"Just fine. A little more work tomorrow and the re-shingling should be all set. After that, I think I'm going to have to go into the old Leatherworks and clean it out, fix it up. It'll probably take a month or two of real hard work, really getting that thing fixed up," he replied with a smile, still rubbing her leg with his foot. Even I questioned my faith before I met the Twin Sisters above, and my faith was most certainly brought in full. Death does that to someone, love... but any encounter with the Gods would make believers of them I assure you, he sent to her with a heavily emotionally-filtered tendril, obviously still wrestling with the whole ordeal as much as she was.

"Just be careful in there." she admonished, waving her fork down the table at him. "Maybe it would be better if you just boarded the place up so no one could get in!" She hesitated a moment, then reached out a tendril of her own, wrapping it firmly around his. She loved him, and that was what really mattered.

Sever smiled softly and nodded, looking at their two kids eating happily and quietly. They'd gotten in trouble in there, who's to say that others wouldn't as well? "I do suppose you may be right, love, but one day I'm fixing that place up. There's things in there that I want to find out what they are. Locked cabinets and things."

Ila looked up a moment from her almost finished fish, curiosity shining in her face. "Can we see what you find?"
Mir couldn't help but grin. It was so very plain where they'd gotten their curiosity.

Levi chorused her curiosity as he looked up from his fruit bowl. "Yeah, kin we see papa?"
Sever smirked and got a mischief-twisted grin on his face. "Well, I suppose that depends on if you kits behave. I'll show you what you earn the right to see, ok? Remember what I've always said, hard work will always pay off in the long run."

A small pout appeared on Ila's face, but she quickly turned back to her plate again. "Yes, Daddy." It wasn't long till the kits were finished with their meal and hopped down, leaving their dishes, since they weren't quite big enough to reach and set them in the sink. Ila dragged her brother back to play for a little while before bedtime. Mir finished up her own supper, discussing various projects and customers she'd seen in the shop that day, and other little inconsequential matters before heading into the kitchen to wash up.

Levi was dragged happily off with Ila and put up no fight at all, and once Sever and Mir had discussed the various inconsequential matters, he stood and moved to the back of the shop, checking to see if any mail carriers (crafty as they were) had left notice of anything for them. There was a single letter in a black envelope - and he knew exactly what was inside. He'd gotten this letter once before, in his father's hands, back when he was but Levi's age. He slipped it into his pocket and stood outside for a long while until the sun was setting, which was the kits' bed time. He turned to the door and went inside, ushering the kits up to wash their faces and settle in for bed. Once they were tucked in for the night and their room was shut (he'd made them a separate room shortly after their birth), there was a distressed look on his face which he'd kept hidden from the kits. He plopped down on the singular couch they owned, letting out a painful sigh. Something, but only he knew what, was not going as planned.

Finculmir Once she'd finished up the dishes, and helped tuck the kits in, Mir bustled about tidying for a while until she noticed how still and quiet her husband was. She quietly stepped up behind the couch and leaned over the back, kissing his ear. "What's up?" He tilted his head backwards and looked into her eyes, letting out a sorrowful sigh as he pulled out the black envelope. "...This envelope doesn't need to be opened for me to know what's in it, because it's one of two things. It either means that first, someone in my family was killed in combat or corrupted to darkness or some such line of thought... or two, I'm being put on trial. And the second one is highly unlikely, so I'm fairly sure it's the first, and I'm also completely sure that if that's the case, it's in regards to my younger brother Vetis, who recently fought in what they were calling the Shadow War... he wanted me to come fight, I impolitely declined," he explained, fiddling with the envelope.

Silently, she slipped her arms about his shoulders, hugging him close. "Whatever it is, love, we'll face it together. It'll tear you up to imagine what's in there. You'll always imagine the worst. It may not be as bad as all that." Her lips found his ear again, kissing it gently and nuzzling the side of his head. Her grip loosened a little, but she didn't let go.

He dropped the envelope into his lap and placed his hands on her arms, tilting his head back to rub his cheek against hers lovingly. "That is a special envelope, my dear... I know it's contents and that is why I fear them..." He took the note and tossed it onto the table adjacent the couch, sitting and turning to be facing his wife. "...But as long as I have you, I fear nothing," he told her, quickly snatching her by the waist and lifting her up and over the back of the couch, pulling her into his arms and onto the cushions.

Reynard killed the engine of the motorcycle, he had finally made it to the village. He didn't want to venture into the town just yet, the small hill he was on provided a great view. He removed his Mauser K 98 sniper rifle from its saddle holster strapped to the side of the front tire fork. The rifle wasn't loaded, he used its scope to check out the town... just in case of demons. Talk about deadsvill... He thought as he eyed the empty streets. Wait a minute... there are lights on! One or two houses had lights in side, which meant inhabitance. Reynard looked up at the sky, twilight. Satisfied, he put the rifle back into its holster. Well, heres goes nothing... Reynard started his motorcycle and continued down the dirt road.....
The racket of the motorcycle boomed down the empty street. Reynard feeling horribly exposed as he coasted down the street, its headlight beaming down it. He cut the engine and clicked off the light. He had stopped at the first house which had lights on. He eased himself off the motorcycle, making sure his helmet was on straight, as not to freak out the people with his ears, if they asked him why we was wearing sunglasses at six at night, he'd tell them it blocks out the moonlight...? Or something like that... He needed a place to stay for the night, he'd offer to pay for a room. About fifty silver aught to do it... Reynard thought as he counted out the money from his coinbag. It was more that twice what it was worth... but he was desperate tonight. He stepped up onto the porch, his boots making a loud racket as he approached the front door. He lifted his fist to knock, then hesitated, fearful of vengeful thieves on the other side. He unsnapped his holster but didn't remove his pistol, he didn't know who was on the other side... Good people, bad people, no people? Reynard took a breath, and knocked three times....
