"Oh!" Serenity smiled. "You're going to make a nest for the bird ... that's good! Then it can be warm and safe."
She paused, then asked thoughtfully, "Do you think that it might be hungry?"

Skye looked up from her work and blinked at Serenity. She knew her sister had been talking to her, but she hadn't felt the vibrations very clearly - it was difficult when she was moving. She blinked at her again, then returned to her weaving.

Serenity leaned back against the tree and stroked the tiny bird with her index finger. It was soft, yes ... very soft. And it was peeping quite loudly. But if it was hungry, then what should she feed it?
She wondered what kind of bird it was. Perhaps she would ask Mommy when she came to get them. Or Celebor ... if he ever found them.
She blinked. Oops ... she had forgotten about Celebor. She giggled.

Celebor meanwhile was going in circles, desperately searching for his sisters. He was getting worried about them - what if they had gotten lost? What if something had happened to them? What if Mommy came back and he still hadn't found them? What would she say? She would be so disappointed in him, she had left him in charge of them to take care of them!
He felt himself starting to panic and took several deep breaths to calm himself. He counted to five (one three ten four two eight five) and then kept looking.

Skye finished the nest/basket quickly and held it up proudly to show Serenity. It was about the size of a real nest, perhaps about the size of their Mommy's palm, and it was nice and neatly woven to resemble the shape but without the random points sticking out every which way.
"Aw done!" she said happily, her wings fluttering a bit. She poked around the inside of it a bit and decided that it wasn't soft enough. She started looking around for softer things to put inside ...

"Good for you, Skye!" Serenity cheered, careful not to upset the bird in her hands. "But what are you doing now?" She cocked her head curiously.

Skye giggled, she recognized two of those vibrations!
"Good Skye!" she squealed, clapping her hands. "Good Skye, Skye good," she sang. Her wings fluttered excitedly as she looked around for soft things. Suddenly, she got an idea. She reached around her back and plucked a few feathers from her wings and tucked them into the bottom of the nest.
She herself was just a fledgling, so her feathers were as soft as the baby bird's were. And there was proof enough of that: her bed, Serenity's bed, Celebor's bed, and all their pillows were stuffed with the feathers that had come out of her vase while it had been reacting.

Serenity giggled and gently tucked the bird into the nest. "There!" she smiled. "All better!" She looked up at the tree again. "But how do we get it up in the tree? Maybe we should just leave it here."
Her eyes widened suddenly, and she looked at Skye excitedly. "Maybe Mommy will let us take it home with us!" she exclaimed. "What do you think, Skye?"

"Home! Home!" Skye repeated happily. She pointed at the baby bird that was sitting comfortably in the nest she had made it. "Bird home?" she asked, cocking her head at Serenity curiously.

Serenity giggled again. "Maybe," she nodded. "We'll have to see when Mommy comes to get us."
She looked around a bit. "Where's Celebor?"

Skye blinked. "Ce'bor?" She got up on her tiptoes and looked around, but she couldn't see above the grass that was more than twice her height. She fluttered her wings as hard as she could, but they weren't ready for flight just yet and probably would not be for another growth or two. Instead she cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted, "CEEEEEEEE-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!"

Serenity got to her feet and copied Skye.
"CELEBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!" she hollered as loudly as she could, quite forgetting that they were playing a game and that they were supposed to be hiding.
"CEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-LE-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!"
She cupped one hand behind her ear and cocked her head to listen.

Celebor stopped in his tracks. He heard his name being called ... but from a long way off, and from the direction he had come from.
"Oi," he muttered darkly, turning around. "I was going all the wrong way." He started off towards the voices.

Skye yawned, sleepy. It had been quite an adventurous day for the tiny second, and she was still very new and needed lots of rest. She took the grass mat from Serenity that she had helped her to finish and lay it out on the ground, then laid on it and curled up in a ball. Her wings fluttered gently as she fell into a peaceful sleep.

Serenity sighed as she watched Skye fall asleep. She was kind of tired too, and hungry, since it was approaching dinner time, but she couldn't sleep because the bird was being so noisy. For a moment she wished she were like Skye, unable to hear, but then she realized how much she would be missing out on and took it back.
Ah well, at least she didn't have to worry about waking Skye up if she kept making noise.
She put her hands to her mouth and hollered again. "CELEBOR! WHERE ARE YOU?"
