Anxiously Imo glanced from side to side as he moved; he'd only ventured into the open streets once, and that'd been five years ago. Due to the disaster that had followed, he'd never tried again.

I think splitting them up into two sentences makes it more dramatic. The first sentence in the second paragraph is pretty long. Try using periods a little more, rather than semicolons.))

As they rounded the corner, Yolanda immediately knew their mistake. Regular humans never really did mix well with dragons or drows. Come to think of it, they didn't like mages much, either. Their eyes drifted over to the three, making their way towards the Mages District. For a moment, they paused, each of them looking in the direction of the other. Yolanda held her breath and hoped that they wouldn't make a big scene.

No such luck.

A moment and a few shouts later, Yolanda was sprinting down the alleyway, calling on the other two to follow. Lights turned on in the homes around them and civillians with weapons came to try and chase away the intruders. Their only option was to try and reach the gates of the Mages District before they were skewered.

((*Ish wacked*ACK! Yeesh! ok ok...>.<))

"Blood and ashes.." Was all the drow said as she tried to urge the dragon after the mage. With the wyrm's large proportions, it would be hard for it to go very fast in the small streets, and Lasha knew that her and Yolanda would outdistance him unless he took flight....'That's it!' She shouted mentally, a smile playing across her face as she turned to Ino..

"Hurry, get to the sky and grab the mage, she'll show you where to go, I'll try and follow as quick as I can."

The sheath she usually kept strapped to her back hung at her waist, and sparked with a reddish light as she pulled her sword from it. Standing out brightly, the runes upon Shan'naal pulsed with the drow's anger and frustration. This seemed to make the humans coming after them hesitate a moment, and Lashantha hoped it would be enough to let Ino get away and help Yolanda..

(("Lasha knew that she and Yolanda would outdistance him"

And Imo, not Ino whee

*hums and goes to write*))

Imo's eyes bulged as he scrambled to get out of the way of the oncoming mass, scared out of his wits. Eyes rolling back, he heard the the drow speak quickly, instructing him... But he couldn't take off from just the ground yet! His wings weren't big enough!

Desperate, he scrambled towards the buildings behind them, away from the crowd. Skidding to a stop as he reached the base of a two-story inn, Imo dropped all thoughts of minimizing property damage and dug his claws into the wooden surface. It was akward, but within a minute he was on top of the roof; long lines of gouges from where from his claws had raked into the wood marked his progress up the wall. A small section of his mind registered a series of shouts in his direction, most likely from the inn owner, but he ignored them in his concentration.

With a flare Imo spread his wings; he hesitated a second, wanting to go back after Lasha, but as far as he could tell it looked as though she was quite capable of taking care of herself. Steeling himself, he launched off the roof; a short, sickening sensation of freefall was followed his own sigh of relief as his wings caught the air and held him.

The mage was probably far ahead now--it'd taken him too long to get up the building. Imo flapped his wings a few times to gain some height; he hadn't quite mastered the coordination required, however, and ended up several yards to the left of the street, over the buildings instead. Tilting his wings to the side, Imo tried to glide back over the roadway. He half screeched, half shouted the mage's name as he flew back over the humans, vainly searching for her hooded figure.

edit: all done...))

((Bleh, nothing really bothering me there biggrin ))

Yolanda glanced up at the sky and skidded to a stop, gaping. It took her a moment to realize that he was screaming her name, considering it sounded like an off-tune song.

"Well, at least he can fly," she murmured softly, taking off again to get away from the mad crowd. Her feet were propelled by bursts of air to increase her speed. She was almost at the gate of the Mages District and with the angry mob not too far behind, she let out a sigh of relief.

"Over here!" she shouted at both Lasha and Imo and pointing towards the golden gates. Once they were inside, they would be safe. Her feet pounded on the ground and she mentally thanked herself for going through all the endurance training when she was young.

((Yeah, it's short...))

As a few of the men advanced towards her cautiously, she twirled the blade in slender hands what seemed almost without any effort. One of them got bold and jumped at her, two thin lines of blood going down his cheeks soon made him fall back into the crowd.

The blade was very thin and razor sharp. Enraged that his comrade had been bloodied, another man confronted her, and the drow spun Shan'naal so fast that it blurred. Dizzied by the motion, the man swayed slightly, before he knew it, he got a face full of hilt and a kick in the gut.

"Over here!" Lasha heard and she spun to flee. Imo had gotten into the air safely and Yolanda seemed to have gotten close to the mage district. Her sword sank back into it's magical sheath and the slender figure darted away from the mob, long legs carrying her in the direction the mage had called from.

((What is this "it's magical sheath" thing I'm seeing? XD))

Imo glided high above the mage's head as she ran towards the gates of their sanctuary. He soon passed her, actually, but he didn't want to risk trying to turn around and go back what with his coordination. Imo watched from his vantage point in the sky as the fastest humans reached the gate and--just stopped, as if an invisible brick wall had suddenly appeared. The stones and mud they threw continued on through the gates quite well, but not a single human stepped a toe over the imaginary line dividing the districts.

Imo couldn't feel or smell any magic other than the general ambiance the district itself always had. Puzzled, he tilted his wings in order to begin a large loop to bring him back towards the gates. Perhaps there was some kind of taboo about the place that prevented magicless humans from entering?

Imo's head fell out of the clouds rather suddenly as he realized that he had reached a dangerously low altitude; his claws would actually brush a couple rooftops if he dropped another foot. Flapping as quickly as he could to stay aloft, Imo tried to get back over the open street before he completely crashed.

((I don't think I'll have a chance to post again before Thursday evening due to finals, just so ya knows.))

Yolanda knew they couldn't enter. Normal humans couldn't unless they were admitted in by a mage. However, a creature like a dragon could easily pass the barrier. It was so large that it's mass alone was too much for such a weak shield to contain. Besides, humans weren't strong enough to require an incredibly strong shield. Preparing to enter the District, she readied the spell that would open the gate.

"Ishna lah frer'ro," she chanted, "Ishna lah frer'la." The golden gates began to swing open.

"Run towards it!" she yelled to the Drow as she turned to defend the gate so that Lasha could get through. With the gate open, the barrier was weakened and Yolanda didn't want any humans getting in there and destroying everything.

Flipping her staff around, she began to chant a familliar enchantment.

"Leave here civillians, you may not pass!" she shouted at the crowd, but they didn't seem to hear her. Not surprising.

((ahahaha...She has a magical sheath..since her sword would have to have a very oddly shaped sheath if it was a normal one...her blade looks kinda like a very wide scimitar..with a three foot blade...the sheath looks like a broad-sword sheath..so yeah...))

Running as fast as she could, the drow was hit in the back of the head with something heavy, she tumbled to the ground in a daze, her hood slipping off her head. Gasps and cries soon sounded behind her as she re-oriented herself, continuing her get-away, though very unsteadily now.

"By the gods it's a dark elf!" One man shouted with fear clearly drenching his deep voice. "KILL IT!" Another shouted and the hail of stones and dirt began anew.

The teetering figure got through the gates though, feeling a slight tingle as she stepped through the invisible barrier. "I'm through, now get yourself in..." Lasha shouted, her head throbbing.

"Orbb Valsharess, ulg uns'aa sreen'aur.." The drow shouted and tendrils of magic grabbed Yolanda, pulling her through the gates and shoving the gates closed. Then they 'weaved' their way into the allready standing shield, re-enforcing it, though only temporarily. Feeling drained, she touched the back of her head, wincing and feeling something warm and wet, she slipped into unconsiousness, succuming to it's dark comfort.

((Naw, I mean that darned grammatical error ya keep makin'. Can ya spot it for me?))

Imo twisted to angle himself towards the street as he lost more and more altitude. He fliched as his wing clipped a building in the middle of the turn, and he reflexively scrunched it in, away from the place that'd given him pain. The action tipped him in midair, however; unable to straighten the one wing, he pulled the other in too. He dropped like a stone into the roadway without anything to hold him up; miraculously he actually was somewhat upright after the landing, if rather bruised from the sharp impact.

That's the problem with flying in the first place when no one ever taught you how to land properly. He stood up and shook himself out before turning to look back at the gates. So the mage and drow had managed to get inside too... Snuffling, he approached them, realizing that the drow was unconcious and that the barrier between the three and the humans outside was now weakening, even enforced by whatever Lasha had just done. What to do, what to do...?

That sentence is a little bit awkward...))

Yolanda felt herself pulled back as the gate swung shut. Letting out a sigh of relief, she knew that no human could enter here. Even if they did, they would meet a rather unhappy welcoming party; full of mages.

As she turned, she saw Lasha fall and frowned. Well, it seemed like they hadn't all gotten out of this unscathed. A trip to the healer would have to be made soon. In the meantime, she should be brought back to the mage's home.

With a wave of her staff, she body of the Drow floated into the air and began moving towards her house.

Yolanda's home was huge made almost entirely of glass. It was like a large dome, sparkling even in the dark. The doors and windows were wooden and seemed larger than possible; even though it was just an illusion. From inside, one could see out, but no one could see into the home.

"Please, enter," she called out to Imo as the door opened. It stretched to accomodate any creature which had an invitation inside. However, to theives, it wouldn't even open.

((....i see it.. whee Though i can't really do very much at the moment...umm...))

Floating in a void of darkness, unbidden images appeared to Lasha's mental eye. It was her homeland, though horribly twisted. Her mother had died, and everything was in ruins for there had been controversy over who would take the clan's throne. Her younger siblings had fought, killing each other off one by one, finally throwing the rest of the clan into utter and complete Chaos.

Wanting to scream, her lip twitched, but she kept dreaming.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2004 9:22 am

((technically you shouldn't do "It was her homeland"... it's an indefinite pronoun.))

Imo tiptoed inside, tail swishing slowly behind him, slightly hesitant about entering an enclosed space other than his own den. He could feel the extra dose of magic here, even if he wasn't yet old enough or skilled enough to determine its type and intent. His claws clicked against the floor as he paused in the foyer-like area, turning to inspect the drow's injury more thoroughly.

"How bad is she hurt, can you tell?" Imo held his head close to first her head and then her heart, trying to figure it out himself if he could. "She feels like she's sleeping, but it's not quite the same..." Puzzled and worried, he sat back on his haunches, careful to leave plenty of room for the mage to inspect Lasha herself if she felt the need.

((a little short compared to how I've been getting better at writing longer posts these days, but I didn't want to assume much about the inside of her house before you told us...))

((Maybe I should've done that sweatdrop ))

The interior of the home was larger than it seemed possible, looking from the outside. The front foyer had a marble floor and was longer than it was wide. Near the end, there were two spiraling staircases, both made of marble that went up into the second floor. There was also a third and fourth floor, which were similar to the second. The foyer was furnished with comfy chairs and a small fountain down the hall.

"She's unconcious and probably dreaming," Yolanda replied after leaving and returning with some medicinal herbs. With these, she made two beakers of liquid. One was a painkiller and the other was a healing drink. Neither one had a nice taste to it.

"We should let her sleep," she added, after her body floated down and placed itself gently on one of the couches, "It looks like a head wound, though. I'm glad that Drows are stronger than humans."

Ravenar, seated currently in his cramped study, twitched as he heard the ruckus outdoors. "Bloody..." Ravenar scoffed as he stood, scooting his chair out of the room, exiting, and pushing it back in as a method to exit. His 'study' consisted of a closet that was not in use, its door removed, and crammed with shelves of books and a small desk used for writing and reading.

He walked down the hall, his black robes swishing against the carpet. He had his hood down, since he was in the comfort of his own home. He still felt the need to hide himself, and with good reason. Religious zealots were never in short supply, and thusly he had to keep hidden. Drow were never welcomed anywhere.

He enetered his den, which was not very large at all. His bedroom was not large, either. This was a small, cramped place that did not suit a mage, one of the poorest homes in the Mage District. He was mightier than this squalor told. He could easily level this town should he desire, but violence was not in Ravenar's morals, at least not that of the senseless style.

"Another day, I suppose..." He said with a sigh. He had little money, and he hadn't eaten in quite some time... Pulling up the hood on his black cloak, he stepped outside, keeping his hands within his robes, as to disguise his true racial heritage.

He walked down the street, uneventful, as there was hardly a soul upon the path he walked, nor around it. He passed a few shops. He wouldn't be able to buy the pretty gems he always wanted. He loved gems and was quite a jeweler himself, as he did it as a hobby. Ravenar himself wore several rings with various gems in them, most of them small and very meager in comparison to that which nobility wore.

Other than that, Ravenar's mind was blank as he walked down the street.

(I have no idea where you guys are xx; Or what to do, so that was all I got...)
