On a somewhat off-topic note, according to Wikipedia, Fount of All Knowledge, 'alpha' is the usual term for what we call a 'gamma'. Huh.
...I confess I like 'gamma' more, for...various, far-too-vague-to-try-to-explain reasons.

I'm used to the term gamma. When I see alpha, I see think of lead wolf.
Beta only covers half of what the guild is about. Perhaps, we can find a term that encompasses both the beta and the gamma.

The 'Omega'?
Actually, no, the second to last, psi would make more sense, but it's nowhere near as catchy. Although, I suppose the world as your audience is already omega...
I like omicron. I also like epsilon, theta and sigma.
Delta would make sense too, if you're talking about teams of beta and gamma.
