Both brothers took out there blades. They stared at eachother, wishing they didn't have to try and kill eachother. But they had both sworn in the Ancient language, and that was binding. Nari said,"Brother forgive me for this" he said. He yeleld,"Brisingr!" and threw a flaming knife at his brother, cutting and charring his shoulder.

Laeus murmured in the Ancient language and threw a ball of water at Nari. Nari jumped and hit it back at his brother. Laeus said,"You're going to have to much more advanced magic if you wish to kill me!." Nari loked at him andsaid,"I was about to say the same thing." The dragons crashed again. Nari extracted water from a creek below and turned two rods of it into ice spears. He threw one at Laeus, and teh other at Lifaen. He hit the dragon in the wing stem and his brother melted teh other.

The dragons began circlign eachother again and flying by eachother so the Riders could fight. Swords clashed and clanged in the sky.

Nari ignited his blade on fire and his brother did likewise, except with water. They banged the two elemental swords together, steam instead of sparks, rising. Nari jumped on Glaedr's tail and put awau his sword and pulled out his bow and arrows. He yelled,"Brisingr!" and shot the flaming arrow. He hit Laeus in the right lung, shooting him a mile away at best. Lifaen sped after Laeus. Nari watched his brother, who was his best friend, Fly away, possibly dieing. He fell to his knees on Glaedr and began to cry. He had possibly killed Laeus, and knew he had to save him. He told Glaedr and tehy flew after them Nari sending a mental probe to Auburn,"Don't follow this time. Or else I will have to put you in a deep sleep that you wouldn't wake up from for a hundred years, and thats a promise!"

Nari and Glaedr searched long and hard for their brothers. Lifaen's scaled matched so well with the forest below. Nari said,"Skulblaka SVen!" and had teh same sight as Glaedr. They caught sight of Laeus, with the arrow still in his lung. Nari flew down and ran to his brother, taking out the arrow and halting the blood."Brother, forgive me. I did not wish to do this to you!"

"Na-Nari? I cannot die, yet. The ancient magic won't let me. I swore in the Ancient language and until I fufill my oath, I must walk as a living corpse. You did not kill me, it was my own blindness, I see now that I should not have gone to the enemy."

"Mother may not forgive you, but I do. I pray you will fufill your swear and promise to the dwarf king."


"No, you don't. I swore I would kill you and Glaedr, and that i wouldn't die until I did so."

"Well, brother, I cannot heal death, and you said yourself, you are already dead, so I leave you."

He went back on Glaedr and flew back towards the inn.

Glaedr said,"Its been long since we have just gone flying for fun, Do you want to go on a joyride?"

"Yes that would be great. Lets go!"

Glaedr flew towards some mountains to the west and they did some maneuvers and flew down between mountains and flew all over. Near sunset they both went to the top of the highest mountain and layed down, tired from the flight."Lets rest here for the night. We won't get back to the inn until very late in the morning and I'd rather not wake anyone."

Nari sat by the fire, leaning against the sleeping form of Glaedr. He played an Elven flute. The stars seemed to glow brighter and brighter with each note. He looked up at Aeidal the great star. It was brightest of all.

"He is dead, yet still living." He continued to play the flute, making flowers grow on the mountain top.
