I should have swordsman research just before my nublet protection runs out this evening. After that, I'm torn between upping my cranny and creating troops. -- Right, so, out of protection now. crying Status: All fields at level 3. 60/hr for Iron, Lumber and Clay. -2 for Wheat. ninja Buildings: Main Building level 3 Warehouse level 2 Granary level 1 Cranny level 6 Palisade level 1 Barracks level 3 Academy level 3 Blacksmith level 1 Embassy level 1 Research: Swordsman (building) -- Interesting...

More problems from [$$$].
This time, it is a douchebag by the name of Kgattitude. He has raided me twice, and will most likely keep doing it.
I've sent messages to both him and his clan leader, but no word on if that will stop him.

Wood - 45/hr > 4 @ Level 2
Clay - 45/hr > 4 @ Level 2
Iron - 45/hr > 4 @ Level 2
Wheat - 74/hr > 6 @ Level 4
Level 6 - Cranny Level 5 - Main Building Level 3 - Academy, Barracks Level 2 - Trapper Level 1 - Blacksmith, Embassy, Granary, Marketplace, Palisade, Rally
Point, Warehouse
20 Traps 04 Phalanx - Sent to Alexi as Reinforcements
I'm fairly certain that I'm out of nubletprot by now. I've looked at the map of my immediate environs and there's only one city that's anywhere near the size of mine, so I doubt I'll be attacked anytime soon. I punched my Cache up to 720 per resource this morning. Tonight I'll have the resources to start the Swordsman research; when that's done I'll build 5 to hold as defenders.
And then I'm going to resume cycling my fields upwards, as it's starting to look like some of you are going to need care packages sometime soon. sad My merchants move fast and won't leave me with lingering maintenance costs, so sending resources rather than troops is likely the way to rock it. I'm hoping tha tthe assholes bothering Will will go the ******** away, though. I know how annoying it is to be hit repeatedly. It's why I stopped playing Planetarion, way back when.

Most way through today I'll be starting my Axeman upgrade. I've checked stats, and they are far and away the best assault troops anyone will have anytime soon. If I can get a reasonable number of them, then I can probably respond to [$$$] without making us look like fools. I'm going to stomp poor village into the dirt first, so we'll see how that goes.

Dude, don't attack them. They are pretty close-knit, and two of their heavy-hitters are spitting distance from me. We'll get cheesed* if we attack them. * Cheesed- Like getting creamed, but it goes on much longer.

That's the problem. We have to stick our necks out. Let's see if we can get some troops out to you, maybe I can convince Arc to send you some men or something. I'd throw my weight around, but it's a long, long, LONG walk, and right now, I have a little vendetta. evil That, and you want me to keep away. Odd.

Odd. 10-15 defenders, plus a full barrage of traps if you're a Gaul, and you can convince them to find better targets. A bigger cache, so that they stop -getting- anything. I'm too damned far away to help much. Given the size of their group, offense is a bad response when they can retaliate en masse. sad I've not been messed with as yet, but even the most persistant attack will get damned little given how much of what I have can be protected. My cache is rated at 1200 units; even the Teutonic forces can't touch me if I've less than 792 units (they have an ability that reduces your cache protection to 66%). Yes, it's a primarily defensive style, but I'm still gearing up my production and have been stepping up my cache to match. I will be switching to a more offensive stance eventually, but I've a lot I want to build up first.

I suspect you can get your wheat production down to borderline +2 or 3, and maintain active development through raiding. I'm not sure yet, but basically, when raiding inactives, if they have roughly equal incomes of each type (usually, they do), you'll end up getting roughly equal amounts. Bally already pointed out that wheat is needed much less than the others, so the amount gained from small raiding seems to tide people over quite well.

Population: 99
Wood: 60/hr > 2 @ Level 3 > 2 @ Level 2
Clay: 60/hr > 2 @ Level 3 > 2 @ Level 2
Iron: 60/hr > 2 @ Level 3 > 2 @ Level 2
Wheat: 77/hr > 1 @ Level 5 > 5 @ Level 4
Level 8: Cranny (1200 hidden) Level 5: Main Building Level 3: Academy, Barracks Level 2: Granary (1700), Trapper, Warehouse (1700) Level 1: Blacksmith, Embassy, Marketplace, Palisade, Rally Point
04 Phalanx - Sent to Alexi as Reinforcements
Defense: 20 Traps 03 Phalanx (3 more intended)
Intended build path: The other 3 phalanx units, followed by 5 Swordsmen. There are nearby abandoned villages that I can be raping annexing for additional resources. There only seem to be 2 or 3 other 'in use' villages, all smaller than mine.
Once my five raiders are built, the Cranny is getting boosted to Level 10, then my fields get completely brought up to Level 3. The sloped production was useful, very useful, but it's time to level it off.
EDIT: *frown* Alexi? Did you send the Phalanxes back? Suddenly I seem to have a bunch of them on hand. o.o Or does the 'reinforcement' checkbox not do what I expected? 'm so very confused...

By midnight tonight I intend to begin research on Thunder. This should allow my effective raiding distance to increase from my centered minimap to perhaps twice that range. Then after I've built a few, and let my resources build up again, (probably by Thursday) I intend to research Druid-riders. Then I can start producing the best infantry defense the game has to offer. If you're still getting hammered on at that point, Will (or anyone) give me a holler. They're mounted so they'll get to you pretty quick too (16 fields/hr which is over doublespeed, compared to a Phalanx's 7). Following that, I'm not sure what my next quasi-long-term goal should be. confused Also: Is it less convenient for you if I post updates of progress in my first page post/would you prefer I post them here at the end of the line? Also: Worth noting is that I've been finding the marketplace extremely useful. Many of my raids end up with assymmetrical goods returns (e.g. 304 wood 167 clay 143 iron 16 grain), so in order to help balance my load and keep within cranny protection/warehouse storage limits, I'm been finding some reasonable trades to help distribute the load. I may need to build more merchants in the future. Also: I am such a nice guy/sucker. fanboy97 Balcerzak fanboy97 Balcerzak fanboy97 Are you not going to leave me alone? Well, raiding other players for resources is one of the best ways to earn income. I'll consider a compromise, though, give you a couple days to build up your cranny? I'd hate to drive a player completely from the game. well just let me figure out this military stuff, it just sucks coming to find all my stuff gone. Very understandable. To be honest, I have no real way of knowing who all around me is still active. I've tried looking at the map occasionally to see if population changes, but that's guesswork at best. I'll try to stick to raiding people who've probably already quit. I can't make any firm promises though on how long it will be before I check you out again, but I'll do my best to remember and hold off for a couple days, at least. thanks

I don't think I can actually do that, Ellie. I certainly didn't mean to, if I did. But all I've got watching over my stuff is five axemen and a maceman right now. At least, that's what it tells me. In fact, I never saw them show up. confused
