Ughh. Last weekend, I found a little mock-debate in which a person defended her reasons for liking Zutara and gave reasons for why Maiko/Kataang wouldn't work. She clearly stated that she wasn't being incredibly serious and that it was just a little thing she'd thrown together, yet everyone kept going at her for little things they didn't like in it. One person even used the term 'a**-vision' Dx Teh_Sheba And if Zutara does come out as the final pairing, for the love of Buddha, people don't gloat about it. Pride and celebration is one thing, but don't gloat. The only thing we need at the end of the show is for the Kataangers to have another reason to hate us, or another reason for Spootay to complain about us. Don't prove her right!

I mean the artist is nice, she's at least giving a long explanation and trying not to offend people. However, the fact that she's friends with Spootay sort of makes it seem like she's saying sorry out in the open, but mocking us terribly behind our backs.
Why can't they ever be nice? They don't see us disturbing their ships! Now I truly hope for Zutara, because it would be nice to see them down on their knees, apologizing for making fun of our fandom.
What also pisses me off are the Zutarians who often suck up to "great" rival shipping artists, admitting all this crap about Zutarians that isn't even true.

Augh, I saw that type of thing coming, really, I did. Everytime something in the show seemingly hits us Zutarians when we're down, there's a few artists on DA who think they're so witty and cool who get on and post this kind of crap. After the kiss in DoBS, and now after what happened in WAT...
Thing about that one is, NONE of us are saying that Zuko is PLOTTING to fall in love with Katara!! It's not some stupid elaborate plan he has, We even know it won't work. It'd only make Aang HATE Zuko if he willingly and openly did that. It wouldn't even be a meaningful relationship with Katara, which, even if they choose to ignore this fact, is what we want for Katara and Zuko. This insult to Zutara IS NOT EVEN FOUNDED.

They just really, refuse to hear our side of the story, really. And I agree. Her crediting Spootay for inspiration is more than enough to get me groaning at their views of us. And honestly, I'm just waiting for Spootay herself to submit some 'In your face, Zutara is SO dead lol' comic that will get things started up again. Everytime she submits some anti-Zutara crap, it starts up another wave of the shipping war.
It has phases... Spootay's comic; other Kataangers jumping on the insult bandwagon; Zutarian defense/retaliation; peace promoting pieces; calm...Repeat at next mind-blowing ship development.

They keep saying they're tired of Zutara and us Zutarians and our 'stubbornness'...Well, no one is force-feeding it to them! and that if Zutara happens in the show...they will be utterly infuriated, screw if it is really developed and has a good lead-in or even, god-forbid, a deeper purpose like Greenifyme's theory on it giving Aang the final boost he needs to LET KATARA GO and unlock the Avatar State... Well, in that case, the show is just freakin' wasted on them.
And you know what? If we've survived and kept our enthusiasm for 2 and a half seasons on PURE fanon, Why, if things don't end up the way THEY want at the end, can't THEY accept it and have their own fanon, maybe write some fanfiction where Katara ends up with Aang? or fanart?
No, that probably wouldn't happen.
They'll probably just write some angry, rude comics on how pissed off they are and how stupid Mike and Bryan would be for ending it that way. Since it's becoming obvious(especially with what this artist said about 'venting her shipping anger' by making such things...) that they can't deal with shipping constructively...
And what you said about Zutarians sucking up? It's so true. I can't tell you how many times I'm disheartened when I'm scrolling through comments and there are Zutarians commenting with just a little bit of Zutarian pride, getting a response back from the Kataanger trying to shoot them down...and the Zutarian submitting and going back on everything, saying it probably won't happen...Then the Kataanger responding, in true dominating form, with,
"Finally, someone understands."
And she and Spootay BOTH may give disclaimers, and apologies and constantly saying that they're not trying to offend, but honestly, how much do they expect us to believe them? they just do that to cover themselves. I've SEEN Spootay, after her saying that she doesn't hate Zutarians, do a complete one-eighty and say something incredibly and outright insulting. I'm not going to repeat it, but I did see one instance that made me really have to grit my teeth not to respond to it.
I'm so sorry to rant. But I got started and this just flew out. If that's all they care about, then really, Avatar, one of the greatest and well thought out shows I have seen in my life, is wasted on them.

you know, nothing makes you realise how stupid this whole shipping war is, than watching Avatar with your family. Preferably with siblings who are older than you.
Why? because if you start at the very beginning again, and work your way towards the current episodes, you'll realise just how shameful this shipping discussions and wars are. You can see how the writers intended it to be, you can see that there is no overly big romance, there is more plot than romantic hints.
Though this will make my previous statement a bit unstable, I must say that Aang's "obvious feelings" for Katara aren't all that frequent, twice or thrice in the first season, there were a few signs of Aang liking Katara more than as just a friend. (it seemed like a crush)
In season two (which I still have to re-watch) there was one hint so far (I've watched up to "the deserter"). In season three it's getting a bit more obvios (day of black sun, nightmares & Daydreamd) but in general it has been pointing into the that direction. Yes, it's mostly from Aang's point of view. We still don't knnow of katara's feelings. A death threat is not a love declaration. A death threat is not a sign of Katara's mutual love for Aang.
I do not agree with the Zutarians who say: OMGWTFBBQLOLOL11!!1!! ZUTARA IS GUNNA HAPPN!
no, IF it should happen, then it will be most likely a small smile of Katara to Zuko in the very last scenes, or a small gesture, like she takes his hand, she offers to heal his scar, etc. NOTHING FULLBLOWN OUT IN THE OPEN. that, is my impression, regarding the storytelling so far.
These people who have this need to make fun of other people, by hurting them, are the lowest filth that walks the earth, in my opinion. Even if they apologise for it, even if they say they KNOW that it's hurtful, it is not polite. It's disrespectful, and shouldn't be uploaded to an open Gallery like DA where everybody and their mother will either rip it apart or make it something bigger than it is. Common sense is seriously dying out.

I was just watching crossroads of destiny again (you know why...) and I noticed something that after researching I have found that many other people have had the same thought. I don't know if you have seen this but when Katara holds Aang's semi-dead body it looks frighteningly like Michel Angelo's sculpture of the virgin Mary holding Jesus's dead body. If thats not a maternal love reference I don't know what is... pics...

I found the exact same thing when I was rooting through a renaissance art book in Figure drawing. I saw the statue, and it IMEDIATELY connected with this scene.
Like you said: Maternal love to the MAX. Mike and Bryan did not do that coincidently.
Thing about Kataang is, it may be canon, but only one-sidedly. I too admit that Aang loves her...But Katara has given me nothing but motherly/friendly affections to work with towards him.
It looks like unrequitted love, to me.

... Where the f**k did they get the idea that we thought Zuko was joining the gaang to get with Katara? Dx Sure, people have joked about that, but I think pretty much everyone realizes those aren't his intentions.
I didn't read her rant, but I don't think I need to to understand what she's getting at. And it annoys me that people have sunken so low as to do something like that. Seriously. I understand being disappointed or upset by the events of a show, but bashing another part of the fandom to get out your anger? That's just wrong. And immature.
Guuuh! We really need some fanomd police. >.> Maybe if there was a group of people actually trying to stop this kind of thing regularly, it wouldn't get so out of hand.
