Okay, how about this for obsessive watching.
Batman Returns (I think. The one with catwoman and the penguin) There is a masquerade scene, everyone but Bruce and Catwoman in a costume. They dance a bit, and they go past some stairs. On the stairs is someone dressed in a big red outfit with a fedora. The fedora has a big red feather in it. On the man's face is a skull mask. It's hard to catch, but it's in the right side of the screen.

In the musical Les Miserables, a couple of guys are making fun of another guy who is falling in love with a girl and they say (or rather sing): "You talk of battles to be won, and here he comes like Don Juan, It's better than an opera." for some reason it just reminds of Phantom.

In the episode 'Supermodel' in Aquateen Hunger Force, Frylock is going on a date, and meatwad gives him the phantom mask to go along with his fire-fighter's coat.
Meatwad: Here. *gives mask* Say your face was burnt off in a fire. Play the pity card.

Hoshit. That's awesome. O_O If I ever had a boy with a facial disfigurement, I'd name him Erik and make ihm take French class, too.

Cloth Roses Well, this is more of a Michael Crawford reference, and is specially to Youko-chan. I happen to be living an MC episode, because I found out today my mother has a hernia and has to have surgery. *cry*
...that reminds me. My friend, Nettie, got this big DVD full of Weird Al music videos for me... one of which was "Living With a Hernia."
...I think that is my new favourite song. I cried from laughing so hard. o_o

Was watching an old Dr. Who episode(probably from the late 70's) on PBS the other night. The villian of the show was a genuis builder whose face(and body) were deformed in an accident so he went to hide in caves underneath wearing a mask and watching over his enemies plans in secret.
Along comes Dr. Who and Perry, his lovely assitant. They are captured and the Villian sees Perry's beauty and decides he must kidnap her and keep her with him in his underground "kingdom"
My friend turned to me and we both said right away, "Phantom"

If I choose Christine as my French name (I'm still deciding) and some pretty-boy chooses the name Raoul and Erik keeps his own name.

I'd probably trying to control myself enough so that I wouldn't jump him, loudly profess my love over and over again, and possibly drag him into bed. Heh. Just kidding about that last part. Anyway, Leroux!Erik isn't too unlike that, actually. He's not exactly friendly, more like shy most of the time, and crazy the rest of the time, but he is a rather quiet type of person. I think before he starts flipping out on Christine, and after, he seems like a really shy, sweet guy. And, Deadly, you're right. I do need to marry Leroux!Erik. Seriously. I fantasize about it every night. He is just my kind of guy.
