Mackerel flinched, but only when Nikolai yelled out. The young, un-used voice hurt her ears.

She heard two boys discussing what must be done. As much as she hated to admit it, Kerel agreed. They had already seen what this "Storm" had done to Gaia, and if they were to continue living there, then they must do something about it - here!

The little girl turned her blue eyes to the misty figure on the wall and took a deep sigh, "What do we do and how?"

((Okay, soo... technically all the Heralds are present and all will be making a sacrifice. It's just that those people that RP will have more... freedom? to pick what that will be.))

When questions were directed at it, then the being turned its glossy eyes in the direction of the speaker. It waited a little bit before speaking.

"Well, as I mentioned, you all must make a sacrifice. This could be anything - something from your person, something you made, or a direct object made from any powers you may possess. Many of you are young, very young, so your powers may not be fully developed. However, given this extreme situation, I can help you tap into them if you so choose this path." It wasn't completely sure this would work. Last time, the Heralds had directly connected the Sanctum to themselves. Obviously, this hadn't lasted once they all 'forgot' about this sanctuary. It hoped that maybe this method would last longer.

"This wall here can serve as the platform for such sacrifices. It will also help to bridge the gap of old and new." Or so it hoped.

It looked around expectantly. A couple came forward. One took a sharp rock and cut off a bound lock of hair. Another pulled out -quite painfully, too- a feather. Both put their sacrifices on the wall next to the sitting being. The hair and feather glowed a little bit - the sacrifices were made.

((So... here's the deal!

Everyone must make a sacrifice, regardless if they are RPing it or not. If you do not RP, it is assumed something was sacrificed.

Here's the bonus for RPing.... these sacrifices will continue through the Sanctum.... make a mark for your Herald! mrgreen You can make a picture of your sacrifice, commision one, or buy one from an item shop.

If you are buying something from an item shop, post (with your RP) the link to the shop and the order form, and Heralds will pick up the check! Keep in mind, it MUST be 1,00g or less. If you REALLY want a particular item, you are free to pay the difference. Gold cannot be given to someone else. It is either spent or not.

To keep simple, here are the rules for this 'prompt':
1. RP you Herald offering up their sacrifice.
2. If you are buying from a shop:
...post link
...post completed order form (Heralds will go to the shop and order it with gold in hand)
(Keep in mind: Heralds will pay 1,000g or less for the item)
3. Check out the other thread (in Sanctum subforum of Guild) and list what YOU would like to see in the "New' Sanctum.

Feel free to ask questions in the main shop.))

Mackerel played with her hem again. They all had to sacrifice something, eh? Well, she definately did not want to give up any hair.... now try and pull a glowing feather out.... and there was no way she'd tear off a piece of her nightgown!

That meant one option was left.

The Herald walked up to the wall, and near the being. With a slight blush, she went next to its knee. She gave it a look, to kinda say that she would need help.... and then closed her eyes.

Lifting her hands, she held them on the wall as though she were encircling... something. A green glow came under her hands and what looked like a drop of blood fell between the appendages.

When Mackerel opened her eyes and took a step back, a cracked green orb rested where her hands once were. It glowed with a golden light, another sacrifice given freely.

A sacrifice, huh? Well, he didn't have anything to cut his hair off with (not that he would, the last time he tried to do that (on Subo, but details...) was a disaster), and pulling out feathers hurt, so...

Rummaging around in his pockets, he smiled slightly. It was a good thing he brought it with him before he left. He held it tightly in his hand, remembering how he had to sneak into Subo's room and take it when she was asleep. He was glad that she had just put it down to being lost, and didn't ask him too many questions. With a sigh, he stepped towards the wall and reached out to put the object on the wall. Hesitating for a moment, he dropped what he held next to Mackerel's sacrifice.

One half of a pair of earrings. The ruby eyes of the snake glittered in the light, it's silver body wound sinuously around a dark red orb. The mate to the one that had been sacrificed that rainy night long ago...
It seemed appropriate, in any case.
After this task was done, he quickly retreated back into the group of friends and acquaintances, for once not wishing to be the one being paid attention to.

Kemuri, who had remainedd silent from the rest for quite a bit, saw that he too must forfeit a sacrifice just like all the herald guardians had when they received their heralds. he could not think of anything to offer to this place as he hadn't anything on him. He dug out his wallet that he hand crafted himself from loose jean material and some random stuff he found around the room.

He pulled out all of his cash and shoved it gently into his pocket. It was so hard to let it go since he was so attached to it. He had it throughout the whole Storm since the time he went to eat ice cream at the Mall's food court with Shayna. He didn't want to let it go as he was undecided to put it down or not. so many memories with the item he had made... But he thought back to his own sacrifice.

He knew that his previous guardian had loved their crow so dearly and yet, they gave it up to give him life. He decided he would let it go to the Sanctum. He placed the wallet with the green fish bone on it down next to the Lind's earring.

Choked hiccups came from the small child as he stopped his tears and watched the others. They all were giving up things important to them, and there was the small child- in a nightgown with no pockets, and nothing he owned with him- expected to give a gift as well. He looked frustrated a moment, with little more than a childish pout as he grasped a strand of his hair, looked down at his gown. Nothing he had on him could be of use to anyone.

In his pouting irritation, the little Herald's wings flickered. The faint color in the white orbs of light all the more clear up close. As the boy stared, he became transfixed on one of the little glowing stars, and reached to take it.

The little star glided away from it's brothers as Nikolai held it in his hands, but pulled faintly to return to them. Knowing he could not set the little ball of light down, Nikolai looked up to the Guardian, and held up his offering in person.

Rand hadn't thought to bring anything with him as he went out at night, into the storm. But he was a determined kid, and a resourceful one. "I'll be right back!" he shouted, as he went racing towards the treeline.

SNAP! A branch came off a tree. Snap! Another branch, more a twig really, shorter than the first.

Snap snap snap snap snapsnapsnap...

Rand stripped the first, longer branch of any jutting twigs, leaving just the relatively straight stick. Then, he laid the shorter branch across it, frowning at his handiwork. How was he going to get them to stay together.

AH-ha!

The long grasses down by the lake gave him a clue, and he went racing towards them, pulling them up and using them to secure the two branches together. In the end, he ran to the wall and placed down the two branches, tied together in the shape of the thing most beloved to Rand at the time:

A play sword.

The Guardian sat, and waited. When the last sacrifice was made, they all gave off a very strong light. The white light encompassed them all and bleached out the whole Sanctum. All that could be seen were the Heralds and the Guardian.

White teeth flashing in the light, the Sanctum Guardian smiled. "The sacrifices have been made, and the Sanctuary of the Heralds will exist for at least one more generation. Thank you, all of you."

And with that.... the whole world went white.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Alone in the new Sanctum, the Guardian looked around. Its energy was almost spent, and it would have to return once more to being the silent and invisible protector of the sanctuary. It couldn't help but notice the differences already. Time would be the telling factor to all the complete changes, but the Sanctum was bigger and more wide spread.

Even as the Guardian disappeared, the Sanctum recreated itself.... in the image of its own Sacrifices.

((NOTE! ALL the Heralds were sent back to a single place.... there is now an angel figurine -looking suspiciously like the Guardian- in the center of the Gaia Cemetary made of the pure silver stone similar to the sacrifice slabs. It is assumed they all disperse from that point.))
