Ah, man... right before my very first football game this year, my first field show ever, I set my hat and jacket down on a chair in the band room, went to get my clarinet, came back... and couldn't tell which hat and jacket was mine. sweatdrop I had to get my [ridiculously cute] sophomore buddy to help me look for it. It was awful.

Just today I said, walking with my flute and alto sax friends while waiting for the auditorium to be set up (BD wouldn't let us do it. o.O) and I said--with a mouth full of Twizzlers--"I'm so bored. I want to play." and the flute, she's all "So do I," and the sax nods, and then I said "We need to find a clarinet/flute/sex trio and play it--" and then I burst out laughing. xd Then I yelled out "STUPID TWIZZLERS!" xp

This is my first year in band, and on the VERY second game, it was my turn to march--I had the misfortune of being chosen as an alternate. We switch out with another person who has the same spot. HUGE waste of time. Anyway, earlier that week I had sprained my ankle, but by Friday I was healed. I wasn't going to march the show after all, but as I was going down the stands to stand on the sideline, I slipped and fell down the stairs foot first. I got up, and leaning on the railing, nearly passed out, and I couldn't move until two of the band office ladies had to drag me into the bandroom. gonk

During our second competition this year, when the entire band about faces, I did it two beats EARLY, and what's worse is there was a gap on one side of me because one of the other clarinets was missing. stare crying

My most emparassing moment just happened last saturday when I tried out for the Arizona Southcentral Regionals.

I didn't practice the etudes at all until the very last minute outside the audition room because I thought that the music looked easy enough. Well and behold, when I stepped into the room, the guy just told me to play my scales and didn't tell me which ones. So I just played what the last person before me had told me to play, my E, A flat, and chromatic scale. (note: I suck at scales and could barely remember either one)

I guessed on the e scale, made up the A flat scale and forgot how high I could go on the clarinet and ended up having to go back up then down the scale.

Then next came my etudes:

By now, I'm a nervous reck and can barely move my fingers and only played my second etude and skipped the first and third etude and did a total kamikaze on the sight reading.

I came out of that room with a beet red face and was sooo embarassed.

Ok, this one comes new from last week. I was at solo and ensamble contest.

First off, I forgot my music, no big deal, but we have to give it to the judges. Luckily my BD had a copy to give to me.

Second, right before we went on [My ensamble] the instrament I was going to play, walked right off with the group before me. Ok, so I don't get to play I guess? No, I got the Vibes, but we perfomed 5 minutes late.

And during the performance, I skipped 3 lines of my music. gonk

We are still going to state, though.

during a concert...my foot joint to my flute just slips off in the middle of the conductor's speech...(open hole flute, somereason made wrong, foot joint too heavy) and it fell so loudly, everybody stared, and people started laughing...it was upber formal before that too.

then there was a day or so befre...or told my conductor i wont be able to make the concert (piccolo) and he got mad. the next day, he tells the entire band we won't be able to play a favorite peice be cause a special someone is not able to go. and then he stares at me..and so does everyone else. kyaa!! scary.

It's so scary when a BD singles you out. gonk crying Mine kept doing that out during practice on the field. I was in the right spot and he kept telling me to move around, and finally he's like "Okay...nevermind. You were right." on loudspeaker. xp Even the assistant director got on my case...but that time I actually WAS off. whee

so going up the stairs my boyfriend turns to me and goes, 'you know, the BD heard you? he asked me if you are always like that...' redface oops...my bad...

I was changing in the drummers room during marching into black shorts for after school practice. Just as I slip off my pants, a guy opens the door. I can hear people in the background going "NO!" we look at eachother and stupidly in a blonde moment of mine, I think, "wow, he's cute." not realizing I was in the process of changing. Once he see's me he turns as red as a cherry. I do too once I remember what I was doing. He quickly turned around and walked out. I was so embarassed! xp redface

It's not mine, but...

We were at our concert/festival (but didn't get rated) and the trumpets started speeding up and TOTALLY ruined the whole piece and Howie (BD) yelled at them later, but I right in the center and all I could see was Howie tring to keep calm. There was one trumpet that got reall embarrased because it was mainly him and he turned cherry red.

In my section, we have a tradition that we all start to swap places during a parade. So, the tuba guy next to me asked my if I wanted to swap places with him. So I said yes and right as we started swaping my bd cought us and told us that if he sees the tubas swap again, he would leave us next parade. redface I was so sad. Then, all the upper classmen were looking at me with anger in there eyes. redface

Heh, I remember way back in 6th grade when I sucked at playing my clarinet. Everytime our BD asked me to play by myself, my clarinet would squeak. My friends described it as a sound similar to a dying cow.

This wasn't my embarassing moment, but I still found it pretty funny. There was a kid in my grade that joined band and played the Tenor Sax, and he told the new band director that he had been in it the year before when he hadn't. So, he really sucked needless to say. Well, one day in a different class (Career Discovery) he decides to do his lesson plan on how to play the saxophone. So, I'm sitting there across the hall in a different class(reading), hear this really loud squeaking sound that sounds like a scale, so our reading teacher leaves the class, pokes her head into the other room, and asks the other teacher if somethings dieing in there. So, it was embarassing for me, but everyone else got a kick out of it.
