He was weak still, so much that he couldn’t lift the arm higher than his waist. Jordan was burning energy that he simply didn’t have and it was showing as Victor patted his arm. Listening to him, he lowered the arm and nodded silently in understanding. He just wanted to help, but he had to think about getting well before he could help anyone in a constructive manner. The dogman wheeled him backwards a bit to allow Victor to fill in his space. He watched them rally to help one of their own. Was this what really mattered after all was said and done? That bond that united them to help one another. This was a new sight for Jordan. He’d never seen this compassion on the island thus far and it was stirring with inspiration.
“Sorry I couldn’t do more..” he felt the need to apologize for his lack of usefulness in his current state. “Let me know if there’s something I can do.” Jordan fell silent still trying to catch his breath. Damn those bruised, once-broken, ribs making it harder to breathe.

"Can you?" Nita asked Tommy, clearly surprised. She had always thought of bats as such fragile things, but if he was sure... She motioned for Marshall to help her with Gaius' wings, one hand still positioned under his head.
"Okay," she said, meeting all of their eyes. "On three. One.. Two.. Push!"

Most of the food had thankfully landed beside Gaius, though bits and pieces had managed to get into his hair and shirt.
It was like lifting a dead weight as the others worked to haul him up. Limbs and neck flopped limply as he rolled up onto his side, his wings making particular trouble as they fell limply behind him.

He’d found Victor and it seemed they had everything under control here. He wanted to wait around longer, to talk with them, to bond with others afflicted with the changes, but he was feeling the need for his pain meds that were sitting on his desk back home. After that unwise moment of straining his body to help Gaius, his body ached more than ever, but he wasn’t going to let them worry about him. He was already behind them, so he wheeled himself slowly to the exit, wincing as he did. He’d been so afraid to go outside, but he had sought out Victor in the very fear that wanted to keep him isolated. He hadn’t been attacked as he believed and he was. He wasn’t convinced he was safe yet.. but he needed to do this on his own, for his own good. With a sighing breath, he left their company. There’d be other times to socialize. Right now, he needed a long vicodin-induced nap.

Victor gave a huff of effort as he helped roll Gaius over, and backed up and out of the way of the others as he gave a sigh, looking at the horseman's unconscious body, then back to everyone else, standing out of the way, while looking around for Jordan...who had just left.

As Marshall helped out Gaius, he spoke to Nita in a surprisingly calm, mature voice, "...You know...I deserve to hear the full story. I realize that its mostly just between you and Gaius, but...Gaius is the closest thing on this island I have to family...So the second he's in the infirmary...I want to hear every thing, okay?" Marshall said, before some how managing to support Gaius just a very little bit on his shoulder.
"OW! Okay, y'know what Gaius?! I take back what I said earlier! You are getting fat! Erg...Heavy..."

With a great heave, Tommy did his best to help flip Gaius over...and for once he was not envious of the Pegasus' back wings. I bet that'll hurt like a b***h when he wakes up, he thought to himself as he backed away from the now face-up Gaius. "Christ..." he muttered out, wiping a wing over his forehead. It was then that he finally took the moment to look around...realizing for the first time that one of the people helping him was the first islander he ever saw.
"...hey Nita," he said cautiously, "It's ah...it's Tommy."

It was a good thing Newt had been too shocked by the sudden following events to register Jordan's entrance and exit- it had been a long time since he had seen what had seemed originally like a doggy satyr, and he was more preoccupied by Gaius's sudden situation. Upon Nita's attempted explanation, the frog glanced between the fallen horse and the riled panda. "H-h-he... wh-why... ah...! Wh-wh-what did... wh-what happened?? What did he do??" He croaked once the others seemed to handle the fallen horse. A buzzing meant the labs, and he must have done something to upset them, he reasoned, but he couldn't for the life of him figure out what could have happened. He had just been sitting there!

With Gaius successfully turned onto his back, Nita let herself sit back on the floor, carefully avoiding a pile of salsa. She turned to the bat-man, surprised to hear her name. "Tommy?" she repeated, eyes growing wide. The only time they'd ever met was back when Tommy had just arrived. And now...
"Jesus. Wow, it's uh, it's been awhile, I guess." Nita's glance flicked to Newt. She must have missed him in the middle of all the commotion. Nita rubbed her face and habitually shoved her hair out of her eyes. In spite of the air-conditioning in the cafeteria, it was uncomfortably warm. Stupid fur.
"Thanks guys," she said, fidgeting with the edge of Gaius' closest wing. "He should wake up soon... Once I leave.
"Long story short... Gaius and Zach are being kept away from each other. If they get within twenty-five feet, Gaius gets buzzed out. And Dr. Duvert put the same restriction on me." She sighed softly. "I should have known he'd be here, Marshall. I wasn't thinking."

"...I'm not mad at you...And...I'm sorry this...Happened." Marshall sighed, picking a glob of guacamole out of Gaius' beard.
"Any idea how long this...Punishment will keep going? 'Cause maybe once its over...I can try having a real birthday party. With every one." Marshall said, clearly trying to hide his disappointment over how the entire day had gone.

Tommy just nodded, knowing that this probably wasn't the best time to catch up on things. He gave a small sigh and bat-walked away. He was hoping for a 'normal' afternoon...s**t, he got up mid-way through his sleep schedule just to be here. Ah well. He plopped himself down on a chair and wrapped his wings about himself as he watched the goings on.

"It... ah... y-you... um... I coo-coo-could have... I'll make you something," Newt urged to Marshall anxiously, but hop-hobbled closer to try to get a better look at the comatose Gaius. "Wh-wh-why would he... Er... D-dr.. " He didn't want to say the name, nervously rubbing the faint remnants of the permanent marker markings on his pale stomach and the memory of the French man taking a good taste of his legs. No need to get his attention by mentioning him. "Wh-why would he... involve y-you?" With a blink, it seemed the scar-nosed frog-man was really that naive.

Nita attempted a smile at Newt. "Something about 'driving the lesson home'," she said. "Because Gaius and I... Well, I dunno really what we are. Not dating, exactly, but..." The girl shrugged her rounded, furry shoulders.
"And I've got no idea how long it's going to go on. It's already been several weeks, and I've barely been able to even talk to him." Her voice got a bit louder with her frustration. "My own birthday's in a couple of weeks, too. I'm really sorry I messed up your party. I brought you a present and everything..." Nita sighed and shook her head. "I should just go."

Marshall remained silent. His expression was blank as he stared down at Gaius, still on his scaly knees. "...Damnit...God d-damnit..." he said, his expression going from blank to just...angry. "Why...Why did this s**t have to happen!? WHY THE HELL COULDN'T I JUST HAVE A BIRTHDAY, HUH?! WHY?! AM I ASKING TOO MUCH FOR THAT?!" he yelled, "I MEAN, I GAVE UP MY ******** HANDS, I GAVE UP MY FACE...WHAT THE ******** DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?!" he yelled, before bursting into tears.
Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday to you...

Nita's ears flattened against the sudden outburst. "Shhh, Marshall, it's okay. It's not your fault. I'm so sorry." She rose to her knees and gave Marshall a hug, gently patting the sleek feathers on his back.
