Quote: "You mean, for hunting?" he asked congenially. It was really none of his business, but precision work was vague. Adan returned the knives he had out quickly, then reached under his desk and plopped a different roll on the counter. He half-unrolled it to show various hunting knives, then retrieved another roll and half-unrolled that. They were sharp, straight knives meant for stabbing people. Well, that was one of their uses. But they were sharp. "I Need it for cutting, I need a strong knife that won't bend or break easily. I also would like it if it could channel a little magic, but not much. It doesn't have to channel, but would be better if it could," Graros answered, in a half specific manner. He was really thinking about what he had just heard, and wondering why a member of the Council would be down here.

*trailind found himself pacing around a back alley. What he was doing there, he hadn't the slightest idea. He paced though, as he did whenever he thought. His eyes cast downward looking at his feet but he was aware of the things around him, as he walked he began to get a bearing on where he might be*

He was really thinking about what he had just heard, and wondering why a member of the Council would be down here. Adan sighed and glanced at the clock on the wall. "You mean, you don't want a piece of s**t?" he asked, tired of the vaguries. "Here." He handed him a simple but stong knife with a curved blade and handle designed to make the most of whatever cutting action you used it for. It was made of a metal that could channel a little, and it hadn't taken Adan long to find it. He told him the price and said, "that's the knife for you."

((I think I'm going to start using orange when I roleplay....)) "That's perfect. Thanks." He replied, smiling grimly. "If you really want to know what I use it for, I have a shop a little ways down, 'Herbs, Flowers, and Potions'. It's self evident what I do." Graros turned around, twitching his left eye. He wanted to recruit the kid for AU, he looked like he could help the revolution. He also felt that he had completely butchered his invitation.

He also felt that he had completely butchered his invitation. Adan crossed his arms and regarded the man suspiciously. "What did you say your name was? and this shop is which way?" Maybe he would check it out later. Except for being annoyed with Graros for being vague, he did seem like a friendly, charasmatic, even if a bit cautious sort of man. His clothes were loose in an open and friendly way, as if he had either nothing or everything to hide but either way he didn't mind making friends. He had talked reasonably to the woman before Graros. Still, maybe he had known her already and just pretended not to. Maybe it was better to try to get him for drinks or something later and get a better feel for him. "...And did you need anything else?" he added.

Penden Adan crossed his arms and regarded the man suspiciously...... Graros was halfway out the door when he turned his head and looked at him. "My name is Graros, and my shop is about three blocks to the left. I don't need anything else now, but I might later. I'll see ya!" Graros continued walking down the street, reaching his own home/shop after what seemed like a forever of walking through crowds. He reopened his shop, and sat at the counter n a short stool among roses. He had to get back to his potions, but he wanted to think first. Maybe the kid would come. He had been curious, after all. With a small sigh, Graros walked into the front lab after putting a "Ring Bell For Service" sign on the door.

Adan watched him leave then, seeing that there was no one else in the store or coming in, he locked the door and flipped the sign: closed. He had certainly recieved enough pay, enough to risk annoying a customer or two until some one came in to relieve him. And really, did his boss have to know about this? He was seriously considering lying about the money paid and the deed done, telling just enough to explain the missing knife.
He went into the store's storage and spent at least an hour picking out an appropriate knife and other things he needed, then left the store (locked) for his own place, which was small but quiet. This way he might lie to his boss later and say that he had been sick. He stopped on his way home to look at Graros' place from a distance. He noted exactly where it was, and decided that he might come back if he finished the knife early.
(should I have him coming back to graros' place towards nightfall? I don't want to jump too far ahead of the other characters)

((About what time is it now? Maybe in about an hour. I'm still all cunfuzzeled and tired, just watched Lemony Snickets A Series Of Unfortunate Events. I *might* edit later. I need something more to work with first. As for nightfall, Graros might be open after shop closes for a more private talk, kind of like a friend-to-friend talk.))

Adan rested for a short while after completing his work. He redressed himself but without a mirror where he lived, he couldn't tell that he still looked tired. He could guess that this was how he looked, so he thanked his lucky stars that dusk was about to fall. By the time he got to Graros' shop he was feeling better any way. He didn't bother hanging back from a distance to see who was around before he approached. It was too close to the time he needed to drop off his commission.
He looked quickly for Graros instead.

Graros was restless. He was still in his jacket, but with a cloth one over top. It was a deep, ivy green that his mother made before she died. He had been wondering about that kid. Would he come? He was getting ready to go back to sleep, but just before he did, he looked out the window. There he was! Quickly, Graros donned his robes and shrugged off the jacket. He rushed quietly to the front door, checked to make sure no one else was there, and beckoned for the kid to come in. He opened the door quietly.

"Not a busy night, eh?" he asked as he was let in, shuffling underneath the light robe he had worn. It may have felt light to him, but it had enough material to fold in on itself and generally hide his form. That was probably a way to carry weapons at night that may or may not be illegal. Night time, of course, was more dangerous, and if one could confuse an attacker or surprise him, one was better off. Adan seemed prepared for that, but in a way that came more from habit than from conscious thought this night.
He was weary of Graros, but not afraid yet. "When do you close? I don't mean to keep you from going home." His eyes did not meet the other man's directly yet because he was looking around the shop, this made plain enough by the fact that his hood was down and not up to conceal his face.

He shrugged, then lied the way people do to make their world seem more rosy than it currently is. Strain is temporary, optimism is forever. "Oh, I'm fine. I finished most of my work so I had nothing to do." He added that 'most' in so that he could take his leave later in order to meet up with that strange woman.
"What about you? Was business good today?" he asked, returning the small talk. Half the time, though, when people asked how you were they did not wait for the answer. Even close aquaintances, friends on occasion, would make that sort of egotistical idiom out of an otherwise congenial question.

Fior looked nervously about her, looking for Iahhel. I know he's here... she thought to herself angrily. She saw him from a ways off, down by the weapon store she occasionally passed in the morning. Even from a distance, she could see the sadistic smirk that inhabited his face as he watched the now-closed store. She made a small pleading face to herself and quickly darkened her expression. She knew she looked foolish, for she never really could look very angry. She walked up to him briskly. "Iahhel..." she started quietly. "Is this all you ever do...? Stand around and creep people out?" She stopped about five feet before him, his dreadful magic already making her tremble. She loathed the way he made her magic feel sickeningly dark.

Someone almost wanted some stuff enchanted, but they changed their mind. Mostly I just worked in the lab, out back. Would you like to see it?" Graros needed to show him a few things, get him used to the place before he asked about recruitment. He could show the boy the serious stuff while he thought about the offer. "By the way, what's your name?" Graros asked curiously.
