardly even that." She said to whoever cared to listen. She put a hand over her flat stomach, patting it.
"There there, you'll be filled up soon." She had no money on her, but Dash was sure to pay, after all he was a prince, and princes paid for a lady's dinner, right? Well even if he didn't she was going to eat something before she went to bed with an empty stomach. Someone would pay if that were to happen.
((Haha wheee she has a man stomach! It tells her what to do! Or something...I dunno. >>; But yeah...they HAVEN'T eaten since that morning so I figured all of them would be hungry...especially our dear pig fellow))

((OH EM GEE, POST FOR LOK! WO! Go Aka GOO!...
,.. and dood, I totally got a new computer... So I am super excited... OH YEAH!!!))
Lok's mouth twisted into a half hearted snarl and he looked away. His pawlike hands clenched themselves into fists and unclenched.
"Why would they do ANYTHING for me?" He snapped when she was done, his hackles rising as his voice grew in volume. His smouldering eyes were back on her. "And so what if I left..." He trailed off, frowning. "You can leave a place and still be the exact same person you've always been!" He got to his feet. "And who says I WANT to change? Maybe I've always liked being this way! Maybe it's just everyone else that has the problem!"
Lok's hackles went down as he turned on a heel to face the other way. "Aren't I doing what I'm supposed to?" He wanted to know. "Aren't you?"
The wolf was very quiet for a long spread of time. Though, at last he said, as the desert was slowly growing dark:
"I'm heading nowhere."
And as he said these words, he realized just how true they were. He turned, looking to the drgon again.
"Come with me." He said. "If they won't help me, at least they'll do something for you."

((Yay for new computers. They move so much faster and they are all shiny xd ))
Ryuu stayed motionless and silent as she listened to the words of the wolf, he really felt that his destiny couldn't change. "I don't know why they'd do anything for you, but if they were having you come with them, they must have thought you could help or they could help you. Wolf, if you like being the way you were, you wouldn't have left. Leaving gives you a chance to change, the opportunity to change the way things are," she spoke slowly and quietly.
The rays of the sun slowly began to disappear, and as they did the night began to cool and quickly. Goosebumps rose on Ryuu's arms as she stood there, looking at the Wolf that couldn't seem to make up his mind. "We were doing what we were supposed to do... But new stories are getting created every day, why can't we create one where we aren't the bad guys anymore? I know it's a long shot, but I want to try." As she spoke she looked toward the ground, golden green eyes focused intently on the white sand.
"If you say they won't help you, why would they help a dragon?" She paused, looking back up at him, perhaps if he went back even with just the idea of getting her help... "Alright, we'll give that a try. But first, I don't feel right calling you Wolf, can I have your name?"
((Yeah I know, it isn't the best, but I have a cat laying beside me kneeding at my hand as I'm typing. He won't let go >.<))

Amleth tried his hardest to keep on a weak smile as the others ascertained that the Wolf would return. Really, the very idea of being near the creature that so often tormented him made him want to break into shudders, but for Sally's sake, now, he tried his hardest to suppress the tremors.
He sputtered a bit as Dash muttered that Desdamona didn't like other riders, and gave the Pigman a doubtful look. Amleth reddened and quickly backed from the horse. "S-sorry, I d-didn't mean to bother her and I'm r-really fine with walking it's okay and I hope you don't m-mind too much I'm s-sort of slow but I d-don't want to trouble her or you or anything um--"
But by the time he'd sputtered this out, they'd opted to all walk. Amleth coughed and snuffled. "Y-yeah, walking. Good stuff. Um yeah." Dash looked none too pleased about the decision, and Amleth couldn't help but wonder if they could have managed riding if not for him, and his excess weight. "Sorry," he mumbled.
The trek through the desert was a miserable experience for the fat fellow; he quickly removed his jacket, but the blazing sun spared him no mercy from the heat. His mouth quickly grew dry, his tongue feeling as though it was swelling up, and he ended up desperately panting for air. He'd no doubt be sunburned as all hell by the end of the day. His short legs ached and he sweat buckets, but he never thought to complain; Really, he spent large portions of his life slaving away in the sun, building that godawful house. Hard work he was more or less used to. This was, admittedly, a bit more intense than before, but he still managed to suck it up on some level.
Dash shared sips of water, and Sally made sure that Amleth could keep up with the other two... they were so strangely kind, for how much he was dragging them down...
Amleth nearly cried in relief as the farming town came in sight over the dunes. As they finally trotted in, the fat man allowed himself a small wheeze, hoping the other two wouldn't here. He almost wanted to kiss Sally as she mentioned food; He would get over his exhaustion quickly enough, but his hunger felt like something was clawing at his guts. Though, he couldn't help but cringe a bit at Sally's mention of 'pork.'
"Eheh," he panted. "I, uh, yeah. Food sounds... really great." What he wouldn't give for some hard-boiled eggs... or some hard-boiled anything... or just anything edible. Ohhh, he was hungry... He had hardly any cash of his own, but he wasn't picky. "Y-you guys can go to a restaurant, if you want," he said simply. "I can manage on my own." He was entirely content with picking of leftovers or scraps that any villager might have left about.
((He so cute. ^^; Honestly, you guys don't need to bully him into eating with y'all. He'll get all freaked out about not paying.))

((Hahaha, this WHOOLE time I was wondering why no one had posted... and then I realized.... it was mmmyyyy turn.
Haw haw. I'm SUPAH SMARTS. READY GO! *types*))
Lok looked back at the dragon, golden eyes glinting eerily in the dark as in the way only wolf eyes could. "I am always the evil in stories. There IS no other way." He said seriously into the dark. "What would be left otherwise? There is no good without me." He curled his lip back, his canines bright in the semi-darkness. "No princes, no innocents, young heroes or maidens, and then no morals. I will ALWAYS remain."
"There is hope for you, dragon." He snorted and looked away. "But not for me. I won't waste anyone's time." Crouching low into the sand he lost form again, a great imposing dark shadow of a monster in the dark. His eyes stood out in his long face. In the dark, he looked his part more than ever. He was ugly and hateful, a vile creature to be feared and hated.
"Lok." He replied. "But you won't need to know it. As soon as I take you to them, you won't have to remember it." He tossed his head, beckoning her to follow. "Follow me, dragon." He growled and tore off through the sand, back the way he came only knowing where they were because of the tug on his senses to find her, the helpless pig, and the hero he so loathed.
((hahahaha, he's so EMO. But so right... we'll hafta see what happens with him o.O))

((OMG! I AM POSTING! And guess what? I AM POSTING USING MY NEW COMPUTER HOOOOLY CRAP! AMAZERING!))
Yeah, the walk had been a bit of a bother (and Desdamona wasn't too happy either - like a good horse, she enjoyed when she was able to provide her owner faster mobility) and the desert wasn't exactly the most pleasant place to walk through all day... But all in all, Dash supposed, it wasn't awful.
Red seemed eager to get moving, and she easily kept up... Amleth, much to Dash's surprise, didn't complain at all, despite the fact he knew the round man was having the worst time of all of them. Maybe, just maybe, these comrades would be a good group... A group? It was an interesting concept... Dash had always worked alone - the lone hero. The thought that he could change that made him give a small, genuine smile.
Upon entering the town, Red took charge, making a bee-line for the small restaraunt located just within. How she knew what chicken smelled like, he had no clue (there were times on their trip that he was quite sure he figured out what cooked pork smelled like - Amleth seemed to be roasting the whole way), but he let it slide. Food did sound good, and as was his role, he always had far more gold than was necessary.
In fact, it was surprising that Amleth didn't expect him to pay. The man offered to leave them to eat where they were going to. "The problem with this, I believe, is that this is the only place to eat." he threw his gloved thumb over his shoulder at the place Red had already been drawn to. "So come on... Let's all get a bite to eat, then arrange somewhere to sleep." Desdamona gave an agreeable snort to the idea, already eyeing their small stables.
After a quick stop to make sure his horse was taken care of, Dash led the small group to the restaraunt, which turned out to be a small, cozy tavern. The majority of its customers seemed rather sullen and jumpy, but were otherwise fairly accomodating people.
"Alright you two... Order what you will..." Dash mumbled, trying to avoid the gazes of four or five women who looked ready to leap on him the moment he acknowledged their presence. He was honestly surprised that he hadn't been given a fanfare and showered with more hospitality. Perhaps their story (which he couldn't quite place yet) didn't have a difinitive hero... Or it was one of the rare ones he hadn't been called into.
Regardless, he ordered each of them food, which was prepared surprisingly well. They soon were full (Red having eaten probably the most out of the three of them - something that was somehow rather disgusting) and headed off to the inn for the night. Dash wasn't sure what they'd do from there... but he'd always left such things up to fate, or whatever it was. Stepping into the idea that they were going to do something for themselves was indeed a big thing... Something that was admittedly quite frightening - even for a fearless prince.
Settling lightly into one of the four beds in the large room they'd rented, he removed his cape and gloves, setting his sword by the bedside. Dash took a deep breath and looked to the others, a slightly bemused expression on his face. "Well, we've started... That's the hardest part."
((haha tah dah? And I dunno, Lok could lead his dragon buddy into the inn or something? IT BE FREE FOR ANYONE TO DO THINGS! And emphasis on ANYONE... I don't want to ahve to run thissss, nor does Aka... Feel free to PLOT OMG!))

It wasn't hard to please Little Red's stomach. In fact the waitress found it extremely easy...if but a bit busy. Sally was petite, sure, small waist, slender legs and a flat stomach, but she sure could eat. Maybe it was the simple fact she had the same meal every single day of her eternal life that made her liable to eat anything besides Tea and Crumpets. Meat. She ate a lot of meat that evening. Even when she ordered pork she downed it fast and still had room for seconds on the turkey.
The people nearby all watched her with some worried and strange looks, wondering where all that food went. They expected a little lady like herself to be dainty and fine. Instead she seemed more rough and boisterous than the two men accompanying her...but that's not saying anything considering the two men were a prince and nervous pig.
When she was finally satisfied, they left. Sally thanked the cooks before she did and told them she'd come back. They looked terrified at the prospect but only told her they'd be happy to have her again. She only grinned and giggled before rushing after the other two.
As they settled down into the room she fell down on a bed and let out a loud, long sigh. She took her cloak off and hung it on a bed post after slipping off her socks and sandals. Pushing herself into a sitting position she shrugged to Dash before realizing he'd had four bed. She counted her friends...three including her. Maybe he thought someone else would be joining them again. Lately she was doubting her optimism at having her 'trusting' companion...trusting...what a side-splitter. She rolled her eyes in an upset tone.
Why was she supposed to feel guilty? It was his fault. Who cares if he isn't used to people yelling at him? Everyone else was used to him yelling at them. She only gave him a taste of his own medicine. Even so...she missed him terribly. She didn't have anyone to laugh at or tease. If she teased Amleth he'd probably cry and if she laughed at Dash he'd probably take it with extreme offense. Lok...if that was his real name...got angry when she teased him, sure, but she knew somehow he understood that she was only trying to get him to get angry. She couldn't have been the only one to feel that bond between them, like a kid and their best friend. Bffl. Best friends for life. Right?
"Hardest? I hope not...I want something exciting. I want to chop an ogres head off or boil a with in her own stew. Ya know? I want to kick some princess in her a** and get dirt on her cheeks. I heard they hate dirt. How someone can hate dirt is beyond me. I like getting down and dirty. You know I planted nearly every tree in my forest? It's true, when I started the story there were only around ten...I figured if I planted more it'd protect me more. I guess I just have a green thumb." She wiggled her thumb and smirked triumphantly before kicking her feet out infront of her and putting her hands behind her head.
"So tell me Dash...if you hate all the women you save...do you like ugly women instead?" She raised a brow and then closed her eyes, taking in a large breath. "None of my business though I guess. Who cares. What are we doing tomorrow? I want to go check out what's making everyone so skittish. They seem pretty darn suspicious about nearly everything. Did you see the way they watched us? Not just because I ate almost everything...but they were whispering things about us too. I heard them. I wonder if they think we're bad guys." Bad guys...were there really such things? No one was purely bad. She was sure of this. "Then again it might be fun to be a bad guy for once ya know? Haven't you two ever wanted to make someone so scared they crapped themselves? It'd be fun."
((Haha she talks too much.))

Amleth started to protest as Dash ushered him to the nearby restaurant. "N-no, really, I'm fine, I can get my own food, that's what I usually do, you really don't have to... I don't have much money, I don't want to bother... um... er..." His stomach gave a low gurgle. He glanced about the tavern and sheepishly sat down by Sally. "Umm. Okay, if you're, uh, really sure, I, uh, thank you... I'll pay you back, um, when I can, or something... thanks... a lot..."
The pig was really quite overcome with gratitude from the prince's generosity. He'd never been treated to anything before, and it was a truly pleasant feeling. He kept shooting Dash nervous glances throughout the meal, as though to be sure that he wouldn't revoke his offer.
Amleth was honestly quite amused by Sally's voracious appetite. In all honesty, he ate nearly as much as she, give or take a few plates of meat. Though, unlike his new friend, he tried to keep his table manners in check. He half expected someone he knew--or, really, anyone he didn't know--to march up and scold him for eating so much, for not paying, for really anything. In the end, he figured that Sally's impressive appetite and behavior was what really distracted everyone from his own meal.
By the time they left, he was quite sated (in his entire life, Amleth had never experienced the notion of being 'full', regardless of how much he'd eaten). He was still murmuring thank yous to Dash as they made their way back to the inn, smiling in an awkward, bashful way.
He seated himself down on the bed, bouncing lightly; it wasn't particularly soft, and the fabric was a bit scratchy. The pig quite liked it; it had a familiar feel about it, somehow. He shortly realized the mattress was filled with straw. He allowed himself a rueful smile.
Dash piped up as Amleth kicked off his shoes to rub his thoroughly calloused feet, which had an odd, blackened look about them. "Is it the hardest?" he murmured thoughtfully. "Really, it was, uh... sort of... sort of easy, I thought... I mean, the desert, yeah, and that was no good, but... Didn't you sort of expect someone to try and stop us, or something? I mean... if it were as easy as just walking away, wouldn't more characters just do that?" Honestly, the ease of the experience thus far had sort of been bothering him. If he'd known it would have been this simple, he would have... well, he might have done it a long time ago.
He started to cringe at the thought of fighting ogres, but was sidetracked at the idea of boiling witches. Ooh, he wanted some stew now. "I did that once," he mused, "sort of." He thought of Lok and gave a nervous chuckle. "B-but, uh!" He made a face. "I, uh, wouldn't want to... scare someone, or anything." He frowned and leaned back against the wall. "Let's not be bad guys."
"A green thumb? Oh!" He thought back to their entrance into town. "Then, then you'd know... that big, crazy plant in town... have you ever seen something like that before? I didn't think anything could really grow up to the clouds, ever! You think it's part of a story?"
((I have a vague idea as far as plot goes... but I'm not sure how to bring it up.))
