HELLANiiCE ...But, there was something about a giant street gang being after her and everything that she hadn't experienced before. The sudden appearance of her newfound nemesis stole Zeyla’s attention and Old Farley’s silence likely went unnoticed. He had crouched down beside a manhole cover but paused dramatically. Apparently something was supposed to be coming out of it. Jamison looked around as he felt his shirt being tugged at. He saw Zeyla behind himself and shot her a quizzical look. Tracing her line of sight he saw a group of roller-skaters and put two and two together. He looked back to say something to Zeyla but a sudden and massive explosion in the ground derailed his thoughts. Old Farley grasped the manhole cover and stared ominously at the crowd. Abruptly he removed his hand as though he were recoiling from touching something very hot. Seconds later the ground erupted and a surge of cement and earth was hurtled upwards into the sky. Some of those closest to Old Farley were flung into the air like limp dolls. The sound was deafening as glass from nearby buildings shattered and panic flooded the streets. Jamison felt the earth crack underneath himself and he was pulled into the crevice. It felt like an earthquake, he thought to himself, but so quick and powerful? His shoulder slammed into a jagged piece of cement and he grabbed for shoulder. The moment he did so, he regretted it. It had put him off balance and he tipped over and tumbled uncontrollably down an ever widening gap. Chunks of debris rolled by him and knocked into him. A large chunk hit him in the head and he began to lose consciousness as he slammed hard into an earthy ground. The quake appeared to have stopped but he now lay deep below street level. Lifting his head as much as his battered neck would allow, he saw Zeyla recovering from a similar fall. She bore a gash on her left cheek but she appeared to have fallen down a separate and less dangerous descent. He gave her a frail smile before consciousness finally slipped from him and the sounds of sirens and wailing melted into each other in a horrific chorus.

Nicole Laurin …She knew her boss was going to be mad, but she just couldn't help herself. She made her way over to where the other passengers were and pushed her way forcefully to the front. Gasps of surprise were already coming from the crowd as Lily pushed through. Some walked away to vomit. The bus driver simply stood there dumbly, chewing on the sunflower seeds still left in his mouth. As Lily reached the front a grim vision waited for her. A sprawled body lay near an open manhole. It looked human but the skin was unnaturally slimy and its arms curled oddly. A horrible smell came from it and attacked Lily’s nose. Traffic began to pool and soon a crowd would be forming. It wouldn’t be long before Lily would be late. The woman in the nice clothes who had sat next to Lily huffed off and hissed about complaining to the bus company. Or at least it sounded like the hiss could be coming from her, but upon closer examination it was coming from the open manhole. It wasn’t mechanical but sounded like it was coming from someone, or something. The Bus Driver peered curiously over the open hole. Lily had a choice, stay and continue to watch or hurry on towards work.

Skunk Blossoms …And then she just smiled mischievously, a grin that she hoped the stupid hippie girl would see. That guy can't protect you forever, not with all of us she thought evilly. The Old Man in the center grasped the manhole cover and stared ominously at the crowd. Abruptly he removed his hand as though he were recoiling from touching something very hot. Seconds later the ground erupted and a surge of cement and earth was hurtled upwards into the sky. Some of those closest to the Old Man were flung into the air like limp dolls. The sound was deafening as glass from nearby buildings shattered and panic flooded the streets. Alaina had been so distracted with thoughts of vengeance she didn’t have time to react as the ground was thrust apart from under her feet. Ryan, however, had been somewhat entranced by the Old Man and grabbed Alaina suddenly and the two tumbled over and crashed down through the widening ground. Ryan could hear Carlos cursing loudly and Leslie screaming. He instinctively clutched Alaina tighter to try and protect her as they crashed into the ground below street-level. Debris slammed into the ground nearby and Ryan pulled her into a fortunate overhanging that had been created in the unnatural quake. Carlos cried out loudly. At his feet lay Leslie, her arm broken and cuts all over her body. Blood covered the ground around her. The sound of Carlos’ yells danced horribly with the sounds of sirens and screams above.

~.Forever Enchanted.~ ...She had heard about the meteor. Everyone had. But worm people? They went beyond what even she, the girl who had millions of strange or creative thoughts tucked away in the back of her mind, could not imagine. The Old Man grasped the manhole cover and stared ominously at the crowd. It was like an unnatural earthquake had suddenly erupted. All around Ember the ground was cracking and tearing itself apart leaving huge gaps down into the earth below the street. The boy who had talked to her slipped and fell. He grasped for a handhold as he fell. He found one but began to slip from his momentum and the shaking of the ground. Upwards he looked as sirens filled the air and he yelled at Ember. “Help…help me up! Hurry!” He struggled to maintain his grip and he hoped she wasn’t too frightened to run off and save herself.

Mortal Being …She would not leave him behind. No, not at all. Nothing was going to stop him from chasing her. Puffin bolted through the alleyway and turned a corner. The smell became more and more intoxicating the closer she got to it. She stuck her nose to the ground. Sniffing harder now she was sure it was upon her now. Suddenly a figure appeared. It looked human as far as Puffin could tell but it was slimy, and it smelled sweet. It bent down and looked at Puffin with a blank face. Something was…different about it. Moving its head rigidly, it looked around the alley. Its attention though was abruptly turned towards the end of the alleyway as trash cans tumbled from around the corner and Aaron came running.

Lily had one of two options, be late for work and stay, or head off now and miss one of the most interesting things to happen to her. Never being one to truly care for working, Lily took a tentative step forward. However, she stopped dead in her tracks when the scent hit her. It was absolutely rancid. She pulled her shirt up over her nose, blocking the scent as best she could. Even with that horrid smell attacking her, she couldn't help but inch a little closer. Curiousity nagged at her, driving her forward. She just had to know what this slimy thing was. She ignored everything else, focusing on the creature before her. Whatever it was, it was surely going to be the most exciting thing ever for her.
Her attention was distracted when she heard the hiss. At first she thought it was that angry business woman, but when she listened more intently, she realized it was coming from the open manhole. She continued to slowly walk forward, unsure of how close she wanted to get to this scene. Finally she stopped moving, still covering her nose and trying to ignore the stench that reached her. She stood there, eyes wide in a mixture of horror, excitement, and wonder. She completely forgot about having to go to work, now entranced by this oddity before her eyes.

Alaina didn't have time to react with the ground shaking and caving in below her feet. She would have screamed, but the force of Ryan tumbling on to her knocked it out. Her eyes widened as they fell below the surface, watching te debris fall with them, and the dim light from the sky becoming distant. Panic was more present than ever in Alaina, but she couldn't scream, couldn't even whimper, nothing could get past the frightened lump in her throat.
As they collided with the almost moist ground, Alaina could hear the unmistakable cry from Carlos, and fear clouded her mind. Something was horribly wrong, it didn't take a genius to figure that out. What frightened her the most, though, was that she couldn't hear Leslie at all. A pained expression made it's way onto her face, as her eyes started to tear up. She clutched onto Ryan, pulling him as tight as she could, filling the empty space that was left between them. Her vision was blurry, due to the tears, as she watched the scene in horror. People were running around hysterically, crying and sobbing and leaning over their friends and loved ones who lay limp on the mangled ground. She was beginning to hope that this was just a horrible nightmare, it was surreal enough to be.
She let out a staggered breath, more like a sob as she tried her best to get the lump out of her throat. Her voice came shaking, studdering, "R.. Ryan?" she asked, turning her neck so she could see his face, see if he was hurt. It didn't seem he had any injuries, and she was greatful. She dug her face into his chest, most likely staining his shirt with the salty tears that spilled from her eyes. She clung to him, frightened by this unexplained event, but finally turned her face away from his shirt. In the distance she couldjust make out the hippie girl and her man. He was laying unconscious, it seemed, disshevled on the ground, while she merely came out with a cut along her cheek. Alaina would've resumed her angriness toward the girl, if she had not been horrified of the mayhem going on around her.
She glanced heavily around once more, searching for the people dear to her, only to find a gruesome sight that brought the tears spilling back down her cheeks tenfold. Leslie, one of her best friends, was one of the many to lay limp across the rocky floor. A pool of blood surrounded her body as Carlos kept crying out in anguish. "No.." Alaina's voice was small, a hushed whisper, "No, no, no!" she cried out and slipped out of Ryan's suffocating arms. She scrambled up onto her feet, for once unnaware of the rollerblades strapped on to them as she slid forward, tripping. She didn't care though, not about the sting from the scrapes on her palms, not about the excess debris that fell to cover her blue hair like the ashes of those lost in this accident, all she cared about was Leslie. She climbed over the fallen chunks of street, stumbling like a newborn thompson gazelle over to her friends. She fell to her knees beside Leslie's body, grimacing and crying, feeling ashamed of the weakness she was exurting. But again, now was not the time to care about such things, just like she didn't care that her clothes were now soaked with the blood of her closest friend.

Nicole Laurin ...She stood there, eyes wide in a mixture of horror, excitement, and wonder. She completely forgot about having to go to work, now entranced by this oddity before her eyes. At the bottom of the ladder leading down from the street, Lily could see a slimy creature sprawled on the ground. It had no eyes that could be seen upon a head that looked twisted in an uncomfortable way. Perhaps it had also been hit by the bus. Its arms curved and came to a point forming a shape similar to a scythe. The torso down to its end was reminiscent of a snake or worm. The sliminess of its skin only reinforced this feeling. Hissing sounds were coming from it, though it had no mouth with which to make noise. Louder and louder the hissing began to grow. Others gathered around the hole where they could. Then, the hissing stopped. Some of the people looked at each other as if to say “What now?” The bus driver stretched apathetically and spit some seeds into a cup. “Oh, s**t!” exclaimed a person looking down and there was a horrifying screech below. All eyes rushed back downward as another of those creatures appeared at the injured one’s side. This one, however, had an oddly shaped mouth which it was using to make those earsplitting cries. Fear surged through the onlookers as four more appeared down below. There was no time. With frightening speed the five creatures hurtled out of the sewer and on to the streets. Panic exploded like a bomb. The creatures gave chase, as though lusting for revenge. A woman was overcome and in her last moments cried out before being silenced. The chaos that had ensued trapped Lily in a swarm of hisses and screams. Escape seemed grim and she could consider the circumstances only briefly. To try and escape by running through the crowd appeared difficult, what with the beasts in a frenzy and people trampling each other to flee. Two people who also had been ignored by the creatures bravely jumped down the manhole cover to flee. It appeared that the sewers themselves might be safer, but it was unknown if any others lurked down below. The bus sat running, the keys still in the ignition its door open and the driver’s seat empty. Near the open door however one of the creatures feverishly attacked an unfortunate victim. Three choices, but there was only time to make one.

But again, now was not the time to care about such things, just like she didn't care that her clothes were now soaked with the blood of her closest friend. Alaina was left little time to mourn the death of Leslie. Above at street level came a new wave of panicked screaming. This time however sharp hisses and screeches joined the chaos. Others had fallen down too and they turned their heads skyward listening to the horrible sounds, their imaginations left to picture what terrors must be making themselves known. Gunshots ripped through the air and a screeching voice became silent. “What the hell is going on?” Carlos asked, his eyes raised. A scream from behind and Carlos wheeled around. A group of people were stumbling over debris, behind them a slithering creature with arms that reminded him of scythes was in pursuit. A girl tripped and fell forward her face dashing against a stone. She cried out and two boys from the group broke away to help her. The stronger of the two lifted a boulder off of her foot that snared her. Hoisting the girl onto their shoulders they made to rejoin the group but the creature had overcome them. Within moments the stronger boy was on the ground, several gashes in his back from the creatures arms. Rather heroically the smaller of the two boys grabbed a stone and hurled it at the creature. It was stunned, but only momentarily. Carlos shook his head quickly and ran towards them. “They need help!” He called back to Alaina and Ryan. Ryan looked at Alaina, he had been watching the rest of the group that had continued to run and they found an exit through a large tunnel. He gave her a painful look, letting her know he was torn between running to save himself and helping out Carlos.

The situation changed so quickly Lily barely had time to react. As the creatures had begun their attack, she somehow remained unharmed. Everything became a blur of action and panic, the sounds of the creatures and their victims filled Lily's head. She looked around for an escape route, and saw three options. She could take her chance with the crowd, but there was a greater chance she would either be trampled or attacked. She could try to steal the bus and make her escape that way, but she would have to get past that creature first, and she didn't even know how to drive a bus. Then there was the manhole, and eerily quiet black hole that opened up into mystery, and possibly a great deal more danger. Each one held its own risks, but she had to choose fast. She saw two other people jump down the manhole, and with one glance over her shoulder at the crowd behind her, she jumped as well. Only time would tell if this choice of hers had been foolish, or saved her life. She hadn't truly thought it over, merely taken the first option that seemed to hold any amount of safety. Later, she would likely regret this decision, as she had no light, and no way to navagate the maze that was the sewers. In and instant, everything was dark as the light from above was cut off, save for the circle of the manhole above. Nothing filled her mind as she fell, only a strange sense of calm. The sounds from above seemed muted in this dark place. The only thought that even crossed Lily's mind was, I should have climbed rather than jumped. Hopefully, she wouldn't be too hurt by her fall.

Nicole Laurin ...The only thought that even crossed Lily's mind was, I should have climbed rather than jumped. Hopefully, she wouldn't be too hurt by her fall. Lily landed safely enough, the fall wasn't a very big one but in times of panic small mistakes turn easy tasks into big problems. The corpse of the beast lay quite still, though the same putrid stench crept from it. Being cylindrical in shape, two paths split themselves for Lily. The first lay to her left with only small spears of light from other manhole covers telling her it went on for quite a distance, most likely even into the heart of city. The other however, curved around the corner to her right and she could see a light flashing about similar to something that might come from a flashlight. Outside a mechanical groaning came and seconds later the ground above shook violently as the sound of the bus toppling echoed through the sewer. The way back to the surface had been shut, the bus now covered the opening. Darkness pressed in on Lily's eyes.

Lily's heart pounded heavily in her chest as everything went back. Her head turned, first left, then right, then back again. She did this for a few minutes, trying to calm her nerves and decide where to go. The stench that reached her didn't seem to bother her as much, she was likely growing accustomed to the smell, or she was too scared to care. All her life she had put on the tough girl act, as though nothing phased. Yet her she lie, below the surface, alone and never more terrified in her life. She shivered slightly, rocking back and forth. One foot slipped out and nudged the creature. She couldn't help herself. She let out a scream and scurryed backwards, hitting the rounded wall behind her. For a moment she simply knelt there, like a terrified child, whimpering and shaking in fear. Nothing like this had ever happened to her, she only wished she were not alone.
After only a few seconds, she found her whits and remembered that she had seen two others come down here. She took a slow, shuddering breath, forcing her fear from her mind, clearing it for the time being. She looked down on direction, where small bits of light showed where the manholes were. She then turned her head, and saw in the other direction, a small flashing light. Her heart lifted slightly and she forced herself to her feet, her hand staying on the wall as a guide. She slowly walked away from the still creature, pushing the thoughts of it from her mind, focusing only on the light. She hoped that the light was a person, if only to keep her from being alone. Her body still shook slightly, but she was starting to regain control.

She hoped that the light was a person, if only to keep her from being alone. Her body still shook slightly, but she was starting to regain control. The rhythmic dripping of water met Lily's ears as she turned the corner. Under each manhole cover the sounds of the panic above spiked but now the blaring sirens of Police vehicles joined in. Looking forward down the tunnel, two figures could be seen walking near the end of the stretch until it forked again. One was carrying a flashlight and was saying something to the other but the distance made it near impossible to hear what they were saying. Lily would need to get closer, or she could call out from where she was.

Lily saw the figures and her heart skipped a beat. She could have leapt with joy, if she thought she wouldn't fall over. She never let her hand leave the wall, though her pace quickened. She had to hurry, or else she might loose the only other people that seemed to be down here. She could just make out where there was another bend in the tunnel, and they were so close to it. She had to get their attention, but was it wise to yell out? What if more creatures lurked in the darkness? She bit her lip as she now broke into a light jog, still unsure of what she could do. Under each manhole the sounds from above met her ears, but she blocked them out as best she could. She focused on that light, the point to which she had to get. The other two appeared to be walking, so perhaps she could cover the distance before she lost them. She could hear their voices, yet she couldn't hear what they were saying. Finally, she could take it no longer, she had to call out. "Hey. Stop, please wait." Her voice was not loud, she was still a little aprehensive. However, though her voice was quiet, it seemed to echo around her in the tunnel. It was likely the other two wouldn't hear her exact words, but maybe they would just hear her voice. "Hey!" She said it louder, almost a yell.

Ember felt the ground shake moments before it began to break apart. She had just enough time to kneel down and level her weight. She winced as people screamed and fell, as children called for their mothers, or as those same mothers called for their loves. Her life didn't matter at the moment. She didn't really have anyone to live for...but everyone else. She had to do something. As Brian fell to through the pavement around them she forced herself to surpress a scream. She got over the shock quickly, though and forced herself to crawl forward. Her hands and knees scraping the pavement. She was slow, but not too much so. It was only to keep herself from falling as well. She felt the pavement begin to crack beneath her and winced, holding her breath. It settled, and so did she, continuing on her way to him. "I'm coming. Just hang on! Please just hang on!" She finally made it to him and looked below her, her eyes filled with tears. She reached out a hand and took hold of his wrist, making sure that the one hand he was using to hold himself up didn't slip. As she reached down her other hand, she grasped tighter. "Pull as best you can. I can't do this on my own."
