wakusei I still think the type of game a contest would be is different from the type of game that subforum was created for. But I guess I'm just messed up in the head... sweatdrop
I suppose too many definitions still hold subjective meanings.
The Subforum was created for word games, but when it was created there were non word games in there. We need to decide what to do with all the non word games that include contest.

Omnileech aretoo All this tempest in a teapot, over three contests that will be over in less than a week, engineered for the guild to all have fun together. gonk Contests/games that are all held in the wrong place under the farcical impression that contests and games are any different. They have about the same difference as H20 and water. So... by that definition, wouldn't you say that the Gaia site misclassifies their own event contests, and shouldn't they all (including slots, towns, word bump, etc) be placed in the "games" subforum?

Saverio C. A debate dose not have a winner unless a person concede. Like a person can concede to have run out of ideas in a games and thus lose.
We can argue definitions for the end of time, but the fact stands that a contest has no place next to a debate. They attract different people and require different skills If conceding makes a winner...then theres a winner. So someone wins. Please show me an example of a thread game on Gaia which resulted in someone saying they ran out of ideas. And then where the OP told them they lost. Because I'm pretty sure that never happens. Not for thread games.
That a contest has no place next to a debate was never even what we're supposed to be discussing so what does that matter anyway...?

This would be surprizing how. Gaia can't even run the public forums correctly why should we use their system. This is not the public forums they are not treated the same.

I'd call them thread games. Contests may be moved out here unless a new subforum is to be created for them or they are to be categorized with games and rps.

I'm beginning to think our "corrupt" mods should just forget any and all events, as much as I personally enjoy them, as it's causing such a trauma for the guild.

So ok then if it has no place next to it should not be grouped with it!
Like in the main forum, we have IDD threads like this grouped with silly discussions.
Games are the silly discussions of the sub forum, Contest are the IDD of it. That is why they should be in the same place

I suppose this guild thrives on conflict.
"This is not the public forums they are not treated the same."
So we have our own set of rules and our own set of everything.
So let's make contests a game that deserves special consideration due to all its differences from the standard word game such as the "In my pants thread"
The poll will probably help resolve this issue too, I just hope people aren't mule abusive.
Edit: Saverio, well done.

Or the event stuff they do in the forums they created just for them and they clearly assign it for such a purpose? They're consistent with their own rules at least.

I don't see a problem with something like the egg coloring contest being placed in the main forum. It's a guild contest set forth by the mods for the entire guild, not just those (let's face it, few) members that visit the games forum.

Oh ok so it is better than the other threads then? Why is it better? Why dose it require special treatment?
The poll should not matter, it is not what people think it is what the guild hsa to do to abid by it's own rules. Stop running from the argument Jaft. If the public whats to make Crack legal should it be? The answer is no, the public is not the most attentive nor should they be intrusted with management.

I think you missed my point? If a contest and debate are the same, or if they are different...both don't matter because that's not what this thread is supposed to be discussing.
IDD threads used to be separated, but that changed because they were so overlooked. Contests should be separate from games for the same reason...they'll be overlooked in the subforum. People go there looking for thread games, not contests.

*sigh* You know... this is getting ridiculous. Us mods made these events for you guys to enjoy, and lets face it these are not like the games in the subforum that will be there for a while, these are going to be gone in a week and our attempt was to get as many people participating as possible. However, I tend to agree with aretoo, if its gonna cause this much trouble we may as well not do them at all.

The point I am making is that the rules apply to all threads regardless of anything. If the Subforum is pointless then remove it. Treat all threads equally!
