Red- I'm not going to attack your beliefs, just so you know, but you do realise that many other forms of the Christian faith believe that the Catholics have it wrong, and (I know this next part is false, my husband was raised Catholic) many other Christians believe that Catholics "worship" the Virgin Mary? I've never understood why they think this, it's obviously not fact. neutral
I have come across this many times. We catholics do not worship Mary, Jesus' mother. We ask her help, to pray for us, to Gof, or Jesus, to help us, just like we ask help from saints. we do not worship saints. I think the reason people think that way is because many believe that if you pray to someone, it means that you worship them, but that is not true.

You do realise that you just repeated what I said here, right?

And as to the Piers Anthony books, I hope you do get a chance and are able to find the Incarnations series (books 6 & 7 being the most difficult to find in my area). I actually have re-collected all but the first book of the series.

ok
when i was little i went to a day care where they taught us about the holy trinity thing
jesus holy ghost and god all same person right?
what i always wondered was...if jesus came to earth and he's supposed to be god
why would he say how god told him to do this and that
it be like he was telling himself what to do...
hope that makes more sense sweatdrop
harrd to explain... I myself can not explain this, as I am still learning...

The Holy Trinity just means that the three were all parts of the whole. The whole being God. Jesus was the form of God who came to earth. I've never fully understood the Holy Ghost part. God being the part that is and always has been in Heaven.

Many bible huggers use their religion as a crutch to walk through life on, they depend too much on it and most of the time it leads to feeling disappointed. When they ask why bad things happen, "God works in mysterious ways" or "Some questions are better left unanswered" gets thrown in their face; when half your family dies off in less than a year and you were praying to God every night and doing everything a good christian could do and nothing was getting better, that sort of stuff isn't what you want to hear, you want to know why, exactly and to the point.

And this is why I am where I am today.

I'm not proud of it, but I was homeless for about 6 months of my life. And where we were staying was across from, well, I'll just say it, across from Oral Roberts University. We had a lot of so-called Christians just pass us by, as if putting money in the donation platter had been enough, giving money to those damned giant golden praying hands was enough for them to "buy" a place in Heaven.
Though I prayed most every night for a sign, for some way out of the mess I was in...my answers kept driving right by in their nice, expensive cars, and their pretty Sunday best clothes, too wrapped up in their own lives to see someone in need.

So you can understand from this why I'd be a little jaded towards certain forms of Christianity...the ones who appear to be in need are the ones who help others the most. There almost isn't "God" in religion anymore, not for some people...for them it's more about greed than God.

I'll admit there are still good people out there, Christian or not, and I do not, and never will believe that you have to go to one certain place on a particular day to celebrate your faith. There is no need to wait until Sunday, though that typically is the day of rest and the day of worship...there's no need to wait until bedtime.
If you truly believe, then you should hold that belief always, not jsut pray at bedtime or on Sunday in church.

Whoa......tangent....sorry people. sweatdrop

Okay, I found an explanation of the Holy Ghost:

Quote:

The HOLY GHOST

The HOLY SPIRIT

The third person of the Trinity, who exercises the power of The Father and The Son in creation and redemption. Because the Holy Spirit is the power by which believers come to Christ and see with new eyes of faith, He is closer to us than we are to ourselves. Like the eyes of the body through which we see physical things, He is seldom in focus to be seen directly because He is the one through whom all else is seen in a new light. This explains why the relationship of The Father and The Son is more prominent in the Gospels, because it is through the eyes of the Holy Spirit that Father - Son relationship is viewed. The Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are unified in ministering to believers.

as I have rpeviously said, church is not just for praying, but rather a place where you can find peers who have the same belief, who are(most of the time) there to help you.

But I found that in my friends. None of us go to church at all, except funerals & weddings.

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: By the power of the Holy Spirit, he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. I believe in the one holy catholic and apostolic church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Okay. So
Religion is just a fabricated set of rules to control people's lives.
Which was said by Sky-sama
Could not be said any better.
That should be the definition of religion.
Sky-sama- You are amazing.

I don't believe in any religion.

I believe that religion is something to keep people occupied
so that they don't find out about all the things the government is trying to hide.

Like aliens.

And Red-
If you say I'm going to hell, I don't believe you.
Nor do I believe in hell.
I have many words for you that I will not say.
But that's just because Twistd said to be nice in here 3nodding
