[[Type: RP Entry]] After a week of deliberation, Ovelia and Eve left the house in search of a suitable pet. The pet store down the street proved to be useless, all the pets were boring and none could even talk. With a heavy heart, the duo prepared to go back home to their lonely house when they noticed a streak of yellow flash by, down into an alley. Ovelia gasped. "What was that?" Eve followed her over to the alley, where a shy, yellow and black patchworked creature lay, shivering near a can of overflowing garbage. "Hello, little guy..." she whispered, and the creature's large ears perked up. "Want to come home with us?" The creature got up and bolted down the alley. Eve and Ovelia sighed. "He was so pretty," remarked Ovelia, and Eve agreed whole-heartedly. They returned home to an expectant 'Mew. He was disappointed as well. That night, Ovelia was awakened by a scratching at the front door. She was afraid it might be the puppet returning, but she didn't let it get to her. She fearlessly (and curiously) opened the door and by the stray beam of moonlight she saw the yellow creature's pale features. He looked like he was starving. "You want to come in?" she asked, softly, not wanting to scare him. It was apparent this creature didn't talk, but she knew he was still a perfect housemate. The furry little thing hopped inside, and Ovelia shut the door. Despite it being 2 in the morning, Ovelia fed the new pet, bathed and scrubbed him, and put a flea collar on him for good measure. After his makeover, he seemed more vibrant than ever, and a lick on the cheek proved he was grateful. "Just wait 'til Eve sees you..." said Ovelia, grinning, "she'll flip."

Dear Journal,
I've had such a good day. We found a stray cat-thing while looking for a new pet, and Ovelia somehow got it to follow us and come inside. I love the little guy, but I think 'Mew's a little jealous. He often goes into his kitty form and wriggles into my arms-- when Deus is already there. 'Mew is not the cuddly type. He gets cuddly when Deus is around, though... it's really cute.
...I need a job. Bleh. It's winter break and school's not important. I need a way to make money.

"11 days left!" Ovelia said happily, as she put her advent calendar away. This was her first Christmas ever, and despite looking like a teenager, she was still so young. The story of Santa Claus made her grip her blanket in wonder the night before when Eve told it to her. This was the most exciting thing she had ever thought could happen to her.
'Mew and Asmodeus both patrolled their Christmas tree. It was small but it got the job done. Ovelia and Eve put a few ornaments on-- all golden or white. The golden ones Eve loved especially, and she would see herself in each gold orb before hanging it on the tree.
As Eve hung up their stockings, she could hear Ovelia reciting "the stockings hung over the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas would soon be there". She smiled. Even though she knew the truth about Santa, she wouldn't let Ovelia's surprise be spoiled. 'Mew snickered everytime Ovelia mentioned him, however, and Eve would have to kick him lightly and toss him a dirty glare.
Everything seemed so perfect. Now all they had to do was wait.

It had been a bitterly cold day. As Eve and Ovelia sat near her fireplace and poked at it with metal pokers, 'Deus and 'Mew sat near the closed window and watched it snow outside. Despite the cold weather, everyone felt warm both inside and out.
The doorbell rang.
Ovelia stood, her extra velvet robes (for warmth) following her fluid motions as she walked to the door. "I'll get it," she sang, and turned the knob.
She was growing up so fast, Eve thought, and smiled.
The door flung open, freezingly-cold gusts blowing into Eve's warm living room. Ovelia squealed and went to close it, but noticed someone standing there. It was a tan man completely covered in a black robe, looking almost frozen with ice.
"Oh my gosh!" Ovelia exclaimed, and led the poor man into the room, shutting the door behind her. "You look so cold!" She began to brush snow off of the man's robes, trying to look up at his face but seeing only his rigid mouth.
Eve got up and began to help Ovelia, then insisted the man sit down. She was curious to see who he was and why he wasn't at home drinking hot chicken soup. "Er.. do you need anything?" Eve asked, trying to find her sense of hospitality.
The man shook his head slowly. 'Mew watched him, feeling as though he knew this guy. Very well, in fact. As the man sat on their couch by the fire, 'Mew realized the room was getting colder and colder. Eve shivered and poked at the embers in the fireplace as Ovelia took a step closer to the man.
"Are you alright now?" she asked, looking hopeful. The man nodded. This lack of speech puzzled Ovelia, a highly social creature, but she shrugged to herself and sat down beside him. As Eve tried desperately to get the fire lit, Ovelia studied the man. He couldn't be much older than Ovelia, or at least, he didn't seem like it. The room got colder.
"Deus is getting really cold," 'Mew murmured, hiding the fact that he had gone into panda-bear-form just to retain some warmth in his massive rolls of fur. Ovelia scooted a bit closer to the man and noticed his robes were of the same type of velvet as her own. She felt a warmth in her heart, like fire, burning a little hotter as she moved even closer on the couch to him. She had never felt it before, and it excited her.
"I'm gonna go check on the furnace," Eve grumbled, and disappeared into the basement. 'Mew and 'Deus scampered after her, cold and trembling. Ovelia watched them leave, then stared back up the man's hooded face. Through the shadows she could barely see him, but she knew he looked familiar.
"Who are you?" she whispered, her large emerald eyes gazing up at him. Something had gripped her heart, and now it wouldn't let go.
The man tilted his head, letting his hood slide down the back of his head, revealing his stiff, wooden features and his jet-black, almost painted-on hair. Ovelia recognized him instantly. Boy, that puppet had grown.
Without a word he stood, the creaking of his knees audible as he took Ovelia in his arms, hoisted her over his shoulder, and disappeared out the door-- slamming it behind him. 'Mew ran upstairs to see what the commotion was--Ovelia had obviously been yelling-- but they were already gone, out into the snowy night.

"Eve! EVE!" 'Mew roared, his huge bear form meandering down the basement stairs.
"What?" Eve asked, dropping the wrench she had been using to fix the furnace.
"Ovelia's gone!" he cried, and in a poof of gray he turned into his smaller cat form and darted back up the stairs, panicking.
"WHY did I trust a stranger?!" Eve groaned, and ran up the stairs, 'Deus following cluelessly behind her. As she made her way into the living room, the cold gusts of wind hit her. "God it's cold!" she yelled, and 'Mew heaved himself into the door, closing it.
'Mew and Eve spent a moment putting on their heavy gear before running out into the bleak weather to look for Ovelia. 'Mew found himself easily traversing the ice and snow but Eve had a harder time. An hour passed, and no sign of Ovelia turned up. The snowfall had covered their tracks.
"We have to try again tomorrow, when the snow stops," Eve called to 'Mew, and they both returned home, heavy-hearted. That night, the house had never seemed so empty.

It was cold and dark when Ovelia awoke. For a few moments she lay, panicking, the events of the night before slowly coming back to her. The puppet-man, the snow, the bright lights, the injection...
Ovelia sat up in a cold sweat, afraid of what she might see if the lights had been on. She deftly stood, silently, and reached out for a wall-- if she could find a doorknob, she'd fling it open and run for her life.
She had no such luck. "Hello?" she called, hesitantly, not really wanting anyone to answer. A light flickered on, and the small room she was in revealed itself. Tiny, carpeted, windowless. She sighed and sat back on her bed. Apparently, there was no door either.

Dear Journal,
I'm beginning to think, after a week, that the whole time Ovelia was here was just a daydream. I'm not sure if I should even keep searching. Or maybe the puppet took Ovelia back to the Mysterian World-- maybe they needed her. Or maybe she's being tortured-- maybe she's dead! Can Mysterians even die?
I'd rather not find out.
I can't help but keep looking.

It was impossible for Ovelia to tell what time of day it was, what day it was, or how long she had been trapped in that room. She could hear curiously squeaky footsteps every once in a while, and despite the fear she should've felt, she wanted to get out and she had never felt more determined.
"Hello?" she called one day, as she heard the steps again. She stood up and felt around the wood-panelled walls, searching for an opening. No one replied to her, but suddenly her lights went out. She looked down, and could see a trickle of light coming from under the wall. That must be a hidden door...
The light went out seconds after, but Ovelia had the spot ingrained into her memory. Blinded by the pure darkness, she reached forward, put her hands to the door, and summoned up her strength. Light was her power. Maybe in the darkness, her power would grow stronger.
She released a bolt of light, sending the artifical wall flying back into more darkness. However, the momentary flash of light revealed a hallway, bleak and objectless. She heard a man's voice, some sort of a sound-- a cross between a grunt and a startled cry-- and quickly ran in the opposite direction. She did not want to fight in the dark.
She ran and ran, trying to clear her head so she could make her hands into flashlights, but the curiousity was gone and replaced with fear. The fear kept her from doing much but run. Her legs slowly began to feel like jelly. I can't keep running...
BAM!
Ovelia ran headfirst into either a wall or a door, but it hurt just the same. She turned around and didn't see any sign of the puppet, so she took a moment to regain her composure. It's okay, he's just a piece of wood. He'd never stand a chance against a lit match!
As Ovelia tried to make herself feel more in control, the puppet had already come up right behind her-- he could see perfectly in the dark, for it was his element. Ovelia stood up and began to feel the wall, searching for a doorknob. "Where is it..." she mumbled, absent-mindedly.
"This is a dead-end."

Eve and 'Mew went out, embracing the cold weather. Their combined determination to hunt Ovelia down finally brought them to leave their home and search for clues to finding their kidnapped friend. It had taken some severe persuasion to force Eve to realize Ovelia had not been a dream-- she was real, and 'Mew knew it, and he had spent the entire day before trying to prove it to her. It wasn't until 'Mew came across a picture they had taken of Ovelia as a baby that got her to believe him.
"Hurry," Eve called back to 'Mew, and they rushed through the storm. "Let's take my car. It's too cold to look around, and I'm sure they're long gone by now." 'Mew nodded and they both squeezed into her little car and Eve cranked the heat. "Thank goodness for heating."
They spent hours driving around, not sure what to search for but searching nonetheless. It seemed so futile. They had nothing to go by to find their friend and even after just an hour, Eve was finding herself driving back home.
"Let's just go home, Mew," sighed Eve, and 'Mew solemnly stared at the dashboard.
"I really miss her." 'Mew looked up slowly, over the hood of the car, and watched as their home came closer-- a little place surrounded by tall apartment buildings. He stared up, up at one of the higher windows a few stories above their home, and noticed someone looking out the window back at him. He sat up, squinted, and the figure disappeared into darkness.
"Eve... we have to go in there," 'Mew said, his eyes locked on the window. Eve pulled into their driveway and got out of the car, immediately clapping her hands around herself and shivering.
"Where?" she asked, trying to see where 'Mew was staring. He dashed forward, down the sidewalk, and pawed at the door. Eve rolled her eyes, followed, and opened the door. "What's up?"
"I saw him! He's been right here the whole time," he growled, and rushed into the dark, barren building.
"This place is abandoned," Eve mentioned, a bit too cowardly to venture too far into the empty room. "There is no one here."
"Just come with me!" he demanded, and in a poof of smoke he became a large, burly figure. Eve rarely saw him transform like that, and she knew he was serious.
"Okay," she mumbled, and they dashed up the stairs, unaware of what was to come.

The stairs were cold, metal, and slightly damp-- like a fire escape. Eve and 'Mew's shoes and claws clanged against each step and it echoed eerily through the emptiness. They soon came to a flat area with a door, and they took the opportunity to rest. "Is this the right door?" Eve asked.
'Mew shook his head. "The window was at least 2 stories higher." Eve groaned unhappily and they continued up the stairs, two more stories, until they reached a final door. It was stained with some unknown substance and seemed to be ready to fall off the hinges. 'Mew picked it up and set it aside easily, raising a brow. "This place is falling apart..."
The duo stepped hesitantly inside, the smell of something terrible greeting their nostrils. "Hello?" called Eve, "Ovelia? Are you in there?"
No one replied, but a soft sound could be heard.
They walked into the dark, a lone window at the end of the hall lighting up the area just enough to keep the two from walking into each other. They felt along the walls, searching for a door.
It began to seem like a wild goose chase until Eve stumbled into a new room she hadn't noticed before-- completely dark, and full of muffled sound. "Ovelia?"
A voice became louder at the mention of her name. Eve beat on the walls of the room, unable to find another door. "Are you here?"
Suddenly, a blast of light lit up the other side of the wall. Eve looked down and realized there was a slit of light near the edge of the wall-- it must've been a hidden door! She ran up to it and threw herself against the wall, but it barely budged. "'Mew! Hurry! Come here!"
'Mew came charging in. "What? What??"
"Hit that part of the wall!"
'Mew looked at her as if she was nuts, but she pointed frantically at it until he gave in and heaved his heavy body against the door. It flew off its rusty hinges and into pure darkness. A cry was heard.
"Ovelia?!" 'Mew and Eve shouted in unison.
Out of the darkness came a bright light, emanating from Ovelia. It blinded the two, but they could see Ovelia was not alone. Sitting next to her was the puppet, only... the two of them were kissing!
'Mew spat and made vomit-faces as Eve stared in disbelief.
"WHAT is going ON?" screamed Eve, and Ovelia broke her gentle kiss with the puppet to smile and shrug.
"I love him."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The house was warm. 'Deus laid beside the Christmas tree, tired out from chasing ornaments around the living room. 'Mew sat on the sofa with a cup of hot chocolate and a stuffy nose-- the cold weather had given him a slight cold. Eve sat on the far end of the couch, legs crossed, head on fist as she watched Ovelia and the puppet perform public displays of affection.
"Merry f#%$ing Christmas," mumbled Eve under her breath.
Dear Journal,
Ovelia isn't as strong-willed as I thought. The puppet easily made her fall in love with him even after kidnapping her once. I don't know what's wrong with her! I'm hoping she'll snap out of it soon-- as of now I don't want to do or say anything that may make her leave...
It was another bitterly cold winter evening. Eve was quickly getting tired of them. As she sat by her tiny fireplace and skimmed through a novel she had read many times before, she could hear Ovelia's giddy voice mixed with the puppet's deep one as they put on enough robes to leave the house in. Too good for coats, Eve thought sourly. She shook her head. Love was just another thing teens had to go through-- she knew all about that. It was just a phase.
"Bye Eve!" Ovelia managed to call before fluttering out the door, her jewelry and hair looking much shinier than usual. All alone again, Eve sighed. 'Mew sensed her frustration from across the room and slinked over, lying in her lap cutely.
"Pet me," he demanded, giving her the sweetest smile he could muster.
Eve rolled her eyes, smiled back, and ran her fingers through his soft fur. "Thanks Mew."
The peaceful harmony between light and dark in Eve's household quickly faded into the abyss.
"What's wrong?" Eve asked Ovelia, as she walked by her room and found her crying.
"I don't know, I just hate being here!" she cried, and held her face in her hands.
Eve looked taken aback, and frowned. "You... don't have to live here... I guess..." she murmured, feeling her own eyes tingling a little.
"I could move out and live with Sk-- I mean... the puppet?"
Eve raised a brow, then shrugged hopelessly. "Whatever you want, Ovelia. I'm not your mother. I'm not nearly old enough, wise enough... or strong enough." She turned and left the room, staring off into space.
Ovelia grinned wickedly before passing out, and a black, smoke-ish figure formed out of her ears, eyes, and mouth. It floated in the air for a moment before lowering itself down on the other side of her bed-- into the puppet, who lay dormant on the rug.
As his spirit reentered his own body, he stood up, cracked his neck, and sat beside Ovelia's sleeping body. "Sorry I had to do that, 'love."
Ovelia stood, looking confused and weary, as she held her baggage loosely and teetered a bit as the puppet piled her robes over her shoulder. "We'll be out of here soon," he said, no emotion in his voice. Eve and 'Mew watched, hopelessly, wishing she'd drop everything and stay.
"Are you sure you want to go?" Eve offered, as a last plea.
The puppet gently put a hand on Ovelia's back, and she nodded quickly after a moment of hesitation. Eve could see she didn't want to go. How could she stop her?
The puppet left the house and walked out into the snowy air. He had no transportation, and he expected Ovelia to walk. Ovelia sighed, turned to Eve, and stepped closer-- she gave her a loving hug and whispered "I'll be back."
The two of them set off, to live in the dusty old abandoned building Ovelia had once been held in against her will. "You'll have all the freedom a teenager seeks," the puppet told her, and held her close, as if he loved her.
